Applications :: Getting Duplicate Emails With Mail Account
Sep 9, 2004I have been getting duplicate emails for a while now (17" powerbook 1.5ghz g4, 10.3.5). Sometimes I get 12 copies of the same email! I tried trashing the prefs and that helped for a few days, but it keeps coming back. I also setup and tested my mail account on another machine and that machine never gets doubles.

The account that I am receiving duplicate emails was set up last night. I am leaving the emails on the server, if that has any bearing. I am running OS 10.6.2.

I'm pretty sure I didn't delete them, so does anyone know if Mail.app automatically delete emails from your inbox after a period of time? If so, how does one change this behavior (preferably to 'never').

Jan 27, 2010If I create an email that is saved as a draft while I'm still writing the email, when it finally sends Mail doesn't delete the email from the drafts folder.
I only use MobileMe in Mail, so I'm not sure if this is a problem with MobileMe or with Mail. It happens periodically on both my MacBook and iMac.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Sending Duplicate Emails Using Mail And MBox For Mac
May 28, 2012I have been sending duplicate emails inadvertently recently. It seems it's when I use mBox for mac (registered copy) in Mail to use my Hotmail with IMAP. I hadn't noticed it at first, but now I see every time I send a mail I get 2 copies in my sent box. I can turn off the store sent messages on server option to fix it (but that's the whole point of having IMAP!). Or I can turn off mBox for mac and it also seems to work (but then I can't use IMAP!).
I've also tried on the same machine from gmail, and iCloud accounts (MobileMe), and I had no issue at all. I've also tried 2 different Hotmail accounts, and both of them send double messages every time I send. I think anyone still using a hotmail account will eventually install something like mBox for mac if they've gone Mac recently - as I have. I checked the mail headers of the 2 mails, and they are quite different (masked where appropriate) -

Feb 19, 2008My notes get synced to an email address. So i click the notes icon in mail, not the email inbox they are associated with and i see every single not ever created. On top of that there are two instances of each note. So i deleted the ones i don't need anymore and closed my notebook, went on my way. come home. open mail. clicknotes, and they are all still there. two of each notes, includeing notes i've never written anything in. ones that i just clicked not was about to write something, and didn't save it. How do i get rid of this stuff?

Feb 27, 2009I have a problem deleting several emails from the Trash Folder in Mail. All of them are me.com emails.
Around the time this happened I had a problem with my Apple Base Station so maybe it has to do with my losing the internet a short time but there are 7 emails greyed out that I simply cannot delete. I press delete and nothing happens. Any idea how I can get rid of these? Any other emails I get I can simply delete.

Jun 20, 2012I have emptied the Trash and set preferences for all my email accounts so that emails are permanently erased on quitting Mail.I also selected Rebuild from the Mailbox pull-down menu. I bought an email archiving program called MailSteward. When I run it, it pulls in many thousands of emails that I have already deleted from Mail. This is no good at all!The programmer of MailSteward
(By the way, MailSteward does not go online to find emails: it just looks on my computer. Also, these supposedly deleted emails were sent to my mac.com account and my gmail account, so it's not .Mac or gmail that's the problem.)

When I delete an email it disapears - BUT - then it magically reappears in Mail.Â
When I delete emails they also do not go into the trash folders.Â
I am having to log on individually to all three email accounts and delete messages from their interface. Total waste of my time.Â
I have looked at the settings in preferences - behaviors and I have checked "Move deleted messages to the trash mailbox" I did not check "Store deleted messages" I selected permanently erase deleted messages when "one week old".Â

Mar 6, 2012I have much of the junk emails that come to me auto set to go to the Trash folder through Junk Filter settings. However, when I do a Command>A, to choose all the email in the Trash folder, and then click on Delete, the junk emails I never opened don't delete until I do it again or click on each one and then click Delete. All the other emails I moved there manually will disappear using the Command>A and Delete, just not those that went there by filter rules I set up.

Jun 23, 2014I have 128 GB HDD and many emails syncing by Gmail IMAP. Thousands of emails are stored on my HDD and most of them I will never use in the future. Despite this I'd like to keep them in gmail server, just for case...Â
I was trying to reduce size of my Mail.app for very long time and nothing works correctly. Â
Ideal situation would be something like this:
E-mails older than 2 months will automatically delete from Mail.app but not from server. Or it doesn't have to be automatic, but I have to keep them on gmail.com. I'm not sure if it is possible with IMAP.Â

Oct 21, 2010ive got a decent sized itunes library, 20,393 songs/125.5 gbs of music in the program, but over time as i have added files a lot of times id get duplicate files so i would delete those, and when i deleted them i didnt always press the move to trash button, and just for what ever reason would sometimes press the keep file button, so now at this point after doing this for a while i now have a music folder that is 168gbs of music, when i really only have 125 in itunes so is there any program or way to automatically delete those duplicates, because it would take a rediculous amount of time to go and find and delete each one individually obviuosly.

The Automator application seems phenomenal in theory I just haven't learned all the ins and outs yet, but i see the concept that it was designed for (Jobs = Genius). Long story short I was streaming all of my music over from my PC and it got interrupted twice. I kept streaming to the same folder but it never prompted me to replace existing files of the same name. So I figured it would do it automatically. To my dismay that wasn't the case at all. I now have 9,000 songs and at least 4,000 of which are duplicates/Triplets. I wanted to know if there was some way to streamline the process of deleting and purging all these files out of my Music Folder/Itunes Library, Via the Automator program or any other program you know of.
