Each time I launch the iPhoto application it gives me the alert "23 photos have been found in the photo library. That was not imported". My photo events reside on the external drive which I imported from a portable drive. For each recovery it creates a recovered photos folder but it is always blank.

Does anyone know if iPhoto can automatically create groups when, oh, say 13,000 photos have just been imported? I didn't use iPhoto 08. But I have 13000 photos, and I just imported them into iPhoto 09. Does anyone know if there's a way to batch split the photos into events based on the date taken?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just noticed this new the other day when I import pictures from my canon a650 camera iphoto opens up as usual opens the pictures on the camera but all the pictures are fuzzy, like the are slightly pixelated. Once downloaded they look fine. I have checked every preference setting I could and cant figure it out? I am using Iphoto 08 7.1.5
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust imported a few images, and I don't know where they are located on the computer. I would like to know where they are so I can drag them into my photo folder.
Also, my phone camera supports geo-tagging. I have a bunch of pictures I took with geotagging on, and it works fine on the phone. On iPhotos though, only a very little portion of these pictures appear in the "Places" section. If I find a picture in iPhoto and hit the info button and hit location, it doesn't show up on the map, even though it works just fine on my phone (C905). Why doesn't it work properly?
I moved my iphoto library to an external HD (WD Passport) and everything seemed to be working fine. Recently I added more pictures to iphoto, importing them from my camera, and when I tried to view there files, the originals on the passport hard drive, they weren't there. I went into iphoto and clicked on one of the photos and went to show file and it took me to volumes coming from the mac HD but it showed the iphoto library with all the originals. I'm confused where the volumes folder is located and how iphoto put all my photos there and not on my passport. What I should do to put all the photo folders in the same spot on my passport HD?

I finally was able to get the uploader screen to generate but now I cant select anything to attempt to upload. When I use the simple uploader I get the error: Firefox can't find the server at [URL]. View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently imported a full library of pictures into iPhoto.....most of them came across without any problems, but I have about 20 pictures that are green, i mean really green. I check the original file and opened it with lightroom and photoshop and the pictures load normal, I searched and found the iphoto copy and opened it with LR and PS and it opened normal. When I open iphoto and try to do anything with those pictures, they display green in other apps like when I drag and drop them on iweb. Does anyone else have this problem?. its happened on two different iMacs...same library and mostly the same pictures, I have a c2d mac and it did the same things but on that imac it was more like 150 pics that were green, on the new i7 imac its like 20.

The track info is properly displayed for the mounted CD itself and the songs are correctly imported (green checkboxes appear, the MP3 files are placed in the correct folder under "Music/iTunes/iTunes Music", and the MP3 files are playable in Quicktime).

I successfully imported a few hundred classical CDs in the iTunes library of my brand new Mac Mini. In spite of having attempted everything mentioned in the help files, I was unable to get any artwork to match.

Today I've imported some CD's in iTunes. The importing process worked fine, but.... I cannot see the tracks in my music library! I have a smart playlist where I can see the most recent imported music and when I browse that playlist I see the tracks that are not shown in the music library! When i get info on one of these tracks all the details are correct (it's saved in my "iTunes library" folder etc.)

have a new Mac and imported the iTuns library by replacing the iTunes library icon on my new Mac in Music and i now have the imported iTunes master library and an empty iTunes icon. I delete it but it comes back. Is there a way that it should be imported differently? Want to get rid of the duplicate icon but comes back.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn iPhoto 06, in the finder, if you went to the iphoto library folder, you could select the photos in the original or modified folders. I'm using iPhoto 08 on my iMac and I can't do that anymore. For example, when I'm in Photoshop/trying to upload a photo to a webpage and I want to open a photo thats in the iPhoto Libraries Original folder, it won't go any farther than the iPhoto Library, there's no arrow so I can't get to the different folders in the Library. When I click on show file in iPhoto, it will show this location, but other than that I can't get at it. I'm running the latest version, just checked to see if there were any updates and there wasn't. I've taken screen shots to try and explain. the second one is when I try to get at it through the finder and the first one is when I click on "Show File" on a photo in iPhoto.

I very much like that you can see all the information of a selected photo, and that you can sort photos on for example dimensions. It works faster than iPhoto too. The best thing though, is that you can make your own folder-structures.
That's the biggest disadvantage of iPhoto I think. Now I have hundreds (as a matter of speaking) events, which could be grouped to a a few dozens. For example: "Music" > "Concerts" > "Deep Purple" > "California Jam '74"
I know I can create (Smart) albums in iPhoto, but that merges everything into one. If I use my example again, if I would create an album "Music", there would be "California Jam '74" in it, but also an other concert from Deep Purple. And concerts of other bands. And other things related to music. And all of that merged into one huge 'event'.
Am I right or am I missing something?
But, iPhoto looks fantastic, the slideshows are superior, and those new Places and Faces are awesome. But that absence of a folder structure is killing me. If the events were just folder thumbnails...
I'm thinking, what if I do "don't import photos to iPhoto library", and make my own folder structures? That way I can use Bridge as it supposed to be, and if I want to show (off with) my photos I'll go to iPhoto and spend a minute finding the right event.
I've deleted some photos in iPhoto 09 but they're still showing in my iPhoto library. How do I rebuild or reload the library without loosing all the work I've done in Faces and what not?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using iTunes 10.6 and Lion. i have a two problems. i recently moved my iTunes library to my portable hard drive. i have changed the new location under Preference/Advanced to "/portable drive/MUSIC". I have checked 'Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and unchecked 'Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library. 1) After moving my music and and consolidating, some of my music are in the right folder, which is in "/portable drive/MUSIC" folder, but a majority of the music are created into a NEW SUBFOLDER music folder. e.g.: /portable drive/MUSIC/music/ ?? Why is that happen and how can I move tell iTunes to just put it in the main and 1st MUSIC folder. Do you know why it creates a subfolder name music? 2) When importing new music, it doesn't automatically go into the designated folder but instead retains in the original folder that was imported from? e.g.: i import music from mac hard drive into iTunes and when I click on Get Info on the track, the location is still at /my mac hard drive/duran duran instead of /portable drive/MUSIC/. How do I get it to organized the music into /portable drive/MUSIC/

I take photos on my IPhone 4S and pay to have extra storage on ICloud, yet nowhere can I find my photos. Entire years of photos are nowhere to be found.
If ICloud doesn't store photos (which it claims to do: "iCloud gives you access to your music, photos, contacts, calendars, documents, and more from your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Windows computer") then what is the point of ICloud?

When I attempted to open the iPhoto program, I was unable to do so and I received the following message:
"Your Photo Library was not found. Would you like to find your Photo Library? iPhoto can't continue without a Photo Library. Make sure the disk containing your Photo Library is connected."
This is very strange because I have never moved any of my IPhoto info to an alternate drive, or anywhere else. I have an Ibook G4 with IPhoto 6.0 and Mac OSX. I have also tried looking in User and found that "Library>Pictures" is not even there! When I pull up my Finder, "Photos" does not even appear in the left hand bar below "Applications", "Documents", "Movies", "Music". It is as if it has completely disappeared and I have not done anything (to my knowledge) to delete it! It is just somehow gone.
When rebooting my computer I got this 'library not found' error...I figured my external hard where all my iTunes stuff is kept hadn't come online yet. That's happened before. Nope. Now I can't seem to find the current library file. Also, strangely, these files were in the trash:

Each time I start iPhoto I get a message that says: "A photo has been found in the iPhoto Library that was not imported. Import? Yes or No" Not matter if I pick yes or no, the next message says: "Photo has been placed in folder .../.../.../recovered photo_8" I now have 8 of these stupid recovered photo folders. Is there a way to make iPhoto not automatically search my computer?? I would rather drag and drop the photos that I want in there anyways.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter I moved my iTunes media and library back from an external drive back to my new laptop (with a larger drive), I can't open iTunes. I get this message "The iTunes Library file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the iTunes folder in the "Music" folder. The only option it gives is to click "OK" and iTunes shuts down. I tried reinstalling iTunes but the problem persists. I've checked and my iTunes Library.itl file is in its proper location.

Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?
How do I name the file name of my photos that I have imported. They always have a file name dsc (then a number), or p (then a number), depending on the camera I use. I want to name the files after the title of the folder but I just can't seem to figure it out. I'm a novice to mac and hope to love it soon.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported several cd's and tracks into iTunes last night and there were no problems while importing. I was able to listen to my music in the iTunes library up until this evening. When I click on a song, a box pops up saying "Connection Failed: The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name of IP addres and your network connections and try again." So I press "OK" and another box pops up saying "The song "(name)-(artist)" could not be used because the original file could not be found.
Would you like to locate it?" I click on "Yes" and see all my songs listed under iTunes/music but all of the songs I have listed in the library are gray and I cannot click on them. I have checked that I am connected to my home network/internet because I am able to share/listen to my iTunes library located on my Windows desktop as well as browse the internet. The only other thing I could think of doing was downloading the new iTunes 8 which I did, and nothing has changed.
First post and want to say this web site has already been great in answering questions. New Mac user (first 60 days) and had really been wishing that I bought the 1:1 service as the transition from a PC has been hard. Watched all of the iPhoto and Finder on line tutorials last couple of days then found this great site via Google. Wish I had found this about 45 days ago. I have done some searches and I am down to a few last questions / confirmations re: iPhoto. - IPhoto library / pictures in the library are not to be accessed using Finder... it is a finder, not a doer and that is how you end up with those pictures with and ! in them. Correct? I admit that I was thinking finder was like windows explorer and you could do things to photo files, copies, move them around, etc. - Go to many different Forum sites and I need to upload photos to those site. I can't seem to use the "browse for a file" function from these sites and see any of the photo files in the iPhoto library? From posts and a lot of trial and error is the best way to do is just to export the photos out of iPhoto library to a desk top folder? Seems like a work around. Am I missing something?............

I remember it was possible to browse through the iPhoto events, but I don't see this option with Aperture. So is there really no way to use the photos from Aperture as a desktop picture without exporting the photos to an ordinary folder?
