I love using Google Docs and would love to have all my school documents online rather than just on my computer in case one day i run out the door and forget to print out an assignment due that day. What options do I have to upload my documents quickly as opposed to uploading them 1 by 1?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen Google Docs first came out I was very excited. The reason it suits me so well, is for my family finances. For budgeting, I've created a fairly advanced cash flow sheet on Google Spreadsheet. It gives me a quick glance at my month-to-month finances, and also, because it is Google Docs, I can make changes from anywhere with an internet connection and a web browser! Beyond that, my wife and I can view the document at the same time, and discuss changes in real-time.
But why is Google Docs so slow on my mac? At work, on my PC, Google Docs is quite fast, and an enjoy to use. At home, on my 5 year old iMac (using Firefox since Safari is not supported). I know my connection at home is faster, so that is not the issue, and up until a few days ago I assumed it was because my mac was so old. However, this weekend I went home and looked up my finances on my brother's brand new 24" 2.4Ghz iMac, and the same symptoms held true. Is the site not optimized for Macs?
In a Google text doc, there is a problem with line spacing such that all the lines in the doc are stacked up on the first line making it unreadable and unusable. I've had this problem with the last few releases of Safari but the problem has just become worse.
If I click anywhere in the body of the doc I get: Google Docs error

I can view the original format of the doc with proper line spacing by selecing File > See original, but can't edit the doc at all.

Does google docs work flawlessly on a macbook air? I would have about 5 tabs of it open in safari, be listening to music on iTunes, and probably have one or two microsoft office apps open. Would it run well, on both the 1.6 HHD and the 1.8 SSD? For my class we use a lot of google docs, and I heard that the Macbook air has some flash problems, so I need to know before I buy one.

I've used SpanningSync and BusySync in the past, but had issues with each of them, and I would really appreciate any suggestions that anyone has that DO NOT involve the use of either of these paid third-party sync apps...

One of such programmes is a tiny one called RapidUploader (an official upload manager for [URL]). At this time I am using RSUploaderX for Mac OS as an alternative, but unfortunately it is veru unstable and stops with uploading from time to time. Could you tell me what application you use for uploading files to [URL]? Is there a good programme as the official RapidUploader for Windows?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy dad was saving a bunch of Word docs on his Mac - he had one large file that he split up into twenty-some smaller files, which he then saved onto both his desktop and on a flash drive. Somehow along the way (neither he nor I had any clue how) but 4 of those files saved as an alias that point to nowhere. In other words, I can't find the originals anywhere on his computer or flash drives.
Even stranger is that one of those files aliased to the Applications folder. Keep in mind these are all supposed to be word documents. They all still end with .doc, but their type is an alias. I have no clue how they were created as an alias, but they were. It's probably a longshot without knowing where the original is located, but do any of you guys know how to possibly retrieve this?
I just used Adobe Acrobat Pro, and added a 'digital signature', but really, I just want to drag and drop (or copy and paste) a scanned signature I have handy. I couldn't see how to do this in Acrobat. Is there a good little app that will make this easy for me?
View 13 Replies View RelatedThe attachment uploader no longer works, either with Mac Mail, or on Google Chrome or Safari. When trying to upload, the grey area with the folder names moves all the way to the right, obscuring the white area with any files I could upload. When I clear the cache completely in Chrome, I can upload a file if it is on the desktop, but if I move to any other folder the same problem happens again, and I again have to clear the browser to have a chance at uploading something. I can still drag and drop files into the attachment window, but it's rather annoying that I can no longer upload things in the normal fashion.

So I've got an HP Photosmart that can scan to OCR but I want to convert images to text locally, is there some way to get around printing the doc and then manually scanning it to access editable text?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't mind iWork, but one thing that bugs me is having to specify all the time that i'd like to save the document as the microsoft version (ppt, doc, excel etc) instead of the apple formats. It also isn't that fun to then have to navigate to where the original file is and overwrite it. Any way to just have the apps default save your documents (whether new or old) as microsoft versions?

Does anyone know of an easy way to migrate all my apps, email folders, settings, docs, etc...? I used to use retrospect express in the past when I have migrated from one comp to another because it was easy... backup complete volume to external drive... restore complete volume to new comp from external drive, but in this case I don't have that option because I bought the new comp on ebay and would like to keep the new operating system with all my stuff from my old comp. I can't seem to figure it out with backup.

I have 4 x 500MB drives in my Mac Pro and 4 x 500MB external firewire drives.
Currently I use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone each internal drive to it's respective backup. ie Drive 1 > Backup 1, Drive 2 > Backup 2 etc
Is it possible to use Timemachine in a similar way? so that each internal drive has it's own corresponding Timemachine backup?
With Leopard and Snow Leopard I could sync my Address Book with Google Contacts (in google apps). Now with Lion I can't find a way to sync those contacts. I have an iCloud acount for my personal contacst but our company uses Google Apps for sharing the contacts

Previously the solution was to install Safari plugins Inquisitor or Glims but Apple have removed the interfaces from Safari 4 that these plugins used - and there is still no built in Safari Preference to set the locale of the Google search. Effectively this renders the Safari Google Search field pretty well useless - at least for UK users. I've tried it out and it seems pretty good, but I'm interested in seeing its benchmarks in comparison to Chrome. I'm lovin' the GUI of Stainless!
One of the reasons I like Firefox is I can highlight words, right click, and "Search Google" which *opens in a new tab*. Safari can right click to search Google, but it opens the new page within the same window. Is there any software to have the Google search open in a new tab? Maybe this should be a feature request.

However, it checks for email really randomly.
Sometimes I'll click on the mail icon and it hasn't checked for mail in over 15min.
Is there anyway to force it to check for new email every minute?
I was wondering if anyone has run into the problem I'm having with Google Chrome. One day last week it just wouldn't load anymore. i can click it and it will appear in my taskbar like its running, but no go on the UI. I've "googled it".... the problem that is... wow googling a problem with google. What are we coming to? Anyway, I've seen some stuff about it not running on Windows XP, but nothing about MAC.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI installed Safari 5 a few days ago (the standalone update before 10.6.4 was released), and I noticed in Safari 5, the Google logo hasn't changed (it did last month). I don't get the new left sidebar either in the search results. I installed Safari 5 today on another Mac, and this is working. I already reinstalled Safari to no avail. So how can I get this to work? Below, on the left, is what I see in Firefox. On the right is what I see in Safari.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been using Google Chrome for ages and never really had a problem with it until lately, I prefer it to Safari or Firefox etc.
Lately I've found that it's crashing frequently, sometimes webpages just won't load (it will load the title bar and just leave an empty white space on the actual content), and more and more frequently I'm getting the flash plugin crash message come up on it.
I have the latest version of Chrome, and have re-downloaded it and installed it again, repaired permissions etc, but nothing seems to help.
Anyone else come across this or know of a possible resolution?
