Feb 9, 2009I am not able to download from my bank website or other websites that my children send me with videos on them of the family. I get the same error on both these applications that I can not change the content of the folder and therefore unable to open the file or download the file. What do I need to do to change this?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: "Mail Can't Open Because You Don't Have The Necessary Permissions To Change The Folder Where It Saves Information"
Apr 2, 2012I am no longer able to open Mail. I get the message: "Mail can't open because you don't have the necessary permissions to change the folder where it saves information"  It then goes on to tell me where mail stores information and to go to that folder and use the Get Info window to change the privileges to Read and Write (which they already were). I authenticate, change them to Read and then back to Read and Write, click the lock and try again. Same result. I tried to take a screen shot of that window and got this message: "Your screen shot can't be saved. You don't have permission to save files in the location wherescreen shots are stored." Last night I tried to take a screen shot and got the same message. I repaired permissions in Disk Utility and there were thousands of permissions repaired.

Feb 9, 2012I noticed my notebook running a little slower than usual so I took the usual steps, without much luck. I then verified and repaired disk permissions in Disk Utility. Tried to use disk repair but got a message that the disk was damaged and I needed to boot from an install disc and run Disk Utility from it. I put the disc in, chose it as my boot disc in Preferences, and ever since once I power up all I get is the chime and a blank grey dead screen. proceed or at the very least remove the disc from the SuperDrive

PowerPC :: G4 Memory Bank Not Working
May 17, 2008So my dad decided to upgrade the ram on his Powerbook G4 to 2GB. Initially everything went smoothly and the ram was detected and working. Within a week though, the computer only recognized 1 of the memory slots. Switching the ram cards around proved that the ram itself was fine but that the one memory bank was not working. Is this at all a common problem with the Powerbook G4? Our concern is that a repair may cost more than it is worth considering this is an old machine.

Yet again, a software update solves a bunch of problems and then creates a few more.

Jan 30, 2010When attempting to transfer money between accounts at my bank I click the Submit button and get the error: "The page must be fully loaded before this form is submitted." There is no error number or code given. The message is apparently generated by my bank's web server. The page is fully loaded. I don't get this error when I use IE on my XP PC unless the page is really not fully loaded.

Apr 5, 2012Since the Safari 5.1.5 update, one function of my bank's bill pay can not be accessed and defaults to a different page. I checked with the bank this morning and it seems the latest update of Safari blocks entry into the Medivante bill pay function which operates within the shell of the bank web page. The browser gives no indication that that page is actually from Medivante. Essentially, Safari sees this as a third party and blocks the browser from even getting information, not just cookies!
Bill pay can be accessed from the main page to set up a payment since that is a flow though using the bank information or setup, but is blocked if doing any editing which requires the site communicating directly with Medivante within the bank site. This can only be gotten around by changing to NEVER blocking cookies. Having the setting of blocking 3rd party and advertiser cookies no longer can be used with the bank site if I need to access the bill pay function. This doesn't even seem to be an issue of cookies, but is blocking access to bank/Medivante information.
Because the never setting is a risky one that only a fool would allow, I have to change the setting while I am in the bank site, change back cookie preferences when done with the bank, then close Safari before I do further browsing (seems the new settings don't always take effect until the browser restarts). This might be for our protection, but Apple has broken convenient use of the bank site that had worked prior to the update. I do not know who else might be affected. My bank is not one of the "big name" financial institutions but is certainly not a minor institution.

MYOB I have oaid for but cant figure how to download from my bank. I don't want to pay 200 dollars for quick books, I have 2 employees in my painting business which is a s-corp. So it's pretty simple and strait forward.

Safari :: Bank Links Stopped Working After 5.1.4 Update?
Mar 20, 2012I use Safari to download my banking information. After the last Safari upgrade (5.1.4) I can log on but cannot open links to the different accounts. I can "exit" but cannot navigate deeper into the site.
Using early 2008 MacBook Pro 15 with Lion. It won't work using my iMac but will work using Internet Explorer on a PC.

Intel Mac :: (Mid 2010) Memory Bank Was Already Damaged Before Bought It?
Jun 9, 2012I use my Mid 2010 iMac for virtualizing routers. I noticed that with the 4gb of RAM that was already installed in the iMac was not enough. So, I did some research and found out that, my iMac can hold up to 16gb of RAM. I did some more research and found out how to replace the memory in my iMac. Then, I went to Micro Center and bought 16gb of RAM and brought it back to my apartment. Now, I powered off my iMac and unplugged the power cord, flipped the iMac upside down and unscrewed the three screws that were holding the memory cover on. After removing the memory cover, and pulling back the memory tabs/flaps, I shined a light down in the memory slots and found one memory slot that looked damaged. I was not completely sure, so I went ahead and removed the old memory by pulling hard on the memory tabs/flaps, and the memory was unseated.
I remove the memory and replace it with four, 4gb sticks of memory. Once I powered on the iMac, a memory beep sounded off. So, I unplugged the power cord from the iMac and removed two of the four memory sticks out of the iMac. The two sticks of memory I removed was out of BANK 0/DIMM0 and BANK 1/DIMM0. BANK 0/DIMM0, is the one that is damaged and my hardware warranty has expired. I bought this iMac damage, and now it won’t support 16gb of memory. What should I do? By the way, the other 8gb of memory in the other two BANKs are working.

Oct 9, 2010So I have had my 27" i7 (July 2010) for about a month. On initial install the RAM showed 12gb (which is correct). I had the stock 4 GB and then added 2 4GB chips from OWC. They displayed correctly.
Now, suddenly am showing 6GB. Bank 0 DIMM 0 empty, Bank 1/DIMM 1 2gb, Bank 0 Dimm 1 Empty, Bank 1 Dimm 1 4gb.
Reseat all and try again? Seems an odd failure. Bank 0 give up the ghost? Just seems really odd both factory and add in ram suddenly failed...
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Opening Bank Data Files In A PDF Format Not Working?
Mar 13, 2012Opening bank data files, while logged into the bank or brokerage sites, by clicking on the PDF or file name icon, is supposed to open in PDF format but instead opens only a single page in Quicktime. This also happened several years ago in Leopard and required the removal of Quicktimeplugin.plugin. I have tried doing that in Lion with no success.
