ITunes :: View Sub-folders Without Clicking On The  Triangle Of Each Main Folder?

Apr 19, 2012

In VIEWING (to print) my iTunes music (in finder), how can i view subfolders without clicking on the  triangle of each main folder?I am trying to print a list of all my music. For example, main folder is BEATLES.  Subfolders are Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road, etc...and I want to view and print all the subfolders. This is a recovery project after my hard drive failed. I know this is truly a "finder" question and will double post there.

Intel Mac :: How To View All Files On External HD Except ITunes Folder

Jun 28, 2012

I recently had an external 500 gig Western Digital that stopped working. I took to store and had them transfer the data onto a new external portable hard drive (1.5 gig). At store they hooked up to Mac Book and showed me the files in the itunes folder, however when I connect the drive at home to my imac running tiger 10.4.6 none of the files are visible in the itunes folder.

All the other backup files are fine. And when I right click on iTunes folder >Get Info. It says zero kb in the folder. However I know the files are there because itunes is working and playing them fine. And when I search for a band and open the folder of say "pearl jam" folder it then magically shows just those sub folder for that group in the itunes folder. It seems that the files are definitely there I just can't view them.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: GUI Navigation, Missing Folder Hierarchy Triangle In 10.7.4 Server?

May 23, 2012

not quite so dire if you clicked this wondering ??? And why is this bing posted on Server forum? Well it happens to be on a server and I am trying to iron out what happens when you completely trash the system and start over.  This problem occured in a subdirectory on one folder. It (the triangles ->) are there for all the other folders.  However, there is one folder I had on a backup (backup, meaning still being a previous version of Lion) that at one point that any group of folders I place into it. there is no browsing triangle that lets you go down furthur.  Yes you can open the folder and go further in, so its not prefs that I am aware of.

At this level...Triangles Here Still? Triangles still here. (Must say in Cookie Monster voice if you've watched the "Cookies done yet" bit you might giggle or at least be mildly annoyed.)

If you browse from this part of the hierarchy you get the expected behavior...Triangles Here Still? Triangles still here. however if you open the folder here is what you get...Triangles Here Still? (uh oh).

[Code]...

Anyway, sorry for the "less professional" candor of this post, but I have kids and a wife, and they think I am boring at times, and I love them - and while I am struggling with this, I am thinking of them, and obviously not with them. Ok Universe, this is where I need you the most: I'm counting on you do to something or say something to make it all better. Ok...Go

Applications :: View Messages In Threads / Just By Clicking On The Inbox

Jul 31, 2005

I've used Google's instructions to set up my Gmail accounts on Mac Mail using IMAP. The only issue I'm finding is when I have messages in my inbox, all I see are the emails that were sent to me. To see the messages I've send, I can only do this by clicking on sent mail.

Is there anyway to see my messages in their threads just by clicking on the inbox, just how it works when using Gmail via their web site? I can get the view I want when I click "All Mail" but then I have hundreds of emails rather than what's in my inbox. I've searched everywhere but have yet to find a solution.

OS X :: Lost Main Harddrive Folder - Not In Trash?

Sep 10, 2009

In Tiger, I always had the main harddrive in the upper right hand corner of the desktop, easy to click on to open up a finder window. I wanted to make this happen again in SL, but couldn't figure it out. I tried dragging the main harddrive from under "devices" in Finder to the "Desktop" folder, and it poofed away....I go to undo, and there is no undo option for that. And it is not in my trash folder. What the heck did I do? Why did the drive disappear in a poof just because I dragged it over? How can I fix it? I don't even know what to search for but "my folder went away in a poof" turns up nothing

Intel Mac :: Desktop Disappears When Clicking On Folders?

May 27, 2012

I have a 20" white 2.16 GHz Intel iMac running OS 10.6.8 with 4GB of memory. Over the past year it has developed an odd fault. Whenever I try to open a folder (or select 'new folder' or 'new finder window' from the drop-down menu), it hangs for a couple of seconds and then all the icons/folders on the desktop disappear, leaving only the dock visible. After  about three seconds, the icons/folders all reappear. Oddly, if I persist in trying to open a folder, it eventually succeeds, typically after approximately 20 attempts, although sometimes the first couple of times a window actually does open, it disappears again as soon as I use the scroll bar. Eventually, it always seems to work, but takes around two minutes of frustrating effort to open any folder instead of the normal split second.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I've tried reinstalling the operating system and initialising the hard drive, but the problem still always returns..it's really annoying!

OS X :: To Make Folders Go To The Top In List View?

I've read many times people want to make folders appear at the top of a list in Finder like they are represented in Windows explorer. I found an article on Macworld that tells you how to do this.

I remember doing this over a year ago on my G4 Powerbook and it working. But on my Intel MacBook Pro, I can't locate the file they are referring to in the article. where this file was moved to or how to access this thing on the Intel machines?

OS X :: How To Sort Folders At Top Of File View In Finder

Jul 30, 2009

I'm a recent switcher, and of course would never voluntarily go back to a PC. Love everything about the Mac for the most part.

One thing that has bugged me: In Windows File Explorer, when browsing files, all the folders are at the top (in alpha order), then the files are sorted below that in alpha order.

In Finder, the folders are mixed in so everything is alpha all together.

I would prefer seeing all my folders at the top.

Is there a setting that controls this?

OS X Mavericks :: How To View Hidden Folders In Finder

Jun 29, 2014

Sometimes, it's not just folders, it's files too. Sometimes in non-mac sources, like my SMART TV, I see files named .filename.mp4 along with filename.mp4. And these fraudulent files are really bothering. And the worst part, I can't see them in Finder. remove the .file.mp4.

I used the term 'filename.mp4' to represent an MP4 video file. But the files that have a . before them need to be deleted.

The problem I can't figure out is when I use Mac apps (such as TextEdit) to open a file in one of the hidden folders (such as /private/etc/apache,) I dont see them in the dialog even though I am logged in as root and have enabled the Finder to show all files.

Is there a way to view all the folders from these dialog boxes? I dont want to use vim or pico for editing.

OS X :: View Settings For Each Folder?

Dec 11, 2008

I've seen this in the Apple store... different folders can remember different view settings.

On my MBP (10.5.5) different folders can remember their own settings like icon size and spacing, as well as file arrangement and sorting. But the view settings (icon, list, columns, cover flow) do not differ per folder... if you switch in one folder, every folder will have that view setting.

OS X :: How To View Pic And Delete Unwanted Pic In Folder

Sep 24, 2010

When we download new pictures in Windows and saved in a folder, we simply view it using Window Picture Viewer, scroll along and delete pictures we don't want. Easy and straight forward.

I did the same saving all new pictures in a folder. Then problem arrises:

1) When click the 1st picture to commence viewing, its not able to scroll to the next one. unlike Picture Viewer. So does it mean I have to open up individual pic, close, move cursor to next pic, open, delete unwanted pic, close, move cursor to next ....repeat....repeat.....one by one at a time. That is mind bogging absurd.

2) Then I use space bar and able to scroll forward. When reach the last pic of the row. it stop, Then I have to move cursor down and now scroll backwards. Seems very strange. Its kind of zig-zag manner. And after deleting pic, I have to start all over again instead of continuing from last pic. Again this is crazy.

I haven't really explore iphoto yet but don't tell me to use iphoto to do the job. That means I have to import photos from folder to iphoto and that is double job. Not forgetting there is no "cut and paste" function at right click mouse and that also means duplication.

Surely Mac is meant for graphics and there must be a much easier way than Window Picture Viewer, right?

OS X :: Cut/paste Files And Folder View?

Mar 16, 2010

I think os x is superior to Windows in almost every way but I do wish I could perform two simple actions the way Windows works.

The first is the ability to 'cut' and then paste files. If I want to move files to a different folder, I've got to open up another finder window and drag and drop.

And secondly (and most annoying) is switching folder views (icons, list etc). On Windows when you change the view of a folder, it automatically becomes the default view for that folder. In os x changing the view changes the global view across all folders, unless you apple-j and tick the 'always open in...' which would be a real hassle to do for every folder!

Is there any way to achieve these actions in os x?
