OS X V10.7 Lion :: 10.7.4 Update Duplicated Mailboxes - Lost All Emails On Rebuild
May 19, 2012Two of my six mailboxes were duplicated after the update, so I deleted the duplicates in mail preferences. However, the original mailboxes then lost all email content and showed only the headers, so I rebuilt them both and hey presto - instantly lost the entire contents of both mailboxes, including headers. Any ideas for recovering? Have tried hosting server but emails have also gone from there.

Sep 9, 2004I have been getting duplicate emails for a while now (17" powerbook 1.5ghz g4, 10.3.5). Sometimes I get 12 copies of the same email! I tried trashing the prefs and that helped for a few days, but it keeps coming back. I also setup and tested my mail account on another machine and that machine never gets doubles.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Sending Duplicate Emails Using Mail And MBox For Mac
May 28, 2012I have been sending duplicate emails inadvertently recently. It seems it's when I use mBox for mac (registered copy) in Mail to use my Hotmail with IMAP. I hadn't noticed it at first, but now I see every time I send a mail I get 2 copies in my sent box. I can turn off the store sent messages on server option to fix it (but that's the whole point of having IMAP!). Or I can turn off mBox for mac and it also seems to work (but then I can't use IMAP!).
I've also tried on the same machine from gmail, and iCloud accounts (MobileMe), and I had no issue at all. I've also tried 2 different Hotmail accounts, and both of them send double messages every time I send. I think anyone still using a hotmail account will eventually install something like mBox for mac if they've gone Mac recently - as I have. I checked the mail headers of the 2 mails, and they are quite different (masked where appropriate) -

Intel Mac :: Why Does It Report A Duplicate IP Address
Mar 10, 2012A few days ago, my wife told me that she was having some serious performance problems on her iMac, and showed me. While she was doing this, a window popped up announcing that there was a duplicate IP address for the 192.168.1.20 that we'd set her iMac to. I did a bit of digging, checking all our machines for that address, and trying to contact it to see if it would identify itself. Everything failed. None of our machines (that we know of) is using 192.168.1.20, and attempts to contact it via tools like ping, telnet, ssh, and various brousers all report "not responding".Â
I changed her address to 192.168.1.21, and the problem went away. But I'm still worried about the claim that 192.168.1.20 is in use. This seems to say that there's an unknown machines using it in our house. Â
So is there some way that her iMac or either of our Macbooks (or here iPad) can identify it, or at least contact it and give us some clues about what sort of beastie it might be?Â
We also have some linux systems, a Windows box, and a couple of smartphones with wifi, and tests from them have also failed, so I'll probably be asking on their lists, too.Â
My first suspect was the airport, but I verified that its DHCP server is giving out addresses in the .101 to .199 range that I set it to. Its config stuff doesn't show the .20 address anywhere that I can find.Â
(I did try setting one of the linux systems to use 192.168.1.20, and it didn't report any address conflicts. I don't know what this tells me. So I set it back to its original 192.168.1.42 address. ;-)
