iTunes has a mind of its own after the recent update. Opens on its own, starts playing, gets stuck, gets unstuck. I close it, it opens again.

last updates of iTunes there seems to be a problem with playing music: iTunes just randomly pauses and continues playing after a while.I believe this all started after updating to 7.4.1 it was really bad then, iTunes would pause like 20 times during a song and it would take very long for a new song to start.
View 6 Replies View Relatedalmost everytime I use airtunes, somewhere in the middle of a song, the music will quit unexpectedly. sometimes the music will resume in a three-count, sometimes longer, sometimes not at all. When i look at itunes, it looks like the song is just paused - meaning the little diamond that shows where you are in the song in the display along the top isn't inching along anymore, however the actual PAUSE button on the upper left has not been selected (meaning there is not a PLAY arrow displayed. the double bar PAUSE button is still showing). I have tried:
stopping the song (clicking the PAUSE button) and then starting it again
quitting itunes and restarting
restarting my ibook (G4)
unplugging my airport express and plugging it back in to reboot
using the airport admin aplication
completely unplugging EVERYTHING (modem, airport base station, airport extreme) and then slowly rebooting them all in order
upgrading itunes to the current version
at first, I thought it was a problem with airtunes, like the signal got lost or something, but after looking at itunes and realizing the song isn't *going* anymore, i thought the problem was with the application. but I don't know. I've never experienced this if i use the computer speakers, but then again, I hardly ever use them so I really don't know that for sure. oh, and I bought my airport base station *after* the airport express, and I'm pretty sure this problem was happening when my "network" was just my ibook and the express. (my experience level: I'm a former PC'er. I'm fairly knowlegable, but more on the software end. I know *nothing* when it comes to mac hardware.
I use my Mini as a music server with all music stored on an external RAID. If I import a CD while iTunes is playing music, it will finish the song and then pause the playback. Is there a workaround so it can both import and play at the same time?

Before moving to a new Mac I backed up my old itunes music library.xml file and manually added all of my music files to itunes on my new mac.Â
Does anybody know a way of getting my old information such as ratings, number of plays etc from the old library into the new one?

My finder & Dashboard quits and re-starts every time iTunes plays a new song. The screen goes completely gray & blank under whatever I may have open. It lasts only momentarily, but is quite annoying. As part of the troubleshooting, I ran Disk Utility. Checked permissions which were OK. Checked verify disk & got result that the disk is corrupt & should be repaired. When I tried to start my computer from the Recovery disk (using the Option key), it would not start (going instead to a gray patterened screen). I tried this several times & one time it did go to the screen showing the Recovery disk and my startup disk. But when I selected the Recovery disk, it went to the gray patterned screen again. I then connected my Mac Pro to my MacBook Pro & booted the Mac Pro to Target Disk mode. When I ran Disk Utility Repair Disk on the Mac Pro's startup disk, the result showed no problem with the disk. I'm not sure where to go from here, so I can use some help.

All the songs that are synced onto my iPhone are check marked in iTunes. When playing songs in iTunes, it only plays the checked songs. Is there a ways to make it also shuffle in uncheck songs when playing through iTunes?
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis just started in the last week or two, but my itunes will be completely closed, and suddenly it opens and play a certain mp3 file, then the next then one more. This isn't any particular playlist or anything. The files are probably all in my download folder and it just goes in order. This happens many times per day. Often times my computer was actually asleep and it wakes it to play these files.
Looking at my console log, I get the following two things right when it happens.

So I'm assuming whatever is happening has to do with these log items. How to stop this? It's very bothersome when I'm in the middle of a business call, etc. I need to keep my MBP volume up as well because I have various alerts I need to hear.

This has happened for a few months now, ever since I upgraded to iTunes 8 I believe, and now that I'm using iTunes more often it's starting to get annoying. I will play an album in iTunes. Once the album finishes, instead of stopping playback, iTunes will play an apparently random song from my library (though each album seems to be linked to a different song, which changes every now and then. I've been unable to find any pattern). Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have any ideas? I don't think this is just a problem for me - it happens to some friends who have iTunes as well. I've searched on Google and on this forum and couldn't find any solutions.

My 26,000+ song iTunes Library lives on an external LaCie drive. All the songs play fine in iTunes (and I can hear the drive spin up when I go to play them). However, for a few thousand of the songs, the song's file is not in the physical location where iTunes shows it to be.An example is below these are two song file locations from the 'Master Tune Library.xml' exported from iTunes.Both of these files show in iTunes, and they both play just fine from iTunes (no exclamation mark next to the song names). Yet only the first file (one ending in 1219.mp3)is at that location.The one ending in 1249.mp3 does not show in that location, either via Finder, or via Terminal.
From Terminal I get no results from "find /Volumes/LaCie500 -name espace_20101103_1249.mp3"Â (without the dbl quotes) But if I run the same command for the 1219 file, it does find it in the expected location.Really stumped as from where iTunes is playing 1249.mp3. [code] iTunes Media folder location is /Volumes/LaCie500/myTunes Both options underneath for "organize" and "copy files when adding to Library" are checked.

I listen to something on my ipod. I plug the ipod into my computer. In itunes, on the ipod, I can see the track I listed to has number of plays 1. That track in the library on the computer fails to get any plays next to it. Why? Why does this stuff never really work properly? I'm sure it used to work, but I could be wrong. It's not working now. Plays on/from the ipod don't get registered on the computer. This means I don't know which tracks I've listed to and which I haven't.
i noticed that i was actually listening to the same songs every time i started the shuffle mode from a song.

I haven't changed anything recently to my computer, I don't have any widgets or third-party programs, I don't have an Apple remote, but every ten minutes, my iTunes opens itself and begins playing music. If I have my iPod plugged in or not plugged in, it doesn't matter. If the program is already open, it will start playing randomly.

I have a mac air version 10.9.3 running on mavericks and whenever I plug in my apple earphones, or any earphones with a mic and remote on the cable, itunes starts playing music without me touching anything. It plays music every time the contact plug of the earphones moves in the computer (like if I move the computer and the jack plug gets jiggled) and I don't know how to keep it from doing that. I tried quitting itunes but it didn't work.

On my Early 2008 MP every time I go to full screen mode (already evident in '09) the graphics card fan spins up and there is a discernible pause in transitioning. I think with Lion's big emphasis on full screen functionality, I will be annoyed to death with the pause and annoying fan's whirl.
Is the 2600xt really that outdated? I don't want to get a card for gaming purposes but something that will remedy this. During the presentation you see how fast the applications respond and they're using a iMac. I thought with 8cores I would be at least on par but it could be the graphics card as well. Such a downer.
i'm worried, i just repaired my hard drive with diskwarrior yesterday, because the directory graph was a mess. after the rebuild there were still a few spots on the graph that were out of place. now when i'm computing i have moments where everything freezes for less than a second including my itunes music that is playing. its happening ever 5 minutes or so.

Wondering if this is just me... I have a 17"MBP, 8GB, 10.6.1; having occasional, temporary freezes ("pauses" perhaps) where there is no beach ball....just all activity stops for 20-30 seconds and then it resumes like nothing happened (and catches up on all of the clicks and such that happened during the pause).
This often, but not always, happens when switching spaces (I have VMWare running XP in a second space).
Sometimes when I'm streaming flash videos (youtube and other sites) the video pauses, even though it has loaded the rest of the video. It usually locks up Firefox for about 20 seconds and then continues playing the rest of the video. What could this be? I am running the latest version of flash as well. Maybe I don't have enough cache allotted to handle it in Firefox?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure this out and I've gone through 'Energy Saver' settings and turned off 'Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible' but sometimes - not reliably, playback of a video file just pauses and then resumes as normal after about 10 seconds. It happened just the same with QT and Perian under Leopard and now happens in Snow Leopard too. Similarly, this sort of oddness happens with playback on VLC too.
