Applications :: Video Editor For Assembling Clips And Rendering Into Movies?
Sep 12, 2010I currently use iMovie version 6 to put low pixel rate (e.g. 480 x 360) clips together. I was wondering if FCP or some other app is much faster. I don't do much editing. Mostly just assemble chunks and render them into movies.

Dec 6, 2009I used quicktime X to screen record a skype video chat and im trying to crop it so that theres just the skype window and not my desktop. I used imovie and did this but the video quality is terrible when i export it (shadows are like flcikers of grays). Im wondering if theres a way to do this to keep te exact video quality ( when importing to imovie i clicked keep original quality but still turned out terrible after i exported it) or to simply crop the video i need out of the movie.

Dec 20, 2010Is there a way I can crop my movies before importing it into iMovie. I have a long video on my recorder and I only need like 30 seconds of it, I don't want to have to import the whole movie (it's HD, so it'll take a while). Is there a quicker way to do this? If iMovie can't, just out of curiosity, can more advanced programs like Premiere Pro or FCE/FCP do this?

Inkscape seems to be the most highly recommended. I haven't read much on the other two, and from my playing around with them, neither seemed like they were quite as full-featured. I'm no graphics expert, though I'd like to learn more about creating vector graphic artwork.

May 25, 2009I'm relatively new to OS X and love it. I've found counterparts to all of my old windows software I rely on except an image editor. I use to love paint.net on windows - I do lots of image editing where I need something more powerful than paint on windows (or paintbrush on os x), but don't want the learning curve and extra features of Photoshop or GIMP. Also, I'd like it to be free if at all possible.

Aug 26, 2014I have a multicam clip and when I open it in the Angle Editor, I can't move any of the clips. They just snap back to where they were. For whatever reason, FCP X really fudged up the "auto" syncing of these clips and I have to move them around and sync manually.
What's the secret? I can press , and . to nudge left and right but grabbing them and dragging them down the timeline isn't working.

Oct 3, 2010After you have downloaded say 10 movie clips from a video camera into I- Movie, is there a way to connect 2 or more of the clips and make it into one clip? When making movies every time you pause the video camera it creates a different clip. If you pause it 15 times at the same event you download 15 clips which in turn you have to create a button for each clip in I- DVD. I would like to combine some of them to somewhat fewer.

Oct 13, 2010I have recently started learning to how to use FCE. I've got quite far with my first project and am at the point where I want to move some clips around the timeline. I do want to move clips inbetween other clips, rearranging their order, not deleting them. But whenever I drag a clip to fit splice in between two other clips, it just deletes whats underneath.

Basically, I want something that's developer friendly, with as many of these features as possible:
1) Colour syntax code highlighting (ex Java, C, Perl, HTML, etc)
2) Column select mode
3) Line numbers
4) Character numbers in line
5) Regular expression search and replace (grep)
6) Line wrapping on/off
7) Tabs or equivalent
8) Diff between files
I have MacVim and it does most of this, but the interface could be improved a bit.
If no free editor does this, I'm willing to consider TextMate or BBEdit.

Apr 7, 2008I've been trying to figure out how to crop a regular photo taken with my digital camera down to a 2x2 passport size photo. Everything I've found in the forums suggests ways I can change printing options, but since I'll be sending the photo out digitally, I'd like to know how to save the image in this size.
I don't have Photoshop (except for PS Express), and when i use iPhoto's "Custom Size" option to set it to 2x2, it looks to me like it's still in a rectangular shape. When I save it as a "Square" it turns into a square, but a square that fills the page. Are there any other options that I have?
