Applications :: Mac Google Redirects To Unrelated Websites
Jun 5, 2010
I have a MacBook but I go on safari or Mozilla fire both have same issue I go on google and search then click on a link and it redirects me to unrelated websites I think its a virus because I tried resetting safari and emptying cache on both browsers and still same. Other information: In address bar says stulus.com (extra stuff) then shows what looks like IP addresses and on the page it is a blank white screen except for a continue button in top left corner after a few seconds it sends me back to google.com.
I have the 10.9.3 software on my mac. I recently downloaded the adware removal tool from thesafemac because I had a bunch of pop ups and redirects in safari. Here are a few examples of whats popping up: mackeeperapp2.zeobit.com & unizz.exclusiverewards.dollfield.eu
It also started affecting both my wife’s and my iPhones 5s and ipad air in safari - lots of redirects and taking me to the App Store.
This has happened for a few months now, ever since I upgraded to iTunes 8 I believe, and now that I'm using iTunes more often it's starting to get annoying. I will play an album in iTunes. Once the album finishes, instead of stopping playback, iTunes will play an apparently random song from my library (though each album seems to be linked to a different song, which changes every now and then. I've been unable to find any pattern). Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have any ideas? I don't think this is just a problem for me - it happens to some friends who have iTunes as well. I've searched on Google and on this forum and couldn't find any solutions.
There are some folks who insist on sending me e mail with either no subject lines or very vague subject lines.
What this ends up doing is associated messages with no subject or vague subject lines together when they really are not related at all. I've attached an example; that four different conversations from four different people, and none of them are related at all, but they are all part of one thread.
I cannot access google and a few other websites. Could this be a virus? The google search bar on safari doesnt work either. I am on admin account so parental control is out as well.
Google websites are not loading properly all of a sudden (other sites seem okay). I have disabled and uninstalled Safari extensions, reset Safari settings and even tried reinstalling Safari, but no success.
I get this ad every time I load the page. I figured it was a cookie problem so I searched my cookies for 'Google' and deleted all the results. I'm still getting it. It's not happening in Firefox, only Safari. It's been there since Friday or Saturday. Am I the only one?
About month or two ago, I started getting excessive ads on my computer. Scams, Microsoft stuff, Adobe Flash upgrades hat were obviously fake. The ads generally appeared on the pay, but evolved to gene ate separate tabs and windows. It gets really annoying when i can't click twice without getting a scam, or being redirected. I don't know if there are similar topics. i'm not going to look cause in the 5 minutes it took for me to write this, I've been redirected TWICE.
10.1.3 freezing issue. When editing a project, fcpx tries to 'load' a series of unrelated events and freezes, requiring me to shut down the computer and restart. The events are in my same G-drive library but not being accessed and there are no common files. It's doing it every few minutes.
I am trying to set up a website not using mobileme. I already have one website via mobileme that I've made using iWeb. Is it possible to not have them connected?
I don't think I've got anything blocked as far as a firewall goes. I've tried connecting to [URL] and [URL] and it won't connect. Other sites work fine. I tried my neighbor's W-LAN and I couldn't connect either but he connected to squarespace on his macbook pro, so I think it's something with my computer and not my apartment's W-LAN connection.
SPECS Mac OSX 10.5.8 Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 Ghz. 13" aluminum body, bought about a year ago Tried both Safari and Firefox browsers
In Safari 5, there is a search bar at the top right that allows you to search Bing, Google, and Yahoo!
I would like to know if it's possible to add additional websites to that list. So, for instance, would it be possible to add Wikipedia to that drop-down list? If so, how? Will I be able to do this when the Extension Gallery goes live, sometime later this summer?
Essentially, I want Safari 5 to behave like Firefox/MyCroft and allow me to customize/manage the search list myself. I would never search Yahoo! or Bing, so I'd like to replace those with something a little more useful.
My Uncle just purchased a new Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard and he is having trouble accessing certain sites such as [URL] but has no problem accessing other sites like Apple or Google from Safari.
I tried to troubleshooting the issue by resetting Safari and by deleting the com.apple.safari.plist preference file in his home directory but he still has the problem.
I'm not sure if it is related, but I had to have him change the port from 5190 to 443 in iChat in order to connect to his AIM account so I could screen-share with him.
Also, he uses AOL mail and I was able to get it set up in Apple Mail but it is very sluggish to download.
He is using either Cisco or Linksys router and range extender and he said that his Windows computers have no problems connecting to any sites.
I need a plug-in/add-on/application that will block certain websites I want at certain times. For example, block Youtube and Facebook from 4-6PM. Preferably these settings would be difficult or impossible to change once in place, haha. I want to be strict and not let myself procrastinate during the upcoming school year and I think this is the only way to actually do it.
Firefox refuses to load swf on any website. I can view youtube just fine. This is what it looks like. The first pic is a article on gizmodo (I am sure most of you read it). The video is supposed to be where the white box is but it doesn't load. The second pic is supposed to be a music player on myspace. Before you ask, yes I did install flash correctly. I am computer savy. I don't have any problems on safari http://img.skitch.com/20090126-dkcb2...9euhkb5tgr.tif http://img.skitch.com/20090126-8umrs...9rx9795gys.tif
I have been using Safari faithfully since it was released, and in the last week it has developed a strange problem. I can't recall doing anything different that would have caused this problem, but now whenever I try to load a secure website (https), I get the error message "Safari could not load the page https:xxxx because it could not connect to the server." I have tried resetting Safari, but that didn't fix the problem. I have also thrown away the following files (Safari_1.2.pkg, Safari (folder), Safari (application), and com.apple.Safari.plist) and reinstalling a new version of Safari, also without success. I should add that Internet Explorer will always load the pages that choke Safari, but I hate using this program. Has anyone ever heard of this before, and does anyone know how to fix it? Here is a link to the error message I get when I try to log in to my .Mac account:
The last 2 days my sites in safari haven't been displaying properly. Here's an example:
As you can see the page is displaying in half the window. Other users are having no problem in safari, just me. When I reset Safari the problem seems to go away, only to come back in a couple hours. This problem has only come about in the last couple days, anyone ever have this problem and know how to fix it?
I have been searching everywhere for an answer on this one - and if the answer is a simple NO! Then how does one go about doing this, many bought DVDs are able to take the viewer to a website is there a way for the consumer to achieve the same effect? It would be particularly handy to get the email link to work (In much the same way that it does using a PDF document).
1. I've had some trouble publishing with iWeb. The issue on Firefox seems to have gone away after my internet hosting company apparently "fixed" some DNS zones issues but the problem still exists when I view the pages in Safari. The website is [URL]. Notice how (in Safari) the "John O"Leary" at the top of the page seems to bounce but only if the page is not already in the browser's cache. 2. I've published a number of sites to folders. Is there any way to re-open these sites in iWeb to edit them or is the only way to do this to save the "Domain.sites" file under: User / Library / Application Support / iWeb?
With Leopard and Snow Leopard I could sync my Address Book with Google Contacts (in google apps). Now with Lion I can't find a way to sync those contacts. I have an iCloud acount for my personal contacst but our company uses Google Apps for sharing the contacts
I go to some websites, (such as wikipedia amongst other glitchy thing like someones reply on gmails) and the fonts on the site comes out illegible! It comes out like fraction and words all on top of each other. I tried changing the Character Encodings under View but nothing is working. Its a drag not being able to read some sites. When I copy and paste it onto excel, the actual paragraph clearly appears but once back on the browser, its still messed up. I use Firefox 3.0.8 and Safari 3.1.2.
My friend's just got a new MacBook Pro, MacOS 10.6.2, latest version of Safari, and she's having problems with a lot of websites displaying some links and text strangely, as A's in boxes (pic attached). Oddly, the other 2 user accounts on her machine are fine with the same websites! She's cleared the cache, restarted Safari and her Mac (many times), changed the text encoding (and then back again), but nothing solves it.
Just installed a new router - a D-Link Dir-825. I am unable to load anything in Safari or Chrome, and Mail will not go online. Only Firefox works. I've flushed my DNS cache in Terminal (I think...) but that didn't work. D-Link does not "support Safari".
Previously the solution was to install Safari plugins Inquisitor or Glims but Apple have removed the interfaces from Safari 4 that these plugins used - and there is still no built in Safari Preference to set the locale of the Google search. Effectively this renders the Safari Google Search field pretty well useless - at least for UK users. If you're searching for UK-based businesses or individuals, for example, the thousands of USA results that come up first are just not relevant - (that's an example of British Understatement. by the way
