View 1 Repliesjust recently, as of 2 or 3 days ago, I suddenly cannot drag songs in itunes anymore. More specifically, I can't add songs to playlists, and I can't manage songs in the playlists. anyone else having this problem, or is this something new in itunes? (I should say that I haven't used itunes in a few weeks, and the only thing I've done is download the latest updates
View 24 Replies View Relatedup until a few days ago...maybe after 9.0.3 update...on my macbook pro under snow leopard, im certain i could drag files from itunes library or a playlist into the trash.
if i drug the file from the library to the trash, you would here the trash can "eating sound" and it would be gone from the library (one step). if it was from a playlist, it would delete that file from the playlist but not from the library as expected. now, i cant do either. now i have to right click and delete the file/s and then click move to trash.
I was helping a friend by reformatting his pc and reinstalling windows because it was slow, when I was downloading the drivers for it on my MacBook Pro (didn't have access to the router since it's downstairs and his pc didn't have a wireless card), it downloaded a folder filled with locked files, it comes several folders deep and all of the files are locked, fun. So I tried to delete it using sudo rm -r, but it says I don't have sufficient privileges, anyone know a command I can use to delete it all? I'd rather not do it by hand, that'd take forever.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAnybody see this before? I opened up Terminal.app and the window is completely blank. There is nothing in it whatsoever. Looks as if bash never started. The title bar simply says "Terminal — login — 80x24". I can type whatever I want in the Terminal window like it's a text document and nothing happens. If I restart the computer, this seems to fix the problem, but it seems to only be a temporary fix as the issue happens again soon after.

the application "terminal" is not allowed "terminal is not on the approved list of applications. contact the person who set up you accout for more info

I have a MacBook Pro and all of a sudden.... I can't move any files! I can't drag them to the trash... I can't drag them into different folders... can't drag icon's from the dock and so on. Does anyone have any ideas?

Any way I try does not work, not even the shortcuts.
I think it is because I deleted the StartUpitems folder thinking it was Start Up Items. I was going through deleting anything with the name of a application I no longer used. I do not know what to do, but I cannot drag or paste any files.
It afects all users. Is there anything besides Install and Archive that I can do?
I do not have an install disk.
When I try to drag a folder from a DVD-R to my MacBook Pro, i get the "can't do this" icon, a circle with a diagonal line thru it. i also can't drag any of the files inside the folder to my mac either.
(It's a pro tools project folder containing pro tools files and audio files.)haven't run into this before. a colleague tried to do it and it failed on her computer too.
I've been experiencing some kind of trouble with drag & drop in Finder and desktop.Whenever I click+drag a file, I can't release this file. I click, right click, space bar, whatever, and the file stills on drag for some time and then it releases itself.
When I reboot everything is fine, until after some time it starts with the problem again.Just now what I noticed was: when the file is locked on drag, if I do ESC+click it releases but I can't move files or anything else.
I can't drag and drop files/folders nor even move anything on my desktop....
I have to say the "upgrade" to Lion has been the most frustrating ever.
I'm not too sure what forum this fits in.I'm looking for suggestions for a work-around solution. My files are beyond chaotic. I want to search document contents for a topic (that I have hundreds of files on, but all over the place) using the finder. Then, I want to be able to drag and drop all the files into a topic folder. But, the search/finder window does not permit drag-and-drop functionality.
To me, this is hugely frustrating. It would be the easiest way for me to organize my mad mad files.I'm looking for suggestions for how I can do this? I'm on MacBook Pro OS 10.6.4
So I have a friend who is a pc who gave me his hp hard drive with simple save, one of those hard drives with software that com pies things automatically. When I plug it in it show up fine and I can look in the folder and I have read write access as you would expect on any hard drive. But when I try to drop stuf in I can't, and I obviously can't reformat it because he needs to use it. Any idea to work around it or what may cause this issue?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got a Sumvision Cyclone Media Player and connected to my mac book pro. It found the drive called as "New Volume". Open the folder and had different folders inside: Movies, Music, Pictures, System Volume Information. If I get into the folders as for example "Movies" files I cannot drag any files to the folders since a message comes for example:
The item "XXXXX.avi" could not be moved because "New Volume" cannot be modified. What should I do? Is that because I am using a Mac computer? And if so do I need to erase and reformat the drive or what? Desperate here.
I want to drag and drop some files from one folder to another. But I want to keep the original. Can that be done on OSX?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty new to mac and a pro windows user. It's not been a month since I bought my first mac and now I'm feeling so comfortable with it.
I have a basic question on how to select a few files, drag and drop it into a new folder in the same folder level
For example, In windows I do this
1. Select few files in C:Temp
2. Cut those
3. Create a new folder and rename it C:TempNewTemp
4. Right click the folder and Paste it.
This is what I do in Mac now
1. Choose the files to be moved into a new folder (When I'm about to drag it, I remember that I've not created the new folder! Grr..)
2. Create a new folder and all my selection is gone
3. Now reselect all the files again and drop it to the new folder (Phew!)
Am I missing the cut feature in finder??? I know that 'Cut' is not much required in mac since everything works on DragNDrop.
I'm not sure whether there is any workaround for people like me who are used to selecting the files before creating a target folder. I'm sure that there should be something which can help me create a folder onthefly while dragging the files and keeping the selection intact.
How do you select multiple files to drag from one folder to another? Is there a command?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am just learning Terminal and so far it has been fun but frustrating. I'm learning from online manuals and the manual within Terminal so everything is pretty verbose for someone that doesn't know the language yet. I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere, but the search gave me many results about moving files to the Trash or making a folder hidden. These are not my concerns for today. And for the reference, I know this can be done as a "drag-and-drop" operation in Finder, but as I said, I'm learning
So I am trying to move a couple of PDFs from my Documents folder to one I created within the Documents folder.
I'm planning to reinstall Snow Leopard. I'm using Time Machine. I want to avoid automatic solutions like "Restore from Time Machine backup" and the Migration Assistant because I want to make sure my system stays clean.
This is how I imagine it:I boot my freshly installed system, plug in my Time Machine external drive, open it with Finder and start dragging back all the stuff I need (Photos, Music and Documents) just as if it were a regular external hard drive with files on it. Then I will reinstall all applications manually.
Will this work? Please tell me if you have ever tried this and whether it worked. Will this not cause problems with permissions or anything like that?
On my G4 800MHZ Power PC I run OS 10.1.5 while running OS 9 in the background - I never upgraded my system out of FEAR - I publish 2 monthly magazines and have never been crazy enough to take the step.I have just encountered a HUGE PROBLEM because my superdrive has decided not to burn any type of DVD I have purchased - I HAVE PURCHASED THEM ALL. and it just does nothing when I put the disk in. What I am hoping to find is an external DVD burner that will run using OS 10.1.5 - I am happy burning through the finder - I do not need any fancy software just a drive that will work and allow me to mount the DVD so I can drag and drop files.
