OS X :: Safari 4 And Chase Bank Login
Mar 1, 2009I have a problem with logging into Chase Bank website using Safari 4. When I connect to [URl] everything loads fine. However, the problem comes as soon as I log in. After entering my username and password and pressing "Log On" button, Safari 4 redirects to (it appears on the address bar) [URL] and the browser window only shows a line of text saying 404: File Not Found. Could not find file.

Dec 15, 2008I am suddenly unable to log in to First Direct - I put in my user name and it simply refreshes the page asking me to input it again. It was fine earlier today before I updated. I phoned and they said there was no problem. I used my partner's Mac (with 10.5.5) and, sure enough, it's fine on there. Yet again, a software update solves a bunch of problems and then creates a few more.

Jan 30, 2010When attempting to transfer money between accounts at my bank I click the Submit button and get the error: "The page must be fully loaded before this form is submitted." There is no error number or code given. The message is apparently generated by my bank's web server. The page is fully loaded. I don't get this error when I use IE on my XP PC unless the page is really not fully loaded.

Apr 5, 2012Since the Safari 5.1.5 update, one function of my bank's bill pay can not be accessed and defaults to a different page. I checked with the bank this morning and it seems the latest update of Safari blocks entry into the Medivante bill pay function which operates within the shell of the bank web page. The browser gives no indication that that page is actually from Medivante. Essentially, Safari sees this as a third party and blocks the browser from even getting information, not just cookies!
Bill pay can be accessed from the main page to set up a payment since that is a flow though using the bank information or setup, but is blocked if doing any editing which requires the site communicating directly with Medivante within the bank site. This can only be gotten around by changing to NEVER blocking cookies. Having the setting of blocking 3rd party and advertiser cookies no longer can be used with the bank site if I need to access the bill pay function. This doesn't even seem to be an issue of cookies, but is blocking access to bank/Medivante information.
Because the never setting is a risky one that only a fool would allow, I have to change the setting while I am in the bank site, change back cookie preferences when done with the bank, then close Safari before I do further browsing (seems the new settings don't always take effect until the browser restarts). This might be for our protection, but Apple has broken convenient use of the bank site that had worked prior to the update. I do not know who else might be affected. My bank is not one of the "big name" financial institutions but is certainly not a minor institution.

Dec 26, 2009Anyone else here use Ally Bank in Safari? The purple bar winds up blocking account information and looks even more out of "alignment" on the account screens once logged in. When I adjust the size using the + and - adjustments, other page elements appear wrong. I have the most updated version of Safari (4.0.4) and OS X 10.6.2 on my iMac. (1680 X 1050) [URL].

Mar 20, 2012I use Safari to download my banking information. After the last Safari upgrade (5.1.4) I can log on but cannot open links to the different accounts. I can "exit" but cannot navigate deeper into the site.
Using early 2008 MacBook Pro 15 with Lion. It won't work using my iMac but will work using Internet Explorer on a PC.

OS X :: Unable To Auto-login To Guest Account / Safari Wants To Use Keychain Login
Jan 6, 2009I work for a company that has several Macs available for customers' use. These are basically demo-machines that they can play with, and at the end of each day, the machines are wiped and rebooted.
The way we do this is simple: the machines auto-login to the Guest account, which will wipe the account at the end of the day. Well, getting a few new Macs in this week, I simply copied over the entire Guest user account to the new machines to avoid reloading all the demo content, preferences, etc. And truthfully, the machines have been working great.
Except one thing. The computer keeps giving me that annoying message that says "Safari (or Finder, or System Preferences, or anything!) wants to use keychain 'login'". And asks for the login keychain password. Well here's the thing: the Guest accounts don't have passwords!
So I looked up a little bit on this topic, and did things like... Went to "Keychain List" in the Edit menu of Keychain Access, and deleted both the "login" and "system" keychains. No help. I went to Preferences in Keychain Access and said "Reset My Keychain". When doing this, however, it asks for the new password for the login keychain.
The problem with this is that I cannot leave the field blank! The Guest account doesn't have a password, so how am I supposed to not create a password?

Safari :: 5 Won't Login To Comcast
Mar 10, 2012After updating to safari 5 and several system updates (including 10.6.8) safari will not login to Comcast account, on my MacBook pro. The login just returns me to the login page with no message of a problem. Â
Firefox has no problem doing so and another (freshly made) user account on the same computer logs on fine. I've tried cleaning the cache, deleting the cookies, resetting safari settings to default, deleting the preferences, and deleting the user/library/safari folder. Also i did all these again and the deleted safari app and reinstalled it fresh. None of these have worked. The problem obviously lies in the user folder. Â
There was suggestion somewhere else about certificates. I deleted the ones that they suggested but that didn't help. I don't trust they were the right ones. If that might be the issue how do I identify which ones Comcast might be using.

May 29, 2012In both safari and chrome when I type in my username, to login to facebook or ancestry.com or other sites,the browser suddenly acts as though it's been redirected and then returns me to the login page, The username box delets what I pe after about 4-5keystrokes OR it takes me to another login page and inserts the username and password, but won't do anything beyond that. A different user account on the same computer does not have that problem with logins, and I can login no problem if I am on the computer under that other user account.
the troubleshooter on apple support says to reboot in safe mode and see if it happens, however in safe mode, I cannot connect to my wireless network and the browsers won't open.

Apr 29, 2012I have built a charity website for the Gurkhas [URL] there is a secure members area which requires the member to put in their email address and password. One particular elderly member with an 9 month old Apple Mac running latest version of Safari finds that when he puts his email and password in and hits 'Sign In' the input lines go blank.Â
The software is Serif Webplus X5 and is working with Windows and IE and most other Apple Mac/Safari users. I am not an expert in the Mac/Safari environment and have remotely logged on to this members machine and cannot see anything obvious.Â
I and Serif have both tested the particular webpage with Safari in a windows environment and several Serif Forum users who are Mac users have tried the page with no problems.Â

PowerPC :: G4 Memory Bank Not Working
May 17, 2008So my dad decided to upgrade the ram on his Powerbook G4 to 2GB. Initially everything went smoothly and the ram was detected and working. Within a week though, the computer only recognized 1 of the memory slots. Switching the ram cards around proved that the ram itself was fine but that the one memory bank was not working. Is this at all a common problem with the Powerbook G4? Our concern is that a repair may cost more than it is worth considering this is an old machine.

Sep 27, 2010I have just purchased my new iMac having made the leap from PC. Overall I love my new machine (and the iPhone and Apple TV that accompany it...) However, in a bid to recoup some of the large outlay, I was seeking to list lots of things on eBay this weekend. However, at what appeared to be almost every other key stroke/action I was returned to the home screen and asked for my login details again, and again, and again! Clicking the 'remember me' box made no difference whatsoever.

Windows SharePoint Services v3 should work according to that link with Safari+2.
This is the version we are using for our intranet, but my Safari just will not allow it. It is forever requesting me for Name and Password. However when I type the said details in, it just pops up and prompts me once again. So I'm guessing this is an authentication issue? It's becoming really annoying and I'd really like to get around it without having to run XP along side OSX just for Intranet page.

Jan 3, 2008Anyone having problems accessing gmail in Safari today? When I try to access the sign-in page, it tells me that "Safari can't open the page [URL] because your computer isn't connected to the Internet." I am clearly connected to the internet. Also, my Mail.app cannot connect to my gmail account and neither can my GPeek widget.
However, I have no problem accessing gmail via Firefox. I have noticed this problem a few times over the past 2-3 weeks, but though it was a google issue. Today was the first time I thought of trying to access gmail via Firefox, and it does, which points to Safari. Of course, now that I've finished typing this up, I can access gmail via Safari with no problems.
