I think I've deleted my quicktime player on my iMac.
so, I have downloaded quicktime player from Apple.com and tried to install quicktime player 7.
BUT it says i can't install quicktime player 7 because I already have quicktime X on my computer.
I can't find it at all on my computer.
I have tried to update for my all apps but it says there's nothing to update.
How can I re-install my quicktime or even find it?
I have mac os x 10.6.1 and i have both Quicktime X an Quicktime 7. When I try to watch a video tutorial for I-life programs, the screen says "QuickTime required. Free download". Then I download the file and when I try to install it says tha Quick time 7 cannot be installed because QuickTime X is already present.

People, I've been told my iMovie HD issues in Snow Lep may be caused by not having Quicktime 7 any longer. I previously had the Quicktime 7-Pro version, but that got removed and replaced by Quicktime X when I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Lep.
I went to the Apple site to download Quicktime 7, but I'm getting a message in the install process that says "This version of QuickTime 7 can't be installed on this disk because QuickTime X is already present".
How can I get Quicktime 7 back on??? and still preserve Quicktime X too??

I recently did a clean install of my system and deleted my Previous Systems folder. I was looking to play DVDs in QuickTime with the Mpeg-2 Component, but it is missing from /Library/QuickTime. I can't find it anywhere on the drive. I am trying to reinstall it from the QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg I bought from Apple. Installer says "successfully installed" but there's no sign of the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file. And still no ability to play MPEG-2.
I have downloaded through the Apple store the most recent version of the component installer. No dice.
I have deleted QuickTimeMpeg2.pkg from /Library/Receipts. No dice.
I have searched through all /Users. Nothing.
Am I missing something? This is really ticking me off.

So my iPod is all kinds of glitching. None of the apps are working. I press them and they open for a second and then close themselves out. Them I tried installing a new app, a free one, bit it's glitching. I go to the app store, search for Any game but when I press free, it does this weird thing where the free button moves and then all I can see I half the install button. I tried pressing the half-install button but it does nothing. I tried restarting the iPod nut it's the same thing once I turn it back on.

I'm trying to install the Xvid codec for Quicktime. And in the ReadMe file it tells me this his how I install the codec:

It is possible that the QuickTime directory does not yet exists. In that case you can create it yourself. Pay attention to capital letters if you use a case sensitive file system (i.e. UFS). But I haven't got a clue where the Home Directories are.

They freeze up, or run in slow motion while the sound track continues without any problem. I've seen other related comments on this forum, but no one has suggested a fix yet. I can play my clips just fine from the finder menu using "Quick Look". Other videos from the same camera work, what has changed?

I edited a screen recording video (shot with QuickTime) with iMovie. Added chapters but when EXPORT - USE QUICKTIME and set properites to HD format, once done (5 hours) chapters are not available in Quicktime. I read that when exporting to tiny video format, chapters are not available but here I' exportin to an HD format.

I have a 2.4 Ghz MacBook Pro (4GB Ram, 256 MB video card). I have OS X 10.5.1 clean install. Within the last couple weeks I have noticed that if I play 720p or 1080p video files in quicktime that the frame rate is noticeably decreased, you can see that the movement is not very smooth. This goes for WMV and Quicktime files. I have restarted the computer and repaired permissions. If I look in activity monitor, there are no processes running with substantial CPU usage. If I look at the movie inspector while the video is playing, it says that it is at the encoded FPS (i.e. if the video is at 24 it fluctuates at or above 24 for playing FPS), even though it is clearly not that high.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI accidentaly AppZapped my quicktime and after that cleaned my trash can so it is completely gone now but when I try to install quicktime again from the apple site, it tells me that QuickTime X is already present and it can not install the file I am trying to install.I've attached an image of what is happening and I'd really appreciate if someone can suggest what to do on this quicktime issue.
So I've got some movies in .avi that I want to open in QT but it obviously dosen't recognize the format. I tried flip4mac but that dosen't seem to be working either.

My wife works for a TV station and one of the editors at the station put a video file together with Final Cut Pro and put it on our external hard drive.
The file is just over 3 gig and won't open in Quicktime. It WILL open in VLC, but I need to get it in a format that iDVD will recognize because I created a DVD menu for this video and want to add it to my DVD project.
I have some other videos she recently brought home as well in the same .mov format but they are smaller, around 800 MB and those will not play in Quicktime either, but they are recognized by iDVD when I try to add a video the DVD project.
I'm guessing I'm missing a codec here and have tried a number of them but nothing seems to work. I was able to find a free converter that converted the file to .avi and it would then open in Quicktime, but there was a logo added to the video which makes it basically useless to us.
So my questions are-
1) Is it simply too big a file for Quicktime to play? What is the max file size it will play?
2) Is there possibly a codec I'm missing here that I haven't tried yet?
3) What else could the problem be?
How would I go about watching a .rar video using Quicktime? Or is there another program I should use?
