Sep 7, 2009Last night I was doing work for Law School on my Macbook and began having trouble with Word. I had received numerous requests for updates but always click remind me later and I believe the uypdates automatically started and Word froze. Everytime I would restart Word it would lock up. Today I got my Macbook to turn on and was working on it and had the same problems. However now I cannot get it to turn back on and it is very hot. I have numerous important files on my Macbook and have not backed them up, will I be able to recover these files or are they lost forever?

Mar 17, 2012I have been trying to free up space on my macbook air all morning and haven't gotten anywhere.I have the 60GB 11inch version with OS 10.6.8..Finder says that I have only 900 MB remaining.I deleted about 8GB of TV shows and movies from iTunes directly from the folder, removed from trash and there was only about 1MB of change to remaining storage.I am using filevault, but cannot turn it off because I do not have space.Time machine is turned off - I have never specifed an external hard drive, so it it has never been turned on. Though the icon appears on the top.The size of the sparcebundle is 42GB, but the contect on the filevault account only reaches about 30 GB.I downloaded tinkertool and did not find any strange hidden files.I tried to repair and verify the disk using disk utility - no change

May 7, 2012for some reason after the last time i did a shutdown the mac now does not start up. I enter the password ,( correctly , i checked for caps lock etc..) it seems to accept it and then it blinks and takes me back to the login . The same thing happens on the guest account I had set up. different password entered correctly. OS is the lastest 10.7 with all the updates.

Jan 7, 2011I did like everyone else and downloaded the Mac App Store yesterday. After it was installed and my computer restarted, I noticed that some of my apps were missing (Reeder in particular). This is a legitimate app downloaded from their site and now it is gone with no official Mac App in the App Store (even though their is one in the iOS store). Should I be worried about the Mac store removing other apps I have installed? If I have a "borrowed" version of say MS Office, will the Mac App Store detect and remove it once office becomes available in the App Store?

May 30, 2012Under purchases I'm getting "you have not purchased any apps." Under Itunes in the Cloud all my apps are listed as hidden but when I click "view hidden purchases" it says I do not have any hidden purchases. I have three Macs and all are experiencing the same issue so this is an account problem and not a computer software problem. The funny thing is that it's still recognizing updates.Yes, I've tried signing out and back in to view my account with no luck. The only thing I did weird last night was I disabled the Itunes store and automatic downloading on one computer. This morning when I had the above problem I put all the settings back.Â

OS X :: Icons Missing In Finder / Apps And Video Icon Missing
Nov 30, 2010Over the last few days I've noticed a problem with missing icons. It seems to mainly effect icons in the Trash but I have one or two missing icons for videos and apps within the Finder and on the Desktop. The icon is completely gone - I have to click on the filename to select it. Quicklook works OK (for video).
I can't think of anything I've installed that would have done it except Onyx, but I haven't run that in weeks. I did repair permissions a few days ago but I doubt that could break this. It persists after a reboot. I can't get it to happen on command, it just randomly occurs. Creating a New Folder always works OK.

Click Change Store to view this article". If I click to change the Store from the Spanish to the American store, I have to fill the data but my ID apple is not working on the "foreign" store. What can I do? Is there a way to buy / download items from a different Itunes stores?Â

Apr 13, 2012On 6 th April my BT homehub2 updated it's firmware and that's when the problems started. Broadband went down completely and powerlineadapters adapters for bt vision fried. After 2 telephone support calls we eventually got the home hub reset and connected to broadband. Bt supplied two new powerlineadapters and bt vision is now working. Laptop, iPhones and iPad (and bt vision) all connect fine and work completely well.Â
My iMac running OS X 10.7.3, appears to work in that it connects no problem to home hub and when you run diagnostics it says your Internet connection appears to be working normally... However I cannot get a web page to load - I have tried chrome, Firefox and safari. The bizarre thing is using Outlook I can send and receive email, also my apple devices are still syncing via the iCloud - that would suggest that the iMac is indeed connecting wirelessly to the router and sending and receiving data - just no web pages at all - also it can't connect to things like iTunes store or apples app store... Everything was working fine until the firmware update! Â
Also may/may not be related but when I log in now I always have to manually connect to router, it always connects fine but it used to do it automatically, also recently upgraded to Lion and I have my doubts there too?Â

May 25, 2012Have just upgraded my macbook to Lion. I logged into the app store, bought, downloaded and installed Lion no problem.
After upgrade I returned to the app store to download ibooks author. I can find ibooks author but when I try and install the app I have to sign in and I get a "connection failed" error message.
The same happens in iTunes when I try and view my account - "The network connection failed"Â
I can access the internet with no problems - including secure sites. I can access software update with no problems.Â
I have made no changes to my network settings - could sign in and download apps before upgrade, unable to after upgrade.

May 1, 2012Receiving individual Final Cut X redemption codes for our fleet of MAC Minis begs the question; "How do we deploy this software". There must be a better(easier faster way) than to download, install and configure each machine separately. (This will take weeks). This software cannot, it seems, be deployed by Apple Remote Desktop. Is there anyway of downloading FC X to one MAC and cloning the image to the rest of the fleet?
