How come every time I drag something on my timeline I have to render? If I expand or move it on the timeline I have to render again. It's really a pain and I was told it shouldn't be doing this.
Also, I imported my video onto Color to do some correction and when I send it back to Final Cut Pro, it's very small. I tried changing the geometry but it's still not as big as the original.
I have a bunch of photos in the timeline in iMovie HD and want to shorten and lengthen their duration in the movie. Usually I can just drag the edge of the photo to shorten/lengthen it but a setting isn't allowing me do this....does anyone know what that setting is, what I have to change?

I go to File, Open select my video file(mp4) and open it. It plays with no problem in the preview window in fcp. But when I drag it onto the time line the video plays but there is just loud beeps continously.Nothings wrong with the video clip. I tried several different ones. Sometimes it doesnt play the video at all and just says unrendered when i put it on the timeline.

I've converted both into the same format so it'll work, I've restarted final cut pro, I've restarted the computer, I've repaired disk permissions, i've done render all. All worked at certain points but for the rest it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been working on some making some video clips that are ipod commericals (to eventually do the whole thing on imovie) but after 4-5 videos being finished, I work on the next one and right in the middle of rendering, it just freezes and doesn't do anything else, or when I try to just export it it does that, but before it works fine. I tried removing a couple extra effects I aded, and it still does it.

Notice Firefox shows the outlines of the text boxes. Is there anyway to correct this? Or is this a problem with Firefox? I believe it renders correctly in Chrome as well.
I have tried google, but I'm now resorting to macrumors.
Basically the I updated to 10.6.5 and updated to the latest Java. The problem I now have is with some statistics software called SPSS, it can't render graphs anymore because of the java update.
I've been struggling trying to fix the problem and I can't get it to work.
If I revert back in time machine will it change the system files back so that my software will work again??
Would it be better to do a clean erase and restore from time machine, do I need to use my SL disk for this?
I just opened a FC project in 6.0 from an XML file for the first time. The project originally came from 6.0.6 and I was happy to see that this kind of reversion was actually possible. Unfortunatly after doing a little work I started getting "general error" messages whenever I tried to save the project or render any transitions.
If I remeber correctly, I opened the XML and was asked to save a new project. I saved the project and started working. I dont remeber if any saves or rendering had worked in the new project before I got the error messages. Maybe none of them worked, I am not sure.
I need to create a timeline for a project, it needs to show a list of releases of different products, I also need to be able to create one that shows how these items can run parallel to each other. Is there anything that would be suited to the task? (a free solution is best, I only need to use it this one time).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm planning to reinstall Snow Leopard. I'm using Time Machine. I want to avoid automatic solutions like "Restore from Time Machine backup" and the Migration Assistant because I want to make sure my system stays clean.
This is how I imagine it:I boot my freshly installed system, plug in my Time Machine external drive, open it with Finder and start dragging back all the stuff I need (Photos, Music and Documents) just as if it were a regular external hard drive with files on it. Then I will reinstall all applications manually.
Will this work? Please tell me if you have ever tried this and whether it worked. Will this not cause problems with permissions or anything like that?
Suddenly .pdf files accessed via a link render to an empty page. I reset Safari and cleaned the caches ... even downloaded and did a reinstall. Nada. Every one of the links works in other browsers such as FireFox and all links used to work in Safari.

I've had this problem for a while, but never really cared, because I didn't use the Themes. Now, I need to use them and remembered, they don't work. I've tried everything! Nothing fixes it! It goes down to the little clip viewer thing and has an empty red bar, but it doesn't start rendering! I've completely trashed iMovie and all its files and reinstalled it and it still doesn't fix it! Safari tries to load web pages 3 or 4 or 5 times with the page actually partially rendering, then stops trying to load with a "Safari Web Content quit unexpectedly." At that point, it is unresponsive to the keyboard, but the menu works with the mouse. I have disabled extensions, plug-ins, Java and JavaScript. Crash report below. Chrome quit working on the same day. I can't even view preferences as I get an "aw, snap" and nothing renders at all.The keyboard continues to be responsive. Preferences, History and Bookmarks won't render. I deleted everything that starts with Chrome and reinstalled from a fresh download.
I repaired permissions and got a number of errors but no changes in behavior. I upgraded three other Macs to the same level and had no issues.

I am running Final Cut Pro 7 and I have a clip that already has RGB Balance filter and Key filter on it. I am adding Brightness Contrast or any of the other Gamma Correction type filters to the clip, It lets me adjust the filter but when I render it this filter is not included in the render. I have done some experimenting and it seems that the RGB balance is what is stopping this filter from being applied.
I have tried with all the possible filters that will let me adjust the levels on the image, I have tried taking the clip with the first two filters and nesting it then applying the new filter to the nested clip but nothing seems to work. This clip is too dark...

Running FCP X 10.1.2Â ... I wanted to verify a few things with the community about media mgmt that the white paper really doesn't explain to well. My archiving procedure is as follows:Â
I import media to an Event to offload footage from camera/card. I then close FCP X, open the finder and open the library and "show package contents" and then pick the original media folder. I then copy that folder to another offsite drive I have dated by year -> folder.Â
Example: 2014 - Footage from Colorado. (I do this to always store my original media outside any project I'm working on for future reference. This is ok, correct? Is there a better way?)Â
Second, I learned the other day that if I want to archive/backup libraries or even clean up the library,it is good practice to remove all rendered/transcoded media files. It is pretty simple from the "file" menu to do this. Question, if I just removed the rendered media, how long does it take again before FCP X background tasks starts working / rendering media again? Do I stop this somehow so I have time to backup the library? I thought this process was automated after a few seconds?Â

I would like to be emailed a notification that my render has been complete.
I can't seem to find any info on how to set up an email notification when a render is complete.
My Compressor is on a computer that is used by many people so I don't want to have an applescript create an email via apple mail as that would mean my emails would be available on that machine.
I seem to remember on version 3 this being available but I can not even find the settings in compressor 4.1.2. How this can be done?
I updated my Final Cut Pro X to version 10.1.3. Now if i want to create a project and ad clips, these clips are not rendering.

This is starting to cheese me off. iMovie '09 is acting pretty strange. It does not let you drag titles into the storyboard, unless they are at the very beginning. Is this some kind of bug.
I have used iMovie '08 for months without issue, but this is my first project in '09, and it won't let my drag a friggen title in!
I also noticed that the red playhead likes to freeze where it is at random times, it stops moving with the mouse. Clicking the mouse-pointer button in that middle toolbar has no effect.
For some reason when I go to drag music to a playlist in iTunes, it will not move. Then I restart the program and it will work, but only for a little while and then it is back to not being able to move again. I tried clearing the preference files and no luck.

I have also tried adding jpeg's to iphoto and then emailing them through the button on the bottom. iphoto even asks me whether to use the original size, but when the email comes out on the other end it is always considerably smaller. When I add pdf's it keeps it original size. Does anyone have any advice?

And most of the time i realised i need a function like this. for example i am in folder1/folder2 ..and just want to take file from folder2 to folder1... but since there is not any "go one node above" option, i have to open everythng from the beginning... especially if those folders are located in a deep location such as user/lib/appsup/etc.

I downloaded a beta test recently, now it's finished I have the folder sitting in my Applications folder, but it won't let me drag it out into the trash. I've logged in as an Administrator, changed my regular ID to have Admin status, none of it works. I've got the CCleaner app from the App Store, same issue. It tells me I need to be an Admin to uninstall files, but even when I log in as the Admin, it gives me the same message.
