When rebooting my computer I got this 'library not found' error...I figured my external hard where all my iTunes stuff is kept hadn't come online yet. That's happened before. Nope. Now I can't seem to find the current library file. Also, strangely, these files were in the trash:

After I moved my iTunes media and library back from an external drive back to my new laptop (with a larger drive), I can't open iTunes. I get this message "The iTunes Library file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the iTunes folder in the "Music" folder. The only option it gives is to click "OK" and iTunes shuts down. I tried reinstalling iTunes but the problem persists. I've checked and my iTunes Library.itl file is in its proper location.

When I attempt to songs in itunes on my computer I get an error message that says: "The song < Name of Song Here> could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" All the songs are listed but can not access them.

Have approx 1300 songs only 60 are accessible. Songs are not available on my Itouch. Itouch syncs but no songs there. Issue happened on 2/25 after my wife bought a song from iStore.

Trying to back up my itunes library, on a certain episode of a TV show I have I get this error code and a message saying it can't be backed up. I've searched all over and have had no luck finding the meaning of the code. Is there a simple fix or is it something more complex?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Retina iMac running OS 10.10.1. My previous computer is a Mac Pro (2006) with 10.7.5 (latest OS it will support). The Mac Pro has iTunes 12.0.1 with the database files on the system hard drive and the media files on a secondary internal hard drive. getting my iTunes library on to the new iMac.
Migration Assistant doesn't work.
Open Migration Assistant on the iMac and it finds the Mac Pro and offers a code which should be verified on the Mac Pro. Open Migration Assistant on the Mac Pro and tell it to "Transfer to another Mac" and get the spinning gear. Left it on all night, they never connected.
Consolidating my iTunes library back to the Mac Pro system hard drive doesn't work.
Following the directions from Apple Support, I pointed my current copy of iTunes (on the Mac Pro) to the default Music folder in order to consolidate the library all in to one folder so that I could transfer it at once to the iMac (iTunes > File > Library > Organize Library). After about 20 minutes I got an error message: "Copying files failed. An unknown error occurred (-22)". I assume there is one or more files screwing this up, but can't figure out which one(s).
Simply copying the entire iTunes media folder over my network from the Mac Pro to the iMac doesn't work.
Error (-50) and the copying fails before it gets more than 50 mb. I'm currently attempting to copy one folder at a time. But I don't assume that I'll be able to rebuild my old library on the new machine this way.
The current iTunes library is about 250 GB. It is slow, but works on the old machine.

When I go to open my itunes software I get a pop-up window that says the following, "The itunes Music Library File cannot be read because it does not appear to be a vaild library file."
I deleted the itunes file (the file that had the logo) and downloaded another copy from Apple but the problem still persists.

I'm having trouble upgrading to iTunes 10.6.1. Earlier today, I opened iTunes, and received an error message that "iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." Still not sure why this happened. I followed a workaround I found by essentially renaming a previous iTunes library. Now, I open iTunes, and when I click on "software update," it is indicated that I can update to 10.6.1. When I attempted to open the iPhoto program, I was unable to do so and I received the following message:
"Your Photo Library was not found. Would you like to find your Photo Library? iPhoto can't continue without a Photo Library. Make sure the disk containing your Photo Library is connected."
This is very strange because I have never moved any of my IPhoto info to an alternate drive, or anywhere else. I have an Ibook G4 with IPhoto 6.0 and Mac OSX. I have also tried looking in User and found that "Library>Pictures" is not even there! When I pull up my Finder, "Photos" does not even appear in the left hand bar below "Applications", "Documents", "Movies", "Music". It is as if it has completely disappeared and I have not done anything (to my knowledge) to delete it! It is just somehow gone.
Each time I launch the iPhoto application it gives me the alert "23 photos have been found in the photo library. That was not imported". My photo events reside on the external drive which I imported from a portable drive. For each recovery it creates a recovered photos folder but it is always blank.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am on a ship using a proxy server from our ISP to connect to the internet via a V-SAT satalite dome. We all have individual accounts and the guys using PC's have no problems connecting to the internet. My account also works on a P.C. However whenever i try to connect to the internet I get an Error message 403 "the following URL could not be found" "access denied". However if I disable my proxy settings reconnect to the internet then re-enable my proxy settings I am able to get on line but only for a minute or two then I get the message again. Switching off my proxies then on again always gets me on line but only for a very short period (30 secs to a minute ish).
There has been an occasional time when I have been able to access the internet for longer but only when there has been 3 or 4 people on line and browsing at the same time. I have spoken to my ISP and he thinks I may have been piggy backing onto someone elses account but was unable to offer any other advice and referred my case to someone else and I am still waiting for their response. I am running a mac book pro on snow leopard 10.6.4, using firefox (have the same problem with Safari) with proxy set to "use system settings" and my network preferences set with the given proxy server settings (192.168.10.132, port 3128). I have the same problems using WiFi or cable also.
Other info: my IP address stays the same. Although my cable IP is different from my wifi address. IPv6 is set to automatic. I think the problem lies with my mac as my given user account works on PC computers ( which I am using now!). Also there are 3 other guys with mac books who have also had the same problems although they are now at home. I have also tried changing to a guest account with similar problems although I cannot change proxy settings.
It happens all the time, and I don't know how to make YouTube work. What can I do?

I am running OS X 10.5.6 and it's a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and the 320 GB HD. My DVD/CD won't accept/load the CD/DVD at all and the real kicker of it is is that the machine JUST went off warranty. I think the CD/DVD is the Mitsubishi one. Any help would be GREAT.

I have tried to reset the parameters.
I have tried to restart the computer and then wait for a few moments.
I have tried to use the hold the mouse down and restart.
I downloaded the Tray Eject applescript and don't know how to run that.
I have NOT tried the shut off and unplug everything but will and see if that works.
The backup disk image 'Volumes/Data/John's iMac.sparsebundle' could not be accessed(error-1).
Have tried remounting Time capsule in preferences. Have run Disc utility to verify 'Time Machine Backups'. Sparsebundle is greyed out in Disc Utility.
Time capsule has 1.37Gb free space and is connected via wireless and has a wireless express as a client. Would deleting the last back up be of assistance assuming corruption?

I made a Winclone image of my Boot Camp partition before upgrading my hard drive, and now I've come to restore the image to a new partition I get the following error: "Invalid Image: MBR Not Found" I get the same error whether I create the partition using Boot Camp Assistant or using Winclone. We have .3gp recordings. All of a sudden, we started getting this error on some of our computers. Example: I want to play test.3gp; I try to open test.3gp in QuickTime, and I get an error that reads...
"Error -2002: A bad public movie atom was found in the movie:test.3gp" But when I go to play test2.3gp, it plays fine. This issue varies from computer to computer. I get this error on all three of my machines. 2 Windows 7 64bit, and 1 Windows 7 32bit. My colleague and boss can play test.3gp fine through QuickTime on their computers. One is Windows 7 64bit the other is 32bit.
Anyone know some causes of this and hopefully a way to solve it? I tried cleaning up registry errors, running as administrator, updating, reinstalling... Nothing is working.
