View 5 RepliesAa above, Firefox has stopped loading pages. Any pages.
All I get is a white box with 'Search Bookmarks & History' in the search box. (see pic)
I deleted everything FF related from my drive, as well as the app & started from scratch. Downloaded a fresh version from their website, installed, and still nothing. Tried the obvious & rebooted - nothing.
I've been having this problem in 3.5 and 3.6...any time I mouse over text or an image that has a tooltip (the little yellow text box), I just get a blank yellow box. Take xkcd, for example. The main comic (image) always pops up a text box. But all I see is a small blank box, like it's displaying a space or something.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhopefully this is the right place to ask this. my audio streaming doesnt work with firefox 3 but it works with safari on my macbook pro running 10.4.11. firefox 3 will stream video but not audio and it still downloads everything correctly. it was working perfect for a while and then all of the sudden boom no audio streaming. let me give you all a link to a zshare audio file so you can get an idea whats going on

this song will not stream for me. anyone know how i can get firefox to stream?
I don't know what my wife did to her 13" white MacBook, but Firefox is slow as molasses. Safari is working perfectly, but all of her bookmarks are in Firefox. I made sure she was on the correct network, than added opendns settings to DNS. I downloaded and installed the most recent Firefox and repaired permissions on the drive. I rebooted - same problem. Random beachballs causing the app to be useless. Safari works perfectly, so it's not an Internet issue. I haven't tried other apps to be sure but right now it seems confined to Firefox.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2009 mac mini - 2.26 ghz, 2gb ram, 160gb hdd yadda yadda.
It was working fine until this morning. Whenever I click on an application in the dock, it opens up the applications folder. And whenever I click a link in firefox, it opens in a new tab, and is incredibly annoying!
the Firefox addons on Mozilla's website work on OSX when using Firefox? I just wanted to make sure since I like using all of the apps on my firefox configuration and was thinking about buying a mac. I know a lot of 3rd party apps that aren't specifically made for Mac at times will not work
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new mbp. (old one's logic board and cpu died)
With my old mbp(leopard) everything flash related was working perfectly fine.
The new mbp, Flash works with every other browsers such as Safari and Opera.
However, when using Firefox to watch videos or browse websites, Flash thinks my left mouse click is my right click. So whenever I try to pause a video or play it, flash opens up "About Flash Player 10"
Anyone know why the spell checker in Firefox doesn't work?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Firefox installed and everything seems to be updated and enabled, but for some reason Java is not working. It works in Safari.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI switched from PC to iMac last week . I am very excited by the performance of Mac OSX and display of the new 21.5" iMac. The only problem I face is that quicktime movies are not played in safari/firefox. Safari waits indefinitely for loading the quicktime movie , firefox shows a big 'Q ?'. Don't know what that means.
This frustrating because I can't view any of the tutorial movies in the apple website. It is ironic that apple's own format is not playing on the new iMac.
The OS is Mac OSX 10.6.2 . Flash is playing well in the same machine. I am new to mac .
Last few days my flash no longer works.
YouTube videos play (can hear sound) but just a black box, unless I full screen I can see it. All other flash (e.g. Dailymotion, Vimeo) don't play at all.
Works fine on Safari, but not on Firefox and Chrome.
I have uninstalled Flash, no luck.
Is this something to do with the hardware acceleration?
I have a silver unibody MacBook.
EDIT: I'm on 10.6.3 Snow Leopard
I have 10.5.8 and I think I read that in the latest FF update, Java is disabled and with my version of software, no way to make it work anymore. Is this true? I have an onlime game that I think requires Java to play and I cannot access the game today and am wondering if that is the reason. I could play yesterday, but not today, it hangs when loading. It could be the game site itself, but I got to thinking about Java and did some research and saw that Java is only supported now in 10.6 and higher. If it is a java issue, is there any way to get it back and working with my system? I tried accessing it using Safari, same issue, hangs in same place.
Info:
mbp intel dual core, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
I think what I'm talking about are javascript links...when you go to, for example, [URL] I'm talking about the links in the box on the right labeled "Most Watched Video." None of the links IN THAT BOX work for me. By "work" of course I mean go anywhere or do anything. It's as if I'm clicking in an area of a page without links.
This happens for me in other sites with similar links. What gives?!
I've checked Firefox and am running the latest version of javascript. I'm also running the latest version of Firefox 3.6.8. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.4.11 - old system software, I realize, but I simply haven't been able to afford moving beyond this (plus my Mac is a Macbook, 2GB RAM, 80GB HD - old unit).
I visit a website which is internet radio site [URL] When I visit in IE on my work PC the music stream plays automatically.
When I try from my MacBook Pro (both Firefox and Safari it attempts to launch Quicktime (which just hangs)
How do I get the audio to play from within the website?

I can't access Gmail on my Macbook or iMac. They both are connected wirelessly and I have tried Firefox and Safari. Right now it's only Gmail that I can't access but sometimes it's the whole Google domain. I've got the correct DNS settings for my ISP as well as running Safari in 64-bit mode. My Windows PC (on the same router as the Macs) connects to the Google domain fine.
Info:
Mac OS X (10.6.8)
When I started using Firefox with my macbook, If I mispelled a word, It shows a red line under it, and I would double click it and it give me a list of words to choose from. Now it doesnt do this and just gives me the regular right click window.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi know safari is default cuz its apple and all.. but what do you guys have as a separate option:
Google Chrome
Firefox 3.5
Firefox 4 Beta
Opera
Just safari
just curious.. wanting to put a browser but not too sure. (on my desktop PC, i have firefox 4), but i would like to know
I've never been much of a Firefox fan. I think it feels too much like a Windows app, it's not as integrated into OS X as Safari and, in my opinion, it hasn't been as fast as Safari. I have to give it props for having add-ons and extensions but it creates a lot of security problems and conflicts with other extensions. I don't understand why so many people like Firefox so I just want to ask: Why do all of you like Firefox?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a Firefox add on that will allow me to select a word and right click and select some kind of "view definition" or something.
I've done a search and fond a really good one, but it's not available for the latest version of FF. I've also seen a few that were PC only but the rest I've been finding are more like spell checkers.
notice the studdery video and scrolling in firefox? I searched on google a while back and found a thread that said it was firefox saving the tabs every 5 seconds that caused the lag. So I set firefox to save them every 5mins or something and that worked for a while but now the problem has returned.
View 7 Replies View Relateddoes anyone know if there is a download link for IE plugin firefox for Mac or IE for Mac.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I attempt to open a pdf file in Firefox I get a dialog box asking me to "Open with" or "Save to Disk"? The problem is the "Open with" lists only an old app that I no longer have, and doesn't give me a choice to select which app to use. If I go ahead and click OK it opens in Preview which is fine, but why does the dialog box only show an old app that is no longer available? How this this info get filled in, and how can I fix this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was forced by evil powers to use a Windows machine for a few days, as I sold my Mac Mini and I'm waiting for my new MacBook. Right now I'm writing in Firefox on a PowerBook that I borrowed, and I'm ashamed to say that I miss a feature from Internet Explorer 7's tab handling.
I love tabs, I have 10 or 20 of them opened at a time, IE7 is really slow with tabs, but it has a feature that I liked: When you have, let's say, 10 tabs open, and you are on tab #1, and a new tab opens from a link inside #1, it won't go to #11 like in Firefox, it opens between tabs #1 and #2.
I'm embarrassed, but I like it. Any extension that do that in Firefox?
I've tried searching for this and haven't found another thread so please forgive me if I missed it. I really need to get Firefox working.I'm running a Dual 1.42GHz PowerPC G4 with 1.75Gb of RAM I had Firefox 3.0.3 running great with OSX 10.5.4.I install the new 10.5.5 update and now Firefox won't start up. I double click on the Icon in the Icon bar and it bounces a couple of times then.....nothing. I try double clicking the icon in the Applications folder
View 12 Replies View RelatedIs there a search extension out there that will display the first result from each of your installed search engines as you type? For example, says I type "Adam" and I have google, facebook, IMDB, and Wikipedia as my search engins; the extension would display the first result from google, facebook, etc in the window that pops up as you type. Then if I hit return (without clicking anything that pops up) it would take me to my default search (google).
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas Firefox been crashing for anyone lately? Opera also crashed on me too, for the first time.
Iv'e download software like Net Beans and CodeBlock, CodeLite.
I have downloaded Adblock. I want to put it on Firefox. When I open the download it says "There is no default application specified to open the document "adblock_plus-1.0.2-fx+sm+tb.xpi". I can either cancel of "choose application". When I choose application, nothing comes up I can do this with. Basically I don't know what to do or how to do it. I could not find the info on Adblock.org.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have always used firefox. But lately when trying to access web sites it seems to take so much longer. I can open the same website in safari and it is so much faster. I know it has nothing with my internet speed because my download speed is around 16 down and 1 up. I also don't believe it is the DNS because safari can load it much faster. Try different news sites such as CNN.com or foxnews.com . Both seem to take a lot longer in firefox. Not sure if it has to do with all the adds that are in these pages. I should mention I am running a late 2008 iMac with 4gb of ram
View 19 Replies View RelatedIs the newest safari really any better than the newest firefox? It doesn't seem any faster and there are little things I miss that safari doesn't have.
Firefox has:
Addons
Personas
3-finger swipe to top/bottom
enter in google bar to igoogle page
better adblock
Safari:
Fits the "look"
Supposedly faster
dragging tabs looks a lot nicer (animated)
