Dec 16, 2010I have recently had problems with the iplayer grabber programme that some of you may know about. Anyway it stopped working and I downloaded the newer version two weeks ago and although ithe application loads ok it does not work, if I pick something to download, it opens an mpeg4 file on my desktop but never progresses beyond that.

Feb 22, 2009As stated in title, the desktop picture will randomly revert to a picture I had up there months ago, usually when I run the battery all the way down on my unibody MB, but also when I change display settings when i plug into an external monitor.
Do I just need just reset the PRAM or is there something else I'm missing.

Apr 16, 2010I don't think I've got anything blocked as far as a firewall goes. I've tried connecting to [URL] and [URL] and it won't connect. Other sites work fine. I tried my neighbor's W-LAN and I couldn't connect either but he connected to squarespace on his macbook pro, so I think it's something with my computer and not my apartment's W-LAN connection.

Jun 25, 2010In Safari 5, there is a search bar at the top right that allows you to search Bing, Google, and Yahoo!
I would like to know if it's possible to add additional websites to that list. So, for instance, would it be possible to add Wikipedia to that drop-down list? If so, how? Will I be able to do this when the Extension Gallery goes live, sometime later this summer?
Essentially, I want Safari 5 to behave like Firefox/MyCroft and allow me to customize/manage the search list myself. I would never search Yahoo! or Bing, so I'd like to replace those with something a little more useful.
Applications :: Safari Won't Open Certain Websites?
Aug 7, 2010My Uncle just purchased a new Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard and he is having trouble accessing certain sites such as [URL] but has no problem accessing other sites like Apple or Google from Safari.
I tried to troubleshooting the issue by resetting Safari and by deleting the com.apple.safari.plist preference file in his home directory but he still has the problem.
I'm not sure if it is related, but I had to have him change the port from 5190 to 443 in iChat in order to connect to his AIM account so I could screen-share with him.
Also, he uses AOL mail and I was able to get it set up in Apple Mail but it is very sluggish to download.
He is using either Cisco or Linksys router and range extender and he said that his Windows computers have no problems connecting to any sites.

Sep 2, 2010I need a plug-in/add-on/application that will block certain websites I want at certain times. For example, block Youtube and Facebook from 4-6PM. Preferably these settings would be difficult or impossible to change once in place, haha. I want to be strict and not let myself procrastinate during the upcoming school year and I think this is the only way to actually do it.

Apr 27, 2004I have been using Safari faithfully since it was released, and in the last week it has developed a strange problem. I can't recall doing anything different that would have caused this problem, but now whenever I try to load a secure website (https), I get the error message "Safari could not load the page https:xxxx because it could not connect to the server." I have tried resetting Safari, but that didn't fix the problem. I have also thrown away the following files (Safari_1.2.pkg, Safari (folder), Safari (application), and com.apple.Safari.plist) and reinstalling a new version of Safari, also without success. I should add that Internet Explorer will always load the pages that choke Safari, but I hate using this program. Has anyone ever heard of this before, and does anyone know how to fix it? As you can see the page is displaying in half the window. Other users are having no problem in safari, just me. When I reset Safari the problem seems to go away, only to come back in a couple hours. This problem has only come about in the last couple days, anyone ever have this problem and know how to fix it?

Jun 5, 2010I have a MacBook but I go on safari or Mozilla fire both have same issue I go on google and search then click on a link and it redirects me to unrelated websites I think its a virus because I tried resetting safari and emptying cache on both browsers and still same. Other information: In address bar says stulus.com (extra stuff) then shows what looks like IP addresses and on the page it is a blank white screen except for a continue button in top left corner after a few seconds it sends me back to google.com.

The issue on Firefox seems to have gone away after my internet hosting company apparently "fixed" some DNS zones issues but the problem still exists when I view the pages in Safari. The website is [URL]. Notice how (in Safari) the "John O"Leary" at the top of the page seems to bounce but only if the page is not already in the browser's cache.
2. I've published a number of sites to folders. Is there any way to re-open these sites in iWeb to edit them or is the only way to do this to save the "Domain.sites" file under: User / Library / Application Support / iWeb?

Apr 4, 2009I go to some websites, (such as wikipedia amongst other glitchy thing like someones reply on gmails) and the fonts on the site comes out illegible! It comes out like fraction and words all on top of each other. I tried changing the Character Encodings under View but nothing is working. Its a drag not being able to read some sites. When I copy and paste it onto excel, the actual paragraph clearly appears but once back on the browser, its still messed up. I use Firefox 3.0.8 and Safari 3.1.2.

Oddly, the other 2 user accounts on her machine are fine with the same websites! She's cleared the cache, restarted Safari and her Mac (many times), changed the text encoding (and then back again), but nothing solves it.
