p.s. I downloaded same old g3 version of itunes that said previous owners keeps launching. Also I thought maybe if i erase his that my help however it wont erase due to "itunes helper" message. I dont care if i keep the previous owners itunes I just want to be able to get to the store.

All his applications are still on there, so I would like to do a clean install and start again. Lion was already installed so I do not have any discs to re-install. When on my iMac my iTunes app will launch by itself - and after a time will start playing an audio selection, the choice of which depends on what area of iTunes was the last one I was on. Why does iTunes auto-launch? How can I stop it from auto-launching?Â
BTW, iTunes is the only app that does this. Not sure if this is an iMac or iTunes configuration issue.

I started to use alarm clock 2 an alarm clock application. But for some reason even though I deleted all the alarms I had set to go off, one still seemed to linger on. And it is still lingering on even though I have deleted the application.
Every morning Itunes launches and starts playing music at 8am and there is no indication that there is another application launching it. I've looked in widgets? that didn't work and I cannot seem to find where the problem is so I can fix it. Also this thing, whatever it is is intefering with my computer for instance I cannot rotate with cmd+tab, through the open applications anymore.
I am using the latest version of iTunes on Windows Vista, but this issue has been around for a while in my experience.
I double-click on the iTunes icon on my desktop. I get the hourglass for a second, but then nothing happens. I can do this as many times as I like and the program will not launch.
Checking Task Manager, I see the iTunes process is running as is the iTunes helper. I kill both, then try to launch iTunes - same thing. Nothing.

About 4 days ago, iTunes started launching on its own after my iMac has been sitting idle for a while. It doesn't start playing music, it just starts up the main screen. I didn't install any plug-ins or any other software prior to this happening.

Initially I just disabled it by removing components from prefs or other locations in /Library or using AppDelete. Is there a way to stop the self-launching without removing components that only make it harder to use when it has to be reinstalled from scratch. I just want it to be a normal app I click on when "I" want it to open.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow do I remove any application association with the F8 key? F8 is currently launching iTunes when I hit it and since I don't use iTunes on my work computer and need F8 for other functionality this is interfering with my workflow. I do not see any association with the F8 key in System Preferences > Keyboard Preference Pane > Keyboard Shortcuts. The only thing listed there is: Move focus to staus menus ^F8 I also do not see any way to remove the F8 association in any of the iTunes preferences.Â

I'm running iTunes 7.6 on a MBP 2.4GHz with 10.5.2 installed. Last night, after having a problem with Compressor not launching(ie it would launch but no window would display), I was forced to take Apple's Compressor Troubleshooting basics and trash Compressor, Qmaster, and Motion. I reinstalled those applications without a hitch and everything is working. Or so it seems until this morning when I tried to play a song in iTunes. It would hang up briefly, then quit. The subsequent error message was that "...The Problem may have been caused by the FX plug-in." I trashed CoverSutra, thinking that may have been the problem, despite the fact I never used it. I even uninstalled iWOW2 with no results. Trashing the iTunes .plist did yield some positive results as songs would play, but if I tried to quit iTunes, it will automatically relaunch.
After perusing the Apple support discussion, it seems this is a common problem, although many of the reports were from last month. I just find it odd that all of a sudden I'm now encountering these problems. I do have Synergy installed, but I've never had any problems with it before in the past and even with it not running, iTunes still behaves poorly.
Im using Snow leopard and everytime i press the play/pause button Itunes is launched... this is cumbersome because i use Ecoute to listen to my music so i basic dont have a shortcut to pause my music.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have my itunes folder backed up from my iMac to my external HD. The whole "Music" folder was copied. I am trying to use that library on the external the main library since my iMac is gone. I have no music files on the Macbook (only had 20, deleted them), so I'm just trying to redirect iTunes to look at, and show the iTunes library in the iTunes music folder that I have backed up on the HD.
Ideally, I want it to copy over anything new I drag into it going forward so that everything's on the external. So I've read numerous articles on how to do what should be a simple task and it has proved anything but. I went into prefs. and changed the location of the iTunes library to the external folder of 'iTunes Music.' Then it pops up and says "do you want iTunes to rename the files in keeping with your "keep folders organized selection"? So I say yes, even though everything is already organized.
So it's not showing up yet, I restart iTunes, nothing. So I hit file, library, organize library. Then I hit consolidate files and "upgrade to itunes organization." Nothing. I restart iTunes, nothing. What is going on? I would like to be able to keep it updated on the external, and would like to do this with iPhoto as well. I know it's possible, but once again, it seems Apple is trying to make something that should be easy more difficult than it needs to be.

My iTunes player is getting on my nerves. For some reason, the Previous Button is always highlighted. So whenever I press the spacebar, it does not stop the player, but it rewinds the song to the beginning. I can't click in the next/previous buttons fast. I mean, if I click once (e.g. to skip a song) I can't click again until about 1 sec later. If I try to click again before 1 sec after the first click, it doesn't do anything at all, as if there's not even a button there. And no matter for how long I keep making several fast clicks, it just won't skip the song. I have to stop clicking, wait 1 sec, and THEN click. This happens either using the trackpad or a mouse. Quite annoying.
There's no problem though if I skip songs fast using the Next/Previous key in the keyboard.Â

I went to open my itunes and it said "itunes needs a library to open" then it would only let me choose a library that was dated to last july. I clicked on it and it opened my library from that date. I am really mad because it will now only open that library and im missing almost a thousand songs that have been downloaded since then. Why can i only open a previous library? Are all the songs, movies, and other settings that i have changed in the last 6 months gone?

I just bought my first Mac a month ago, and have since completely ignored my girlfriend for this new lover. I bought a MBA Rev A, used with a ton of software still loaded on it. The problem is, the guy I bought it from was a Korean exchange student, and set the comp with Korean as the native language. I did a password reset to get the language change, then set myself up as an Admin account. The problem I have here is that the software loaded on this laptop is awesome, but I can't update any of it because I don't have owner permissions.
I understand the only way to get owner permissions is to do an Erase and Install of Leopard, but if I do that, then I lose all the software. This laptop came loaded with Adobe CS3, Parallels, Office for Mac, Toast 9 Titanium, and I think there might be another program. My question here is, is there any way to gain access to these programs, by using a copying software to make disk images of them, or by simplifying copying down all of the Product Keys, and reinstalling the programs from a hard disk.
Hey guys, i just purchased a open but new macbook pro i5, i guess the owner logged in to make sure it was ok and his name and info is still on the laptop, do u guys know how and where to go to change all that information??? so far i have deleted his user and made mine admin. Is it better to just pop in the install cd and install dvd and reinstall it? not to familiar with osx.
