The problem is when I click on any of those folders it open the contains in a new window, rather than letting me just click through. it's frustrating as I can end up with half a dozen windows open to get to one file. This only happens on external drives. Is there a way to fix this?

ITunes :: Combine Multiple Podcast Folders Into One?

Apr 16, 2012

When I open itunes Podcast section I find that it shows multiple folders or podcasts with the same name. I want these to show up as just one podcast. How can I do this?For example:When I look at my HD>itunes>Podcast folder; I see one folder called "Ask Dave", but in my itunes podcast column it show three separate "Ask Dave" podcasts. I want it to show only one.

Similar but different example:A podcast that I have subscribed to for several years has changed its name slightly; Podcast_Photoshop User TV, Photoshop User TV, Photoshop TV, NAPP TV.

I have 4 folders as I listed in my itunes>Podcast folder. But in the itunes window it lists  9 folders: 1 - Podcast_Photoshop User TV, 5 - Photoshop User TV, 2 - Photoshop TV, 1 - NAPP TV. These are all the same podcast, and I'd to have just one folder / entry in my itunes window called Photoshop TV and have everything show up in one place.I'm running Leopard and iTunes10?

Applications :: IPhoto And IPad - Can Sync IPad And IPhone Without Having To Create A New Library

Apr 27, 2010

Also, is it possible to share an iTunes library between my MBA and my PC so I can sync my iPad and iPhone without having to create a new library? The library file is currently on the NAS and just wanted to use the same one. Would it allow me to sync my iPhone with the PC and the iPad with the MBA using the same library on the NAS? I know this is more of an iTunes question, but figured I would post it here instead of starting another thread.

OS X :: Cannot Create Files/folders?

Dec 3, 2009

My Macbook has been much slower than usual lately, and today it just stopped creating files. When I try and open Skype, it tells me it cannot create the users file, when i try to open itunes, it tells me it cannot create the itunes folder.

I have repaired the disk permissions and verified the disk. Verification came back okay. I'm now at a loss as for what to do. I can't download any new files (it tells me that I'm out of disk space, while I have 50 gb's free), so downloading anything to fix the problem won't work.

OS X :: Using Terminal To Create Md5 Of Folders & Subfolders?

Jun 23, 2010

I can't find a third party app to create a MD5 checksum of folders and subfolders. The closest I got was checksum+, but the programs doesn't handle large folders; it freezes.

So I would like to go into Terminal and do it manually. Can someone share the command line to create:

a MD5 checksum of a folder and its subfolders and output it to a txt file.

a way then to use that outputted text file for file verification. My initial thinking is that I would have to create another MD5 checksum of the copied folder and then use a difference type command to compare the text files?

OS X Technologies :: Create Folders And Sort Applescript?

Mar 15, 2012

I am using a script that Jacques Rioux kindly helped me out with a couple days ago. I altered his script a little to complete a different task I needed to create a shortcut for. The script below first creates two folders (TIFF & JPEG) and then it sorts files with an extension .tif into the 'TIFF' folder and files with the extension .jpg into the folder named 'JPEG'. This works great but I would like the script to effect multiple folders. Can anyone help me add to the script so when you click it, a prompt will pop up allowing you to choose multiple folders to apply the script too? As of now it will only work on one folder at a time.

OS X :: Extract Files From Multiple Folders?

Jun 19, 2010

I would like to transfer my iTunes library to my phone to use as a secondary/backup iPod. The problem is that I have a lot of music, and iTunes organizes the music by putting music in separate folders via artist, and then more separate folders by album. This means there is no easy way to transfer all of my music over. I'd have to manually click on every folder, and copy songs one by one, which would take a super long time.

Is there a way to like select my iTunes Music folder and be able to get all of my music?

OS X :: Unable To Access Folders / Folders Are Locked After Transferring Files From External Hd

When I went to access my folders on my external HD, the folders are all locked, with Sharing and Permission section in the Information "Everyone: Read" only! I can't change any of the information or move things! All of them are locked and "read only." I know how to change it, but only manually, individually. I have several hundreds of folders and I don't want to manually change all of them to "Read & Write." Is their a way to let me re-set the folders to "Read & Write" easily??

Software :: Adding Bookmarks And New Folders Under Multi-level Safari Folders?

Jan 20, 2004

I have a question for the the Safari geeks out here (1.1.1 version 100.1, running on MacOSX 10.3.2): I have imported my bookmarks from a Mozilla install on a Linux box, based on a hint I found here with the debug options (worked great!!!), and I have the following questions related to adding a new bookmark (based on the fact that my bookmarks are organized in multi-level folders, e.g. OperatingSystems->Linux->Security->Firewall, etc.):

- when opening Bookmarks->Add bookmark ..., how could I possibly collapse all the levels, so that I can easily scroll, and open/drill down into the appropriate level of bookmarks, without having to scroll thrrough all (by default) expanded levels? ... especially critical as some sub-categories may match names, with different higher level bookmarks, thus having to make sure I am where I want to be (e.g. I have a Security folder under OS->Mac, as I have one under OS->Linux, and I have to remember which one I am under, if the "parent" is out of the scrolling window);

- is there any easy way to add a new "level/folder", through Bookmarks->Add bookmark, at the time of salvaging a new one, vs. having to open the Bookmarks in a new window, adding the folder, then returning to add the new bookmark?

I hope the above makes sense ... I am probably hopeful - also - that people may have already run into this before
