I love Mail but have become bored of the icon. Is it possible to change the icon the the Postbox one? still with the notifications on the dock.

I bet it's dead simple. So I'm going to before I even read the replies. I have changed icons before by pressing Apple + i on an App and the same on another icon then copying the icon's preview onto the other App.
But never used .icns
Any idea how to do the above? I have it set up on my mac mini but cant remember how I did it to set it up on my new MBP? Its def not a mail rule.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am enjoying bookmarking my favorite web sites on my iPhone by storing a webloc on the home screen. I am trying to do that on my Mac, and that works well by dragging the web address from Safari on the desktop. However, what I get is a webloc with the correct URL (link works perfect), but always the same HTTP@ icon. Why Safari does not get the favicon automatically as the iPhone is doing? Recoverig the favicon from a web site is easy by just adding favicon.ico after the website address and the favicon is automatically downloaded. But how to replace the HTTP@ icon by the correct one?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Mail and have two imap google mail accounts linked to it. One account is running completely fine but the other account has a gear like icon and it just wont go away. Its not trying to send anything out at all. But that icon just wont stop. Its taking a small amount of internet speed with it too.

I used to use my HP external drive for time machine, but since i got a new bigger WD one to use with time machine i have wiped the HP using disk utility but it is still showing up on the desktop with a time machine icon. i think i can still use it like a normal hard drive but it is causing a bit of confusion and its really irritating!! is there any way that i can change it back? i've tried wiping it a few more times but it still won't work..
Every few minutes my 13" MBP completely stalls, video and music pauses, can't do anything with my MBP and the mouse icon turns into that waiting icon. I don't know what it's called but it's round with colours inside it.Anyways, it stops me from what I'm doing for about 20 seconds and happens every few minutes and it's beginning to annoy me now!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have this icon behind the Application icon on the dock and I cannot figure out what it is. It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.

We updated our computer to a new system over the weekend (emac to a new iMac). Since then the number of unread messages shows up on the mail icon only all messages have been read. How do I get rid of the number icon? We had this problem once before when we upgraded our system but I don't remember how we got rid of it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm afraid I'm having a Windows user moment. Sometimes I still fail to do things the easy, intuitive way, even after roughly 4 years in OS X. I have 5 hard drives in my Mac Pro, one of them is my boot Intel SSD. I want that icon to be distinct from the others (another is a Time Machine drive). I've downloaded two files that would work for me, one was a png and the other a .ico file, but when I copy the icon from the top left corner of the 'get info' pane on the desired file, and then paste it int he correlating top left corner of the SSD 'get info' pane, it pastes the generic PNG or ICO icon, not the actual icon image I desire.

Everything works great, but each time when I receive an e-mail and thus the dock email notification appears, the icon will switch back to the original Outlook icon. Only after I've checked my e-mail will the icon switch back to my custom icon again.
Is there a way to retain my custom icon even upon receiving the e-mail notification on the dock icon?
I will like to change the stamp icon for Mail on the dock of my Imac with the icon for mail from the iphone dock.
Is there a way to do this?
