The mail app on my mac continuously displays that I have only two new messages, no matter if I have 7 or 0, it will always display 2.

Mail is showing one of my IMAP mailbox inboxes as having 8 unread messages, but there's only 1. I've created a smart mailbox to show only unread messages, and even though there's only one message in there, the badge on the smart mailbox also shows 8. I've quit and restarted Mail in case it was a cache problem, but that made no difference.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to Yosemite, my iMac shows a badge of 1 flagged message in OS X Mail, even though there are no flagged messages. If I do flag a message, the counter increments by one, and if I unflag a flagged message, it decrements by one, as it should. But it always shows one more flagged message than actually exists. If I click on the "flagged" messages on the left when it shows a badge number of 1, there are no flagged messages that appear on the right.Â
What is funny is that I have the exact same mail accounts on my macBook Air, and it does not have this problem at all.Â
How can I "reset" the number of flagged messages on my iMac?Â

I have two accounts at the moment. One is [URL] and a second one [URL] The unread count badge appears perfectly on the first account, but not on the second account. I've tried the solution of deleting the files "Envelope Index". Does not work.Â

I use an IMAP email account (provided by AOL) and every time I send an email it then comes in to my AOL sent items folder and displays an unread count on mail.app. It's infuriating.
I think imap stores the sent mail on it's server and I think I'm subscribed to all these folders so when it receives my sent mail, it sends a copy back to me.
I have tried creating a rule that mark all messages from me as read, but to no avail, it still does it anyway.
I think, not sure, I closed Mail to reduce the programs running for something. When I got it up again it has the correct number of messages in say my Inbox, Outbox etc, but the messages are not there.

On my iOS devices this is easily accomplished in Settings. But, I do not see a similar option in Lion/Mail.If it is not possible, is there any other way to limit the size of data accessed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAlthough the number of unread messages is properly shown under Inbox on the Mailboxes list next to two of my three Mail accounts, the other one shows none when there some. The quantity is also missing from the total number of messages next to Inbox when I collapse the list. This was working fine for many years.Â

The Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.

The iCloud account in Mail displays 1 unread message when all are read. I am unable to "mark all messages as read" to remove the 1 unread message icon. When I send multiple test emails to the iCloud account, it still only displays 1 unread message when there are more. The iCloud account on my iOS devices correctly displays the number of unread email messages.

I cannot seem to have the number of unread messages in my mailbox appear to the right of the inbox label. It used to be there, and I have another account set up in Mail and the number appears next to it when there is an unread message. It's just this one account.Here is a picture of what it is like, even though there is an unread message in the mailbox.I want the number of unread messages to be next to Gmail on the right.Also, the number of unread messages for the Gmail account do not appear on the Dock icon.Both of these functions work with my other account that is set up in Mail, and that account is a Gmail as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI constantly use Mail to send and receive emails on my MacBook.On it I have three email 'accounts' - my me.com address (for formal emails to work, banks etc.), my "junk" address (for spam, gaming etc.) and my "home" address (for personal emails and everything else).When typing an email, if I choose to send it from a different account than the one I originally selected, I can just change it in the 'From' pop-down menu (under the 'To', 'Cc', 'Bcc' and 'Subject' fields).Recently though, for some reason when I want to send an email from my "home" address, it sends it from my "junk"one instead, even if I am sending it 'From' my "home" address.It still has my "home" address' signature, and not every time it does send from my "junk" one instead - rather it seems to send from both as it feels up to.This bothers me quite a bit, especially when I send an important email using my "home" address but it sends from my "junk" - both confusing and annoying me and the recipients.This only just started happening to me this past week.

After the recent combined update to OS 10.7.3 MAIL does not show images as part of received messages. Instead the messages are littered with square boxes with question marks inside them. This only happens on my MacBook Pro 2.93GHz Intel Core Duo with 4GB ram and not on my iMac running the same system.
I have tried junking preferences etc but no change. I have also made sure that the "Display remote images in HTML messages" is checked in MAIL preferences.

I got a macbook pro for christmas and i'm starting to get to grips with it and such but ive found one problem i can't solve myself. I've set up my mail account on the mac, but whenever i try to delete a message off it then if i log onto my mail account through the internet the message is still there, same if i re-open my mail app on my mac.Â

After deleting a message the already read message above becomes selected instead of the unread message below. How do I change this? I have changed the sort by field to assending and decending. I looked at my husbands mail and it does not do this. I do not see any preference options to fix it.To recap, I want to start at the top of my new messages and if I want to keep a message I will go to the next unread one and delete that one without the one I want to keep becomeing the targeted message

Mail is suddenly not displaying certain messages in mailboxes. I can see and select the message in the center pane, but when I click on it to display, I get the "Loading" text and the spinner. This continues without resolution, though sometimes the messages will display after quitting Mail and/or rebuilding the Mailbox.Â
It is not random messages that do this, but always the same ones that refuse to display. But they will display sometimes after a rebuild, so I know they aren't gone. Some have image attachtments, others do not.Â
This just started this morning, following running Disk Utility to repair some HD corruption last night. Prior to that, Mail (and Safari) had been running very slowly for about three weeks. I have already repaired permissions on this drive.

I have set up my email account in Entourage and in Mac Mail. It is a Rackspace email account. I can retrieve messages from my email account in both programs. When I read a message in Mac Mail, it immediately disappears after I close the message. The messages remain in my Entourage inbox. In other words, after they are read, POOF! it's as if they never existed in Mac Mail. Â
Is there a setting I am missing? why this would happen in Mac Mail but not Entourage?Â

I would like to know if there is any possibility(plug-ins included) to show only the header of a message until I click on it to expand it.Because if I have a grouped conversation of 10+messages, I don't really want to scroll down until I find the one that I'm looking for, having messages show only headers (or just sender -> receiver) would be MUCH easier to search through. Yes, I know I can make mail not group messages, but that's not the point, I like them grouped, I just want them to appear like in sparrow, for example(pic below).

I want to only receive new email either once per hour or better still manually (once or twice during the day at a time chosen by me). That way I won't be bombarded with emails all day and can get on with my work.Â
So, I set the 'check for new messages' to 'manually'. Nevertheless I get email coming in frequently. Possibly every time I send an email, it also checks for new incoming mail (I'm not sure but that's my hunch).Â
How can I stop Mail from pulling in my new incoming email? Any answers to this? If I can't figure this out or it's not possible in Apple Mail, it might be time to switch (but I don't want to!)Â

i'm writing because i don't know if that's me becoming paranoid or thats a normal mail feature. I rarely check my sent mail but today i did that and i noticed that almost any sent message i check, it loads it for about 10 seconds. I select a message and on the right there is written: Loading... and if i check the mail activity, it says Downloading message. That happens with almost every sent message i have in the sent folder. I have a fast internet connection and it loads just in 1 sec from gmail online mail. So why the ****Â mail.app downloads it for 10 seconds? And they are only text messages. And the strange thing that after i read the message and back to inbox, than go again into sent folder and select the same sent message, it loads again. Shouldn't they be on my HD?

Since upgrading to Lion, whenever I open a message with the same header and sender as a previous one, it puts them all together in a single window. How can I get Mail to only show the latest in the window when I select the message? I receive daily alerts from various services, and I don't want to scroll through them to just see the one message.

In my "Junk folder" emails are being caught. Some are a darker brown color and have a box to unmark as junk. Others are a lighter brown and have no such "unmark" option. Some of these that I believe are being identified as "spam" are in fact not spam. How do I change the color of them in the inbox from light brown to black?
