I've been searching for a way to import a CSV calendar file (intended for Outlook) into iCal. I googled this problem extensively and found a free on-line translator, but it did not work on the file I would like to import. I believe a commercial product can also do the deed, but I really don't want to cough up a bunch of money just to have this one file translated.
Everytime I upload that ical backup file... nothing happens in google calendar. It does nothing in Firefox... and safari I just get 0 was transferred. I just want to bring over my calendar to google. Does anyone know what is going on? Anything I am missing?
Is there a size limit for importing an Excel File into Numbers? The error message says the file is too large. Has this been changed in i-work 09? The file has multiple sheets that refer to each other, but i can't even open at this point. It is 3.1 MB.
I'm wondering if there is a simple way to import a text file format into iCal. I have a variety of operations that would become immensely easier to do if I could create a CSV file, for example, in Excel or Open Office and then just import that into iCal, rather than sit there and type each item individually.I have both event data and tasks that I need to do bulk imports for.
I've searched high and low and most of what I find involves importing CSV into other applications and then exporting it to VCal files before finally bringing the data into iCal.There has to be a simpler way.
I'm trying to import sony fs-700 video into fcpx. I haven't had any problem until today. For some reason it just shows the file structure and the AVCHD video file and won't let me import.
I just used the ical calibration tool to sync ical up with my google calendar and it works like a charm. I love how i can just click on dates in Mail and add them to my iCal which then pushes i to google calendar for my wife to see...that way i can sneak tennis or a round of golf in and she can't say she didn't know
At any rate-i would like to know if there's a way to pull her cal stuff to my ical. I can see all of her stuff on my google calendar, but i dont have the "right" to add her account to ical. I assume i could just have her enter in her login info - but i would like to know if that's the best way.
Trying to get them to talk to each other - I've input the Google account into iCal preferences, and it shows up fine. But I seem only able to sync one way - if I add an appointment in Google Calendar - then sync - it shows up fine in iCal. But if I add an event in iCal and then sync - it doesn't show up on the Google Calandar.
Why in the world can't I import Quicktime files into iMovie? I'm guessing it has to do with frame rates or something. Or can I and am I just missing something?
If not, is there a file conversion tool anyone could recommend to convert Quicktime or other movie file types? Or do I have to somehow record out to a video to a deck and then import it back in to my iMovie?
I guess I expected iMovie to be something like Premiere. Would Final Cut allow me to do this?
if you converted this way, did the imported data come in reflecting the correct Reconiliation coded value, i.e. "R" or blank?? I've heard war stories about how someone did convert this way and then had to reconcile all their data again in iBank.
I have several local .mbox files created with the Apple Mail client from 10.6.8 saved "on my Mac" after doing a clean install of Yosemite I am having trouble getting them to import. One is ~5GB the other is ~2.5 GB. a smaller one (66MB) with 300 items fails to fully import (gets only ~170 items).
Is there a better way to force the new mail client to read these or is there another mail program that can read these? These are important emails.

After updating to 10.1.2 it seems that FCPX now uses a different file naming scheme on imported AVCHD files.
Previously on import, it would use a file naming scheme based on date ie. '2014-06-14 10_49_47 (id).mov' etc. which is great for me as I could see exactly what date & time that clip was created at a glance in the event viewer, also when a camera on a shoot had it's time out by an hour due to an incorrect daylight saving setting, I could use easily go through the clips tweaking the time in the file name & then they would show in the correct order in FCPX.
Now 10.1.2 just imports the clips using the useless file naming scheme of 'clip #1.mov' etc ...
Any way to get FCPX to import using the old naming scheme - or am I now boned if I have a camera set incorrectly ...
ICal has decided it won't allow any more new Events, not from invoking New Event from the File menu and not from entering directly into the calendar itself. On click-drag in the calendar, a little box opens, just as though I were about to be able to enter a new Event, but on releasing the trackpad button, the box disappears.
I want to migrate from my iTunes account to my MobileMe/iCloud account. But before I can do that, I need to create a backup of my calendars. My problem is though, that iCal constantly freezes when I'm saving the backup file (via File > Export > iCal Archive…) and I have to force quit it after a while.

Does anyone have the Mac Mini setup as a Server for File Sharing, iCal Sharing, etc. using 10.5 Leopard Server. If so, does it work well or are there issues. Currently, I have a Western Digital My Book hooked up to the Time Capsule to share files, but the lack of setting permissions will not work in the near future.
I installed GCALdaemon to sync iCAL with Google. Everything went well until I came to this: Put a colored label on all folders in '~/Library/Application Support/iCal/Sources'. open ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/Sources
Terminal ********:~ Roody$ open ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/Sources The files /Users/Roody/Library/Application and /Users/Roody/Support/iCal/Sources do not exist.
I burned a video I shot of my sons baseball game. Loaded it into iMovie and created a finished project. I shared it to iDVD and burned a DVD. By accident I deleted the project from the project liabrary (and the event.)How can I load information on the DVD, back on the hard Drive so I can keep the footage. My goal is to make a best of DVD at the end of the season.
On my powermac G4 I have my contacts in Entourage. There are like a total of 1200 and I really don't need all of them on my new iBook so I've limited it to 200 of close contacts and saved them as vcf. Then I emailed myself the vcf file and try opening it on my new iBook which happily imports them into Address Book instead of Entourage (it also seemed to lose alot of the details, like categories).
I look for option in Entourage to import a VCF and it doesn't seem to have it. How do I import a VCF into Entourage? Or how can I these select contacts onto my laptop installation of Entourage?
problem is that if I stick the HD card into my mac and fire up FCP I can import straight into and editing etc is all fine until I take the HD Card out and then I lose the media connection. I have tried saving the imported clips into various places on my hard drive (by way of "save as in FCP) but when it comes to finding them, whilst the file can be seen in the relevant part of system FCP cannot connect to them. However, ll is fine again when I put the HD card back into my computer.
I have several years of e-mails backed up from my old Windows laptop, which crashed leading to the current PowerBook. How can I get these Outlook Express .msg files into Mail?
I have about 10 random emails that I have saved on a flash drive. Each message is saved as an individual email file (.eml) Is there a way I can import the messages into mail.app on my macbook?
I have a problem importing mail from Thunderbird to Mail.app on Leopard. I transfered all my messages from windows computer to a mac that ran Tiger OS and Thunderbird. Now a few months later I upgraded OS to Leopard and wish to import messages from Thunderbird to Mail.app. But Mail imports only messages that have been once transfered from windows and doesn't import any of the messages that I have received or sent on my mac these last few months.
