Jan 7, 2010Can anyone with experience using the Google browser vouch for what makes it so great? When I have tried it (on four different computers, different networks and locations) a lot of websites don't seem to work at all. I keep running into situations where some plugin seems to be required, but no plugin or fix exists. Why then are so many technology news sites writing such flattering reviews of this browser? Is it really fit to compete with Safari and Firefox?

Dec 16, 2009the preferences barely have any options to do anything? i wanna make the size of the letters bigger and have it as a default but i cant figure out how to do it. when i click zoom in it makes it bigger but as soon as i go to a different page it switches back to normal. anyone know if it can be done? im also trying to organize bookmarks and have a google toolbar at the top right of the browser like safari has. i dont even see a popup blocker. what gives? are these things possible to do with this browser?

OS X :: Why Google Docs So Slow On Mac?
Dec 27, 2007When Google Docs first came out I was very excited. The reason it suits me so well, is for my family finances. For budgeting, I've created a fairly advanced cash flow sheet on Google Spreadsheet. It gives me a quick glance at my month-to-month finances, and also, because it is Google Docs, I can make changes from anywhere with an internet connection and a web browser! Beyond that, my wife and I can view the document at the same time, and discuss changes in real-time.
But why is Google Docs so slow on my mac? At work, on my PC, Google Docs is quite fast, and an enjoy to use. At home, on my 5 year old iMac (using Firefox since Safari is not supported). I know my connection at home is faster, so that is not the issue, and up until a few days ago I assumed it was because my mac was so old. However, this weekend I went home and looked up my finances on my brother's brand new 24" 2.4Ghz iMac, and the same symptoms held true. Is the site not optimized for Macs?
Applications :: Application For Editing Photos Like On Windows?
Mar 20, 2009Close to pushing the 'buy now' button on an IMac after using Windows for a looong time, wondering what software I should be looking at to manipulate photos. From what I read iPhoto (Or Picasa for Mac?) will let me organise stuff perfectly fine but is a little basic for editing, Photoshop is WAY too expensive.
Which leaves what other options? I have PaintshopPro (old version, 7) on Windows, AFAICS its not available on Mac, Irfanview(free) which is excellent for basics like resizing (I presume iPhoto handles this?), and DCEnhance which is also free and does some automagic type changes to bring more detail out of shadows or put it back into highlights - any equivalents, either for free or pay?
Looks like Aperture might do the business, is that the 'tool of choice' for people who dont want to pay or have the large learning curve for Photoshop?

Apr 25, 2012In a Google text doc, there is a problem with line spacing such that all the lines in the doc are stacked up on the first line making it unreadable and unusable. I've had this problem with the last few releases of Safari but the problem has just become worse.

I would have about 5 tabs of it open in safari, be listening to music on iTunes, and probably have one or two microsoft office apps open. Would it run well, on both the 1.6 HHD and the 1.8 SSD? For my class we use a lot of google docs, and I heard that the Macbook air has some flash problems, so I need to know before I buy one.

Twice now I've edited the wrong document because when I click on a new Word doc, one that I worked on last automatic pops up on top of it. This is a ridiculous feature! Also, I don't need photos that I looked at yesterday magically opening when I open a new photo in Preview. That can be embarrassing if is someone is looking over my shoulder, if you know what I mean. Do I need to make sure I close all old docs instead of just quitting. Nov 25, 2010I have a problem accessing Google from Mac OS X 10.6.5 on my iMac9,1. I can access any other websites without a problem. I can access Google without a problem when I boot Win 7. I have tried restarting my ASDL modem/router. This was all working fine until a few days ago. I haven't made any networking-related changes in last few days.Here's what's happening. In Chrome 7.0.517.44 I can make an initial search from the search/address bar. All the content will appear but the page will never finish loading. A request for generate_204 from clients1.google.com.au never completes. Then I can cannot make any other Google requests without explicitly stopping the browser. Sometimes stopping the browser doesn't work and I have to quit it and start it again, then I can make another initial request, and the cycle repeats.

"Unable to connect" etc. etc. Every other site that I normally go to works fine. I'm pretty sure I don't have the virus because I didn't install flashplayer pkg. I also ran the check to find out if I had accidently ran the pkg with negative results. That being said I also read some of the answers to similar problems and ran a few checks on my own. I opened my network configuration and renewed my DHCP lease, restarted my cable moden and my router. I have also ran a ping on [URL] which came back normal but when I tried a lookup service to [URL] I got the folllowing: Lookup has started Trying [URL] Truncated, retrying in TCP mode.Trying [URL] Received 28 bytes from 192.168.1.1#53 in 3 msTrying [URL]Host not found: 5(REFUSED)Received 28 bytes from 192.168.1.1#53 in 4 ms It sounds like I have a permissions problem but I'm not sure which playlists to fix in my library. Maybe it's something else entirely.

Software :: Removing Google Updater From Application List
Jun 16, 2008I recently installed and then removed "Picasa Web Uploader". Along with that application came "Google Updater". I removed Google Updater from my applications list, and removed the /Users/mbeason/Library/Application Support/Google directory. Unfortnately, I still see a "Google Updater Helper" process in the process list when running activity monitor. I've done some research on Google. They indicate that you should be able to uninstall Google Updater from within the tool itself. However, I did not find this to be the case. I re-installed Picasa Web Uploader to get Google Updater and it provided no option to un-install itself. How do I squash this program once and for all?
