For an unknown reason, iTunes button and menu controls for shuffle, repeat, back and next have stopped working. I have iTunes 10.6.3 on a MacBook Pro (early 2008) running Lion (10.7.4). I have made sure software is up to date and have restarted the computer and software more than once to no avail.Â
Let's say I pick Song A manually, it finishes and moves on to Song B. 10 songs after Song B, if I manually select A, all those songs play in the exact same order. The only thing that changes the order is restarting iTunes.
I've tried everything to get it to shuffle even resorting to reinstalling it. I've tried everything and even came up empty handed after Googling it.
I've tried changing the settings from shuffling from songs to albums or groupings, but nothing works. It seems like such a small problem, when really it's very cumbersome to deal with.
So I updated my MacBook Pro last night and now my playlists wont shuffle correctly. When I turn on the shuffle feature and I have a column selected (number, rating, etc), all it does is rearrange the songs. it's not a real shuffle because I can still see which song is coming next (ie, songs 1, 2, and 3 might become 3, 1, and 2, but they'll still play in that order). When I turn on the shuffle feature without any column being selected, nothing happens. even though the shuffle button is blue, the songs in the playlists play in their exact order. the shuffle only seems to work properly when im playing music out of the entire music library, not one playlist.
How to combine two apple id's on new shuffle? On my old computer, I used one e-mail address. I used my other e-mail address when I set up my new Nano on my new computer.
Quite bizarrely, in iTunes 10, shortcuts to skip next song (command - right arrow) or adjust volume (command - down arrow/up arrow) don't appear to work in shuffle (iTunes DJ). The shortcuts work fine in every other playlist other than iTunes DJ.
I want to take the songs off my shuffle and put them into a new playlist so I can reorder them--how do I do that? Or, how can I simply change the order? (I have the version where you can listen to songs in order or random).
When I set the shuffle mode on my iMac or iPod I get a different start track each time I restart but when I try on my MacBook it always reverts to the same start track. I've tried looking in Preferences but cannot find anything relevant.
Both my MacBook Pro and iPhone were set up to shuffle all songs, but in the past they seem to have played an awful lot of repeats without playing different music all the time! Now I just updated the software and re-synced and can't even set up shuffle on the phone any more. Clicking on the crossed and uncrossed arrows on each side of the phone doesn't do anything. Shaking just shuffles inside the album playing.
i recently got a 3rd gen iPod shuffle. In my music i have "synced only checked playlists" I also have sync only checked songs. When I make a change to my playlist in iTunes and sync, it doesn't change in the shuffle when I sync.
I tuned on parental control to limit my kids to an hour per day. Works great except when they play music (iTunes). I don't want playing music to against their allowed time. I would like to let them play (music) as long as they want w/o it timing out
there is multi-touch controls for itunes, for example navigating through the menu. Id like a three finger swipe left and right for forwards and backwards to where i have just been.
i wonder if anyone else has found this problem i just came across. I'm using my airport express to play my iTunes on some speakers, but the volume shortcuts on the keyboard don't control the volume for some reason. you have to open iTunes and use the slider. are the buttons for the computer speakers only?
I started using OS X Lion last week. For some reason, when I launch iTunes, the window has no close button, zoom button nor minimize button. Moreover, the Mac menu bar doesn't show up.Â

For some reason itunes on my macbook pro doesnt have any of the tabs in the upper left corner like other itunes. The file, edit, view, controls, store, advnced,
The previous Wireless Alum. Keyboard was model MB167LL/A. The one on Apple's site is now MC184LL/A complete with wiped reviews (I think there is one now).
Is there anything different about it? Maybe an improved BT antenna to go with the theme of the other devices that were updated?
edit: someone beat me to it I suppose, but didn't state it was the wireless so I didn't see it at first. 2 batteries now I suppose.
I created this piece of code using AppleScript Editor on OS X Lion 10.7.3 and I want to make it automatically repeat itself every 10 seconds. The code is supposed to reload the tab which the user is currently on every 10 seconds. I made the reload part but can't figure out how to make it reload every 10 seconds after extensive googling. Here is the code, can someone add the needed code it to make it reload the current page every 10 seconds and reply to me please.tell application "Safari" activateend tell tell application "System Events" tell process "Safari" keystroke "r" using {command down} end tellend tell
I didn't find this in a forum search. Lately, the "quit' command in the File menu is greyed out and will not work in Safari (v 5.1.5). Likewise, the cmd-Q doesn't work either.I can Force-Quit, but that seems unreasonable. I can't duplicate the issue, so I don't know what I'm doing to trigger this. Anyone encounter similar behavior? Having posted, I now see several similar threads. The only suggestion I see is to delete the history and cache, and then reboot. I'll try that. However, if i just force-quit and re-open, the issue may not reoccur for hours or days. I regularly run Onyx and delete all of that as suggested, yet the issue seems to keep happening. I guess my question now: does the deletion really temporarily solve the issue, or is the issue random and doesn't usually repeat right away. Any thoughts on what's happening? Â

When I first purchased Lion and used the iCal application, I was able to set Reminders to repeat themselves on a daily basis (eg. Take Your Pill). But now, for some unknown reason, this option has disappeared. I have one reminder that still shows this (since I have not marked it completed), but I cannot create any new daily reminders. What happened? Did Apple remove this option from iCal?
How can i open the files in the folder if you scroll to "--open file items of the name folder" you can see where I am struggling to run the script. How should this look to run, currently the script runs, with no errors or anything appearing in the folders.
When I sustain pressure over a key I get repeats if that key happens to be a special character but only a single character if it is an alphanumeric key. The key repeat in the keyboard preferences is at is fastest.I would like it the other way.

when I got my macbook with Lion, I changed the keyrepeat to a bit higher speed, because I think the default is a bit to slow.
Then I changed my Harddrive and immigrated my user profile, except the User Data folders...
Then, I changed had to change my UID to make my old Userdata available again, and I guess, something may be went wrong here...Â
Wenn I change the keyrepeat speed in the keyboard preferences, there is no effect at all. It stays at the same speed, even if I turn of the keyrepeat.Â
How do I get the Calendar to repeat an event just one day a week? It always wants to repeat across all days and all weeks, not just the one day each week I want.Â
