I use Safari to download my banking information. After the last Safari upgrade (5.1.4) I can log on but cannot open links to the different accounts. I can "exit" but cannot navigate deeper into the site.
Using early 2008 MacBook Pro 15 with Lion. It won't work using my iMac but will work using Internet Explorer on a PC.

Since the Safari 5.1.5 update, one function of my bank's bill pay can not be accessed and defaults to a different page. I checked with the bank this morning and it seems the latest update of Safari blocks entry into the Medivante bill pay function which operates within the shell of the bank web page. The browser gives no indication that that page is actually from Medivante. Essentially, Safari sees this as a third party and blocks the browser from even getting information, not just cookies!
Bill pay can be accessed from the main page to set up a payment since that is a flow though using the bank information or setup, but is blocked if doing any editing which requires the site communicating directly with Medivante within the bank site. This can only be gotten around by changing to NEVER blocking cookies. Having the setting of blocking 3rd party and advertiser cookies no longer can be used with the bank site if I need to access the bill pay function. This doesn't even seem to be an issue of cookies, but is blocking access to bank/Medivante information.
Because the never setting is a risky one that only a fool would allow, I have to change the setting while I am in the bank site, change back cookie preferences when done with the bank, then close Safari before I do further browsing (seems the new settings don't always take effect until the browser restarts). This might be for our protection, but Apple has broken convenient use of the bank site that had worked prior to the update. I do not know who else might be affected. My bank is not one of the "big name" financial institutions but is certainly not a minor institution.

Periodically, all links on a page (any page including Apple) will stop working. Quitting Safari and the restarting works to clear the problem until the next time. The links fail to work with either the mouse or the trackpad.

Some semi-Flash-based links do not work in Safari(I'm using 5.0.3) causing me to switch to...pretty much any other browser like Chrome when needed. For example, when playing Whirled by Three Rings, when trying to navigate the non-Flash menus, equipping/"Wearing" avatars or pets and furniture and stuff do not work.

None of the links IN THAT BOX work for me. By "work" of course I mean go anywhere or do anything. It's as if I'm clicking in an area of a page without links.

I've checked Firefox and am running the latest version of javascript. I'm also running the latest version of Firefox 3.6.8. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.4.11 - old system software, I realize, but I simply haven't been able to afford moving beyond this (plus my Mac is a Macbook, 2GB RAM, 80GB HD - old unit).
LInks within webpages don't work. Currently I am running OSX 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7. Have cleared the cache in the attempt to click on Download. The one site that has been a issue is MS Skydrive.live.com. On the right side they have a Download link...it does not work correctly (no download).Looking for idea why it does not work.

I just got my macbook about 2 days ago I turned it off once and updated the software on it and when I turned it back on the trackpad stopped working. The pointer works when I use a USB mouse.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSound is working fine on my MBA - but when i plug anything into the headphone jack i hear a millisecond of sound then nothing, as soon as i take it out again, it is still playing fine through built in speakers. I think it started happening after i downloaded and installed the latest update but i'm not 100% sure. Tested headphones, stereo etc. and nothing, working. (stereo & headphones work fine through iphone etc. so it's not the cable or the jack) It also does seem like it takes longer for the MBA to recognise something is plugged in? could be a software bug on the new update?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSafari on my iMac (10.7.4) has been acting up recently. Very slow to begin loading my opening Tabs and CPU intensive. Today it has just stopped working at all. It just sits there with high CPU use and nothing loads into my opening tabs. I've tried Google Chrome and it works fine with the same tabs. Tried downloading the latest Safari and installed it, but it didn't help. Don't know what to do next. I've seen all the warnings about not deleting Safari. Is there any alternative to reloading Lion? Can't I just delete Safari from Terminal and then reinstall from my Safari download and import my exported Bookmarks?Â

I installed 10.5.7 yesterday. Immediately after the installation was complete, my Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working. Went into Bluetooth system settings, and it said that there was no bluetooth hardware found... (it's built into the machine!!)...
Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom one day to the next, the Safari pdf visualizer stopped working. Now when I open a pdf link, I only see the 'grey' safari windows, plus a strange gibberish when i scroll the Safari window. The pdf is there, because I can save it or open it with Preview. I do use occasionally Adobe Acrobat pro (9), which I know to be a potential source of the problem. However, the adobe pdf plugin (which is mentioned in previous threads) was never installed.Â
What I have already done, and did not work:Â
1. erase all internet plugins (in ~/Library, as well as in /Library/. As I mentioned, the Adobe plugin was not ther)
2. deinstall Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, just in case
3. reinstall Safari from scratch
4. remove the ~/Library/Safari folder so that it would be recreated
5. remove all Safari extensionsÂ

It was fine earlier today before I updated. I phoned and they said there was no problem. I used my partner's Mac (with 10.5.5) and, sure enough, it's fine on there. Everything was working fine, until I applied an update that made the trackpad stop working (it only accepts clicks, no touch is recognized).Â
This is the "Trackpad Firmware Update" from the automatic updates.Â
When starting this firmware update it appears a window with a status message, cancel and Update buttons. After clicking the update button, it starts installing, appears to complete, status changes to "Finishing...", and Update button comes back active at some point. Â
After that I have tried (unsuccessfully):downloading and installing the update directly from Apple Support [URL] thing, but using the 'root' accountleaving the computer on overnight to see if actually "finished" the processReset PRAM PVRAM - [URL] - [URL] palm pressing over 30 seconds on the trackpad (read this on another thread...?)Â Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my dad decided to upgrade the ram on his Powerbook G4 to 2GB. Initially everything went smoothly and the ram was detected and working. Within a week though, the computer only recognized 1 of the memory slots. Switching the ram cards around proved that the ram itself was fine but that the one memory bank was not working. Is this at all a common problem with the Powerbook G4? Our concern is that a repair may cost more than it is worth considering this is an old machine.

Opening bank data files, while logged into the bank or brokerage sites, by clicking on the PDF or file name icon, is supposed to open in PDF format but instead opens only a single page in Quicktime. This also happened several years ago in Leopard and required the removal of Quicktimeplugin.plugin. I have tried doing that in Lion with no success.

I have a problem with logging into Chase Bank website using Safari 4. When I connect to [URl] everything loads fine. However, the problem comes as soon as I log in. After entering my username and password and pressing "Log On" button, Safari 4 redirects to (it appears on the address bar) [URL] and the browser window only shows a line of text saying 404: File Not Found. Could not find file.

There is no error number or code given. The message is apparently generated by my bank's web server. The page is fully loaded. I don't get this error when I use IE on my XP PC unless the page is really not fully loaded.
