I accidentally installed QuickTime Player 7 to my Mac 10.7.3. QT7 was intended for older versions. QT7 is now preventing me from viewing videos using RealPlayer. How can I deinstall QT7?

I want to convert my .VOB files to something I can edit in FCP 7. I've been reading about MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 which I downloaded. Then it tells me I need an MPEG 2 Playback in order to export the video.I currently have QuickTime Player v 10.It says that I need MPEG 2 Playback; however, I've been reading that Lion comes with that Playback. I downloaded Lion yesterday from Snow Leopard because of this (I needed an excuse to upgrade, anyway), but I still can't find the MPEG 2 Component.Do I need to install QuickTime Pro? Or does anyone else have any other ideas for converting my .VOB file to something for FCP? I'm taking home videos that are on a DVD (converted by Costco from a Hi-8 tape - yikes! The 90s...) and want to put them into FCP for a project for school.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe App Store is showing that an update to Facetime is available, but the update is v 1.0.2 and the installed version is newer; 1.1.1. When I click the update button I get a dialog that "FaceTime can't be installed on "Macintosh HD" becuase the version of Mac OS S is too new." The App Store continues to show this update is available, how do I get rid of it?

Does anyone know how to save the Quicktime Movies that the Tutorial site, LYNDA.COM has ? Is there a QuickTime Movie Saver app out there ?
I lost a quicktime component in I Movie and I can't watch the video
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several HD videos from my Sony NEX-3 camera that will not play very well from within iMovie. They freeze up, or run in slow motion while the sound track continues without any problem. I've seen other related comments on this forum, but no one has suggested a fix yet. I can play my clips just fine from the finder menu using "Quick Look". Other videos from the same camera work, what has changed?

I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.5 with Google Chrome dev version 10.0.612.3. To access your plugins within Chrome, type "aboutlugins" into the omnibox. Then to the right, click on the "+ Detail". Scroll down to see your Quicktime Plugin version. The reason I am asking is as you can see, Chrome says I have an outdated Quicktime Plugin. I followed their link to Apple's Quicktime download page but Apple only offers Quicktime for 10.5 - 10.5.8 ,version 7.6.9 for Leopard. [URL] Anyone able to clear this up?
It says I have to "download a critical security update" for my Quicktime Plugin as you can see from the attachment. The reason this has come to by attention is because the Facebook chat sound notification does NOT work while using Chrome. I did some googling and found that Quicktime may be the problem for the Facebook chat sound notification to not work. So if I do indeed have the latest Quicktime player (7.6.6), then why isn't the sound notification for Facebook not working? Maybe because of something else?
I edited a screen recording video (shot with QuickTime) with iMovie. Added chapters but when EXPORT - USE QUICKTIME and set properites to HD format, once done (5 hours) chapters are not available in Quicktime. I read that when exporting to tiny video format, chapters are not available but here I' exportin to an HD format. I have FCP X, QT X and QT7 (not the full version!) installed. (Soon Compressor.) If they can't do it, is there a utility...?Â

I have had this problem quite a while now:When I open an .avi file it automatically opens using QuickTime. I'd like that because it's the best player for Apple. The problem is however that I can only hear the sound, there's no image/video.I use 10.7.2. (now updating to 10.7.3), but it already did this before I had OSX Lion installed. If I search for new updates it doesn't come up with an update for QuickTime.Any other player works (although VLC's the only one I tried so far).

I'm having an issue with Software Update on Quicktime 7.5.7 for a couple of weeks now.
When I try installing it, I get the following error:
The update QuickTime cant be saved.
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.
I already tried deleting the following files Library/Preferences com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist and the content of the Library/Updates folder, but the problem is persistent.
The strange thing is that I just was able to install a raw camera update without a problem... and since I just posted this, obviously, I can connect to the internet...
I am also unable to find a standalone updater file on Apple's download site... there are Quicktime 7.5.5 ones, but not for the 7.5.7 one.
I found the offender: /System/Library/Frameworks/QTKit.framework. Restored it from a TM backup pre 10.7.4 looping is back.
