All of a sudden Safari won't start on my iMac G5, 10.5.4. Everything is updated.I did permissions repair. I tried removing Internet Plug Ins. No Safari.Do I have to reinstall Safari from the 10.5 disk? Will I lose all of my book marks? I've got a bunch synced to .Mac/Mobile Me, but my idisk isn't loading.

I'm in desperate need of help. Not too long ago I installed the latest apple security update, and I've notice some strange behavior from my imac ( 17" g5 with isight intel core2 duo) shortly afterward.
I can't get my imac to start up, and I don't know what to do. I NEED to access the files on my HD.
do I need to reinstall leopard? if so, how?
i have snow leopard and had some issues with safari. I uninstalled it and now i can't find where to download it from. The link on the apple website is for either tiger of leopard. I downloaded the leopard one, but it will not install on my computer because it is 10.6.1 instead of 10.5.8 or later. I have looked around, but can't find where to download it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSafari 5.1.3 is a disaster. Ever since I upgraded a week ago I have had nothing but heartache, with multiple issues cropping up, all of them seemingling unfixable. As it turns out I have a backup of my system that has my previous, non-heartache version of Safari 5.1.2. My question is simple: Now that I've "upgraded" to Lion 10.7.3 and Safari 5.1.3, can I simply overwrite Safari 5.1.3 with the previous 5.1.2 version and get on with my life? Or will various changes throughout the system cause me more misery? Otherwise, I may just roll my whole system back to last week's backup and get on with my life.

My safari (4.0.3) has started giving me the spinning beach ball way too often. I've repaired permissions but it's still doing it. So I thought it's time to reinstall it, must be corrupted or something. I'm running OS X 10.4.11 on a power book G4. The only instructions I have is the user guide that came with my mac and it's a bit too vague. can anyone give me a basic run through on how to reinstall just safari?

Safari can not access the site but mozilla is able to with no problems. My good friend has an imac and his safari will access the site with no issues. I have un-installed safari and re-installed it with updates. I have no clue what is going on. I can continue to use Mozilla but I paid to use my MBP with Safari.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSafari 4 seems to somehow have been deleted from my mac. The dock icon had a question mark in it so I removed it from the dock (nothing happened when i clicked on it anyway). When I looked in my applications folder it appears to have gone from there. No problem I thought, i'll just reinstall it. Luckily I have Firefox on the computer so I went to apple.com/downloads and tried to download Safari 4. Nothing happens. A screen comes up saying thank you for downloading Sarafi but nothing has downloaded. Still not a problem i thought because i'm sure I have a copy of Safari 4 in my downloads folder from a few months ago. Found it, clicked on it and went through the install process. When it get to the "select a destination" stage it won't let me install because "this update requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 which means it should work being a newer version. I can continue using Firefox but it seems a bit weird that I can't reinstall Safari. I have also noticed that for some reason i can't download anything else from the apple downloads page.

Okay. So, Safari was giving me some trouble, right? So, I thought I would delete it and reinstall it. I never had a problem doing so before, right? So, why not? I did, and then, when I tried to reinstall it, it tells me I have a newer version already installed.

I accidentally removed Safari and am now trying to reinstall it from the disk. However, I can't check the box for Safari on the Optional Installs disk. I'm running 10.5.8 on an imac. I have now backed up everything (not Safari b/c I had already deleted it) to time machine and looking at doing a custom reinstall from the "install Mac OS X.app" disk.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was having some issues with safari opening and Mac Support had me reinstall my disks. I just bought my MacBook like 3 months ago so I'm still getting used to everything and since installing I have 2 issues:
1. I found my user name, which we saved, on the "previous system" folder, but how do I get the info to apply. I tried dragging the whole folder to my desktop, but do I actually have to open each file and save them?
2. What happened to iphoto. I tried to open some of my pictures from my iphoto library and it said that I did not have iphoto on my computer
I accidently deleted Safari and now I can't reinstall because it keeps telling me there is a newer version on my computer. The issue is my system does not support the newer version.

I loved the speed improvements Snow Leopard gave to my computer, but I knew that I would have to do a clean install sooner or later. Now, Safari and Firefox are crashing frequently (multiple times a day!) and everything is slowing down again. I'm hoping a reinstall of the operating system will fix that. However, I used up all 5 installs on my Family Pack. Can I reinstall Snow Leopard with that disc, even though all 5 installs have been used? Do I need to buy another copy? Can the Genius Bar do the clean reinstall for me while my computer is there for other repairs?

I'm not sure what exactly he did but he was trying to set up some kind Linux loader or something to try and get a driver for this printer I have, I'm not sure what happened exactly. the next day I turned it on and neither safari or itunes would open. I've tried reinstalling itunes and nothing. I also deleted the crap he put on.

I installed iTunes 9 yesterday and since then the applications just randomly (Preview, Word, Pages, Textedit, Opera...) won't start anymore when I wan't to open some file (like Word file). I can only use Safari and iTunes. The only way I can make them work again is rebooting macbook. I can play with apps after that for 3 hours or so and then they won't open again. The icons just jump in the dock.
I have also another problem: when I adjust sound or brightness then the bars in the icon move very slowly, not smoothly. This also occurs when I hold a backspace button down to delete text. I noticed this 2 weeks ago.
Now all youtube videos never start.

Stuck on screen with apple logo. No curser, nothing.
Last try got stuck on a blue screen that alternated tones of blue every few seconds. Was able to start up in safe mode ( held shift). Finder loaded after a loooong wait. Once there I used Disc Diet to empty caches- this usually help to get rid of the rolling beach ball. Wasn't able to do much at all- all with rolling beach ball. Restarted without shift key- stuck on apple.
Should I uninstall Safari?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have set safari 5.0 to open when i turn my mac on which it does (kind of). The bar at the top says Safari but to get the main window open i have to go to File>New Window.
How do i get it just to open straight away.
I'm finding it slightly annoying that in Safari 5.0, whenever I hit CMD+T to open a new tab, my cursor automatically starts in the google search box on the web page, and not in the address bar. Not only that, but I can't simply hit SHIFT-TAB to go backwards to the address bar.
I'm a designer, so I'm constantly using shortcuts, not only in my design programs, but also in Safari, iTunes, etc. It would be nice to see a fix for this, so I can keep my hands on the keyboard, and off of my mouse.
I don't like that Safari starts the last page that I was on everytime I run the application. How can I change this so that my default homepage is opened everytime instead?

For reasons I cannot understand, Safari 5.1.5 on Lion has begun to fail at start-up. On every occasion I try to start I get a page that says "Safari Quit Unexpectedly." The Problem Report suggests Restarting, but the same thing occurs. Should I uninstall Safari and reinstall from an Apple download?

When I start up Safari it opens 2-3 pages of previously viewed sites. I just started using Lion 10.7.3 on a new 17" iMac. This never happened before on Snow Leopard.

When I go to start safari it won't load. The address bar lights up about a 13rd of the way and then just sits there.If I restart my computer it will work for a time but eventually refers back to the same behavior.I have tried reseting safari, I have tried to empty cache without success.
