It corrects English grammar and spelling amazingly. But if I'm typing a French essay I either have to make it turn off spelling/grammar corrections or be burned by a sea of red underlines. How can I get it to correct in French?
View 1 RepliesAs the title says, I just can't get Preview.app to print a 33 page PDF using 2 pages per sheet in the correct order. It will print two pages per sheet of paper, but page 1 will come on the right, 2 on the left, 3 on the right, etc. I tried every possible combination in the "Layout" menu to no avail.

View 11 Replies View RelatedWhen copying a table from say a webpage or even a RTF file, Pages does not retain its table formatting. Instead it separates the rows and columns and puts them on separate lines.
See it for yourself, try copying one of the tables on this page into Pages [URL]
The only way I can get the table into Pages is to paste into NeoOffice (which retains the correct formating), save the file with the .doc extension then open in Pages.
I need to open a few Pages files but I don't have Pages installed on this computer. I understand you can convert Pages files to .doc or .pdf within the application, but unfortunately I won't have access to the computer with the program installed for a while.
Is there some sort of (free) converter that can convert .pages files to .doc or .pdf or even .rtf?
Or even better, a document creator/viewer than can open .pages files?
I'm wondering if there's a way to eliminate the visual break in-between pages in Pages '09 (see screenshot). I'd prefer maybe a subtle dotted line indicating a different page, not a 5-inch gap.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create pages that have all black backgrounds. I've been doing this by using the Shapes tool, choosing a rectangle, filling in the entire white space for the page, which is 8x11, and then filling in with black.
The problem is that when I do this, Pages seems to think that I want this page and the following page to be connected, in some way. When I look at the two pages in the thumnail view, the yellow outline is around both pages, rather than each individually.
Anybody know how to keep this from happening. Or the right way to create full black backgrounds for pages in Pages?
Being brand new to Apple with my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 and having used (not an expert) Windows from 95 all the way to Win 7, just would like to know what the correct way is to install and uninstall applications.

My camcorder is fairly old, it uses a tape, however it still downloads directly to iMovie digitally: don't ask.When I download it, I press import from camera. Then a window pops up and I press record, then it records the tape. However, once it makes a new event for it, and sometimes it imports under 2003! And I can't put it under the correct year!

Since iPhoto '11 auto-creates Events based on the time period the photos were taken, it is inevitable to get some into an Event you don't want them in. I might take 15 pictures in the morning of the sunrise, then take some pictures at the baseball game, and then another of something that catches my eye sometime during the day, and then some more photos at sunset.
I want the sunrise/sunset/sky pics in one event, the ball game in another, and the solo picture in no event, or an event called "Misc." If iPhoto '11 lumps them all into one Sunrise Event, how do I go about separating them out?
I am relatively new to iTunes, and have burned dozens of CDs before. However, all of those CDs have been complete albums. I tried to burn my first mix recently, and found that the CD had been burned with the songs in the wrong order.
I must be doing something wrong, but there doesn't seem to be too many areas where iTunes makes it even possible to mess something this simple up, so I pretty confused.
I make a playlist, hit burn CD, select Audio CD, and go. The songs make it, but like I said, in the wrong order. They get organized by album, but I just want the CD to look like the playlist on the computer.
Has anyone run into something like this? It is iTunes 8.0.2.
I think, not sure, I closed Mail to reduce the programs running for something. When I got it up again it has the correct number of messages in say my Inbox, Outbox etc, but the messages are not there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my auto-correct has a dictionary based in spanish. Example: when editing my resume I have put down the word Administrative , but it says it is wrong and gives suggestions such as Administrativa or Administrativo.
I have changed the spell check options to only have US english as the default setting and this suddenly pops up. I never put Spanish in my international language settings on the mac, nor have I had someone who speaks spanish use the computer.
I have a document that I've been working on in Text Edit. When I went to open it today it would not open and I got the message "the file could not be opened because it is not in the right format". I don't remember saving it any differently, last time. The only thing I did was change the font to a larger size, a few minutes before I last saved it. Could it be that it then became such a large document that text edit can't open it or is there something else I might have accidently done.

I would like to purchase music from the French i-tunes store. The music is not available in the US store. I was told I have to be a resident of France, with a French Credit Card and adderss. Seems rediculous in a world market to not allow electronic download purchases across the pond. At the very least the French artists should be listed on the us site too. I suspect the "cloud" has plenty of room.

I try resetting both the default language and the language choice as English (Tools > Language...), however, rather quickly it reverts back to French. This messes up the spell check. What can I do to keep it on English? (With a google search, I did find a 2005 post that mentions this as a systemic problem. However, in the document with the French problem, the text is being corrected in a weird way. It's not accepting a semi-colon ; next to a word.
