When on my iMac my iTunes app will launch by itself - and after a time will start playing an audio selection, the choice of which depends on what area of iTunes was the last one I was on. Why does iTunes auto-launch? How can I stop it from auto-launching?
BTW, iTunes is the only app that does this. Not sure if this is an iMac or iTunes configuration issue.

I started to use alarm clock 2 an alarm clock application. But for some reason even though I deleted all the alarms I had set to go off, one still seemed to linger on. And it is still lingering on even though I have deleted the application.
Every morning Itunes launches and starts playing music at 8am and there is no indication that there is another application launching it. I've looked in widgets? that didn't work and I cannot seem to find where the problem is so I can fix it. Also this thing, whatever it is is intefering with my computer for instance I cannot rotate with cmd+tab, through the open applications anymore.
How do I remove any application association with the F8 key? F8 is currently launching iTunes when I hit it and since I don't use iTunes on my work computer and need F8 for other functionality this is interfering with my workflow. I do not see any association with the F8 key in System Preferences > Keyboard Preference Pane > Keyboard Shortcuts. The only thing listed there is: Move focus to staus menus ^F8 I also do not see any way to remove the F8 association in any of the iTunes preferences.

I've seen it many times around on internet, but it is driving me ABSOLUTELY MAD. After importing audio/video on iTunes (plus copy into iTunesLibrary), the file automatically starts playing. It is annoying me more and more, I can not seem to turn the function off. iTunes seems to be defaulted nowadays to start autoplay after importing music or video into iTunes~?

My MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.

I double-click on the iTunes icon on my desktop. I get the hourglass for a second, but then nothing happens. I can do this as many times as I like and the program will not launch.
Checking Task Manager, I see the iTunes process is running as is the iTunes helper. I kill both, then try to launch iTunes - same thing. Nothing.

About 4 days ago, iTunes started launching on its own after my iMac has been sitting idle for a while. It doesn't start playing music, it just starts up the main screen. I didn't install any plug-ins or any other software prior to this happening.

I've re-installed a number of times to no effect.
It's incredibly annoying, especially at work - I'm forced to keep my volume off, so then iTunes ends me a warning notification that my volume is off.
Never happened before, going back over a decade. Just started when I "upgraded" to 11.2.2 from 10.x-something. Bad decision on my part.
Ever since upgrading to the latest version of iTunes, it's launching at startup.

Initially I just disabled it by removing components from prefs or other locations in /Library or using AppDelete. Is there a way to stop the self-launching without removing components that only make it harder to use when it has to be reinstalled from scratch. I just want it to be a normal app I click on when "I" want it to open.

Recently, iTunes has been freezing almost immediately after launching, irrespective of other applications running. The problem persists even in Safe Mode, and I have to Force Quit the application each time. Some times it runs fine for one song, but usually freezes immediately (not responding with spinning pinwheel).

I'm running iTunes 7.6 on a MBP 2.4GHz with 10.5.2 installed. Last night, after having a problem with Compressor not launching(ie it would launch but no window would display), I was forced to take Apple's Compressor Troubleshooting basics and trash Compressor, Qmaster, and Motion. I reinstalled those applications without a hitch and everything is working. Or so it seems until this morning when I tried to play a song in iTunes. It would hang up briefly, then quit. The subsequent error message was that "...The Problem may have been caused by the FX plug-in." I trashed CoverSutra, thinking that may have been the problem, despite the fact I never used it. I even uninstalled iWOW2 with no results. Trashing the iTunes .plist did yield some positive results as songs would play, but if I tried to quit iTunes, it will automatically relaunch.
After perusing the Apple support discussion, it seems this is a common problem, although many of the reports were from last month. I just find it odd that all of a sudden I'm now encountering these problems. I do have Synergy installed, but I've never had any problems with it before in the past and even with it not running, iTunes still behaves poorly.
Im using Snow leopard and everytime i press the play/pause button Itunes is launched... this is cumbersome because i use Ecoute to listen to my music so i basic dont have a shortcut to pause my music.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to completely remove itunes from my macbook pro. Before the constant questions about why I want to do this: I just don't want it. I haven't felt a need to use it since I got this macbook in over 3 years, and I don't want it cluttering up my computer asking for autoupdates. I also don't want the auto update program to keep telling me to install itunes every week, because, again, I just don't want it.
So, I need a way to uninstall itunes and also stop autoupdate from telling me that I need to download the latest version. I've already deleted every file that has "itunes" in the name, including the receipt and the application itself, but my comp keeps telling me to update it.
How do I keep this from happening week after week?

I've set up my MB to mount several NAS volumes that I need frequent access to (my documents and photos, for example) on boot up by first connecting to the server and then adding those servers to the "Login Items" list in my account. This caused finder windows for each of these NAS volumes to "pollute" my desktop with every boot. I therefore checked the "hide" checkbox on the list . . . but that hasn't stopped them from opening.

Out of nowhere viber just started launching taking up the whole screen. How do I stop this and make it start by default as a small sized window? It seemed like it used to take whatever size it was when it was last closed but now it's launching full screen.

It's the only one where this happens, but it tends to undershoot by a few characters. It's as though it's trying to estimate how much space to leave for the Ping button -- does anyone use that button?but gets it wrong. This has been happening since 10.6 and still happens with 10.6.1.

Typically in Itunes when "music" is clicked at the bottom of the songs window there is an autofill option. I no longer see that option. Where did it go? I want to change what playlist my Itouch syncs with and I can't without having access to the autofill feature.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way of shutting off the auto-start after inserting a audio CD. The 'When you insert a CD:' drop-down menu only has a few options and 'take no action' is not among them. So, is there any way I can shut off auto-start for iTunes after inserting a CD? Anyone know of an app to auto shut down your mac after it's done running a an iTunes playlist or letting another app run it's course? The Energy saver shut down schedule option is too rigid for me. Basically, I like to listen to a some music as I go to sleep and would love for my mac to shut itself down after it's finished with the playlist. If there isn't a program would anyone know of an applescript that would do that?
