I have a late 2009 mac mini - 2.26 ghz, 2gb ram, 160gb hdd yadda yadda.
It was working fine until this morning. Whenever I click on an application in the dock, it opens up the applications folder. And whenever I click a link in firefox, it opens in a new tab, and is incredibly annoying!
I don't know what my wife did to her 13" white MacBook, but Firefox is slow as molasses. Safari is working perfectly, but all of her bookmarks are in Firefox. I made sure she was on the correct network, than added opendns settings to DNS. I downloaded and installed the most recent Firefox and repaired permissions on the drive. I rebooted - same problem. Random beachballs causing the app to be useless. Safari works perfectly, so it's not an Internet issue. I haven't tried other apps to be sure but right now it seems confined to Firefox.
View 19 Replies View RelatedToday the OS X dock on my late '08 MacBook Pro 15" stop working like normal. It used to be, when an App was open, the icon would appear in the dock with a sort of highlight.
Now, the apps run fine but no longer appear in the dock. If I minimize it, it does show as a running app in the left hand side, but that isn't what I want it to do. Is there a quick way to get it to work again?
After restarting, Safari suddenly doesn't load any webpages. It shows all the top sites in the favorites area and actually updates some to the most recent versions, but when you try to get to the site it shows the loading bar to about an 1/8th of the way and then just pin wheels. Firefox works fine. I have used the reset to no avail. Have the current version and have been running it for a while with no problems.

I haven't been able to send or receive iMessages on my Macbook Pro or my iPad. They do not receive any incoming messages or have the ability to send out any messages. Every time I try to send a message to a phone number REGISTERED WITH IMESSAGE, this error message pops up. Even though iMessage refuses to work on both my iPad and my Macbook, it has been working flawlessly on my iPhone. Every number that I try (and fail) to send an iMessage to on both my iPad and my Macbook, I have been successfully able to send a message to on my iPhone with no problem.
This is what gets me: I have signed in to my Mac and my iPad with several other Apple IDs and iMessage works FINE when there is another Apple ID involved. There is no problem when someone else signs in using their Apple ID. So far, the only thing that has been affected is iMessage. All other aspects of iCloud work great. FaceTime hasn't stopped working once, for example.
I have had two separate cases with Apple Support about this issue. I have brought all my machines to the apple store TWICE, and they still couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Is it possible to get Firefox's icon in the dock to display an "open new window" option when clicked? This is an option for Finder's and Safari's icons.

Basically the I updated to 10.6.5 and updated to the latest Java. The problem I now have is with some statistics software called SPSS, it can't render graphs anymore because of the java update.
I've been struggling trying to fix the problem and I can't get it to work.
If I revert back in time machine will it change the system files back so that my software will work again??
Would it be better to do a clean erase and restore from time machine, do I need to use my SL disk for this?
Is anyone else having this issue. Always in the middle of a call it just cuts off. It always happens.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open a new tab it leaves the new tab blank and changes the tab I'm already working on...doesn't do this all the time, but enough to make it irritating. Basically it makes additional tabs uselesss
Also, if I am working successfully in 2 or more tabs for a while it will freeze on the last URL I used on the newest tab and not allow me to go to any new pages on any of the tabs...the only solution to this seems to be quitting Safari and restarting..PITA
I really like Safari, but it's been doing this to me for a few weeks now. Gonna go back to Firefox for the time being and hope that a future update fixes it.
So I haven't used Pandora in a while, and just started again last week. I figured I would grab one of the third party apps, so I didn't have to use Safari to listen. I tried PandoraJam, PandoraBoy, and PandoraMan, and none of them work right. I can listen to stations that I have already created, but I can not create a new station. Every time I try to type an artist or song in the box, it doubles every letter. For example say I wanted to search for "Train" If I try to type that in the search box it comes out "Ttrraaiinn." I know Pandora recently released their own App, so did they break 3rd Party apps, to promote Pandora ONE?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to find a better download management application than Speed Download. Whenever I run speed, and download more than one file at a time, my memory usage skyrockets and maxes out. System runs VERY sluggish, and i basically can't use my MBP until downloads are done.

It's too quick to click it with my mouse or see what the icon looks like. Nothing different shows up in my recent apps menu. Is there a way I can track what programs open on my Mac to find out what this program is? Or does anyone know what this could be?

I did most of the steps like using mozbackup and making it's exported files into a zip but when it came to replacing the folder they said on the mac I can't seem to find a firefox folder. Even the mozilla folder I found doesn't have anything in. I tried finding it by doing a search for the addons I have installed into firefox thinking I might locate it that way but no luck. Another webpage said I could find the location of the folder through fiefox itself but the way it told me also didn't seem to exist on my mac. How can I find my firefox folder?

Everytime I drag the Applications folder from the left side of the Finder window to the dock, I just see a poof of smoke and nothing gets added to the dock BUT the Applications folder from the left side of the Finder window disappears!!
Am I doing the dragging/dropping wrong or something? I've tried to add it to the right hand side of the dock (the side by the Trash can), and it still does the same thing.
I'm having a strange issue after upgrading to Leopard. When I try to open certain pages in Safari it instantly gives me the "Safari can?t find the server" message. When I try to open the same page in Firefox at the same time it opens normally. For many pages (like this one) Safari is working fine. My connection seems good and this is happening on reliable sites (currently Safari won't open apple.com).

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter trying to customize my icons with LiteIcon and CandyBar and everything, my dock refuses to show up, at all. When I go to Finder and then to Dock, it has the beach ball.
When I try to go to the Applications folder, it has the beach ball.
I've tried Terminal "killall Dock" but it doesn't appear to be a Dock problem, but rather an Application problem. Maybe even both.
This is my first week using a mac, I don't know what to do. I'm currently repairing disk permissions?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that occasionally my IR sensor stops working, and no longer responds to changing the volume, skipping the track in iTunes, etc. It can be resolved by going into Security prefs, disabling and re-enabling the IR sensor. This is annoying, however, and I'm wondering if it's a known issue that might be fixed.
I noticed that when you disable and re-enable the IR sensor, the last few remote button pushes you made while it was broken come through in a burst.
My Late 09 MacBook Air has been working a treat, not a spot of bother. All of a sudden, about 5 minutes ago, I've gone to go online to download some research papers (I'm *trying* to write an essay) and it won't load anything. Not even my Twitter app. It is connected to the right network, which is working absolutely fine on every other device in the house (windows computers, iphone etc). I've turned it off and on twice, the way that us clueless folk do.. now I don't know what to do.

I was deleting a file from my screen, and I accidentally removed my Document Folder so it is off my dock. Now next to the dashed lines to make the dock bigger, I only have my Application folder with the trashcan. I have no idea how my Document folder back on!
