For some reason when I go to drag music to a playlist in iTunes, it will not move. Then I restart the program and it will work, but only for a little while and then it is back to not being able to move again. I tried clearing the preference files and no luck.

I have a fair bit of music in iTunes, and it has bugged me somewhat that often when I want to delete many files something it's easier to go into a playlist to find them. But when I delete them from there it only removes them from that playlist, not the computer. I guess this makes sense, and I suppose nowadays space isn't often a problem.
In case this isn't clear, what I want to do is go into a playlist, then select songs, then delete those songs from my hard drive.
Is there a way I can make a playlist of songs that are only in the playlist and cant be found in the music library? In other words an independent playlist with songs not from the library.

When I drag music from a folder to iTunes, the green plus shows up but iTunes doesn?t do anything. It doesn?t import or even play the songs (when I double click them). I have write access to Music and Music/iTunes.

I have several thousand songs organized with a certain Artist/Album/Song structure. I also have uncategorized folders in my music folder with a bunch of random songs inside. Is there a way to sort the music list in iTunes by location, so I can choose all the songs in that folder to add to a playlist, or can I make a smart playlist that takes all the songs in the folder (and scans for new ones whenever)? If not, is there something else I can do to accomplish this?

Programs for simple tasks like uploading music onto devices should be efficently coded, not resource hogs that are incredibly unintuitive and needlessly complicated. Why can't we just drag and drop music and videos directly onto our phone like we can with just about every other media player? I already have all of my music organized just as I want it on my computer. Just let me drag the folders I want directly into the iPhone without having to bother with a 100mb download that runs like crap.

I use iTunes a lot in a classroom environment. Usually I play most songs from playlists. But every now and then I need to move to a song quickly that is not in that current playlist. My habit is to enter the new song's title in the search bar, but that doesn't work because if I am currently playing a playlist, the search bar only searches that current play list. Then I have to select the total music library and search from that level.
is there a fast way to search the entire music library for a song while a playlist is currently selected in iTunes?

Recently downlaoded music from iTunes. It shows up on main user library, but not on second user music library which is also in shared folder. As a result, second user can not add newly downloaded music to a playlist and then sync to iphone/pod. It does not show up in what is supposed to be the shared music library.

I am not able to sync individual songs as gives the no entry symbol when trying to drag over iphone and music. If I press autofill on the bottom it transfers the entire music library just can't do individual songs. Also can't sync any books. I am running itunes 10.6. Can do any of this on my iphone 4 on my own itunes account but not on wife's new account.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't know when this started, but it's been the case for months: let's say I drag 10 albums' worth of files to copy to my iPhone (under manually manage music)--that will take a minute or so to copy via wi-fi. But, now, if I drag another album over to copy before the previous batch of 10 has finished transferring, the 10-album transfer is canceled, and the new album starts copying in its place. Before, dragging new files over to the phone during a copy would add to a "queue" such that your current copy job was not canceled.

Just went from Windows to mac and want to bring my windows itunes playlists. when I hit export and save it on a usb and hit import in mac itunes, then I get the playlist but its all empty. However, when we attempted to import the cd to my Niece's windows computer the CD title as well as each song were titled "we suck". This is very odd because the titles are correct when viewing the CD using my MacBook. Has anyone ever seen this before? Could this be a virus or something?

The Energy saver shut down schedule option is too rigid for me. View 13 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to iTunes, and have burned dozens of CDs before. However, all of those CDs have been complete albums. I tried to burn my first mix recently, and found that the CD had been burned with the songs in the wrong order.
I must be doing something wrong, but there doesn't seem to be too many areas where iTunes makes it even possible to mess something this simple up, so I pretty confused.
I make a playlist, hit burn CD, select Audio CD, and go. The songs make it, but like I said, in the wrong order. They get organized by album, but I just want the CD to look like the playlist on the computer.
Has anyone run into something like this? It is iTunes 8.0.2.
Alright, so I have two songs by The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and With a Little Help from My Friends. If you don't already know, these songs cut into each other, so if you play With a Little Help right after Sgt. Pepper, it will sound like one song (this was intended). What my problem is is that the way that the songs are sorted (by Artist), With a Little Help from My Friends is before Sgt. Pepper, where it should be vice-versa. Is there any way I can fix this problem, without having to change the way the songs are sorted (I like them organized that way) or creating a playlist? Maybe an Applescript or application?
