Software :: Safari Keeps Quiting / Bad Access Kern Protection Failure?
Sep 6, 2009I keep getting these error messages when Safari keeps quitting. I have Safari 3.2.1 and OS X 10.5.6. I have performed resets, I empty my cache and clear my history often. It seems to be getting worse. The programs get the beach ball and then everything just quits running. 99% of the time I am getting the bad access, kern protection failure message. Is there something I cna do to fix it or prevent it?

Dec 9, 2009I have a macbook pro, intel 2.4ghz core 2 duo, running snow leopard.My default speed for smcfancontrol is set to 4000rpm for both fans. I turn it on when i feel things are gettin a bit hot and I dont have my laptop cooler fan underneath.
I noticed something, when I quit smcfancontrol, shouldnt the fans revert back to default speed? I checked with iStatpro and saw that, even after quitting smc, the speeds of the fans are still at 4000rpm.After doing an SMC Reset, the default fan speed as stated by iStatpro is 2000rpm. As soon as I fire up smcfancontrol and quit it right after, the fans stay at 4000rpm. Even after i power cycle (reboot & power off/on) the mbp, the fans are still stuck at 4000rpm.
I feel this will wear out my fans a lot faster, I hardly ever need the fans at faster than 2000rpm because I use a laptop cooler 90% of the time.Is this a normal issue? Or a bug? Anyone else have this problem?

Jun 15, 2010Many extensions on extensions.apple.com cannot be installed.However, extensions that I installed before, no problem, such as AdBlock, Bing, Echofon. Others, will not install, it will be stuck at installing. And Safari may lose response after a while. I initially noticed that if I try to install YouTube5 which I downloaded myself, Safari will immediately lose response.
Tried solutions:
- Reset Safari
- Run OnyX
- Repair disk permissions
- Deleting all the extensions; extensions I installed before will install, others won't
- Deleting Clicktoflash and Glims

Jul 25, 2008I was wondering if it was possible to tell Safari to look in multiple or different keychains for login credentials. I have x509 certificates that I want to put in a different keychain from the default "login" one, but when I surf to a webpage that requires that certificate, Safari doesn't seem to want to use it.

Jul 2, 2010I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!

Jun 3, 2014Running OS X (10.9.3) and Safari 7.0.4. Can't print pdf files from Safari and sometimes can't download them either (error says they are corrupted) but I can download from a windows laptop. I found something online about disabling a pdf plug-in, but it was for Lion, so not sure if it's still the correct fix. Also, how to uninstall a plug-in unless you provide exact locations of where the plug-ins are stored.

Mar 12, 2012Today a new auto-update came up and I ran it - it included a tweak to 10.7.3 as well as Safari and a few others. My Safari (5.2) got completely trashed. Will not even open any more - all it does is crash immediately upon launch. I have a Time Machine backup from about 40 minutes earlier I can recover from if needed. Meanwhile I'm lucky I have a MacBook Pro as well, and am able to get online while I am completely restoring Lion from a patchstick.
I'll post the crash report (I copied and saved it) once I get back up.Incidentally, I've been getting a lot of crashes in Mail as well. Always when the computer is asleep. Anyone else having these problems - or have a solution?
