View 1 Repliesi wonder if anyone else has found this problem i just came across. I'm using my airport express to play my iTunes on some speakers, but the volume shortcuts on the keyboard don't control the volume for some reason. you have to open iTunes and use the slider. are the buttons for the computer speakers only?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI think this is a problem that started with Snow Leopard and I'm wondering if there's a solution to it yet.
Right now I have iTunes open playing music, as well as a paused video in VLC. When I press the play/pause button (F8) on my black late 2008 MacBook, it pauses iTunes but then unpauses the VLC video. This is obviously totally unwanted behavior. How do I fix this so that this button only controls one app at a time?
Is it true the optical audio out doesn't respond to the keyboard audio controls? I read that the tosslink out volume cannot be adjusted using the keyboard controls. Can anyone confirm?

I tuned on parental control to limit my kids to an hour per day. Works great except when they play music (iTunes). I don't want playing music to against their allowed time. I would like to let them play (music) as long as they want w/o it timing out

I have iTunes 10.6.3 on a MacBook Pro (early 2008) running Lion (10.7.4). I have made sure software is up to date and have restarted the computer and software more than once to no avail.

I have my Mini hooked up through a usb/minidisplayport to HDMI adapter. On my keyboard when I push mute or volume up or down, the computer shows the mute/vol up/vol down icon on the screen when I push it and it makes the volume sound, but it does not actually mute the tv or make the volume go up or down. Only the actual TV controls will make it work.
View 8 Replies View Relatedthere is multi-touch controls for itunes, for example navigating through the menu. Id like a three finger swipe left and right for forwards and backwards to where i have just been.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone knows how to do this- it is a pita to adjust separate volume controls on everything. If I adjust the volume on the keyboard, the volume slider in itunes doe snot move. If I set the volume on itunes with a mouse, then come home and use the volume controls on my keyboard, I have to also manually adjust the slider in itunes. Anyway to link the two?

I was running a movie from netflix, and it stopped, giving an error code. Netflix said it was an error because parental controls were turned on on my computer, not in my Netflix preference settings. I didn't know I had parental controls on my computer! And I was watching an old prime time television show that should not have caused a parental control shutdown anyway.

Today when I jumped on my Macbook and was watching a youtube video I tried to turn down the sound using my sound button in the upper right hand corner.. but nothing happened. I could see the sound bar that pops up in the middle of the screen go up and down but the sound stayed where it was. This is new and has never happened before.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat happened was that I just booted my mac up. And suddenly, all the controls and stuff were screwed. What's happening on my mac is that the computer itself just keeps hold either the command or space key and I wasn't even touching anything. So basically, when I try typing in something, it keeps holding the spacebar, so it comes out like t h i s. Just an example. And sometimes, it would just hold the command key, and sometimes drag off menu-bars that I don't want to.

My controls also stopped working on adjusting brightness. When I click increase volume, it brings up my dashboard. I did not spill anything on my laptop. It just started happening out of nowhere. I also tried restating and its still not working.

I have set parental controls for my daughter's laptop and I'm finding them a little too controlling! In particular, it requires my consent for accessing our wifi home printer (not a problem, I've approved that) but then also for the printer at her school. Other than turning off controls for a day to allow her to get authorized for whatever printers they have at the school, and hoping that the authorization will last, is there a way to exclude printing from the parental controls in the first place?

I set up a new user account for my daughter on my computer, an account running Simple Finder. I would like to restrict all applications, except one, because this is for homework.
When I specify the application that is allowed in the parental controls, and then attempt to open it from her applications folder I get the message "You do not have permission..." I tried putting the application in the Shared Folder but that did not change anything.

I have the original model, MacBookPro1,1. I want to change my keyboard backlight keys, or F11/F12, to control iTunes. Is there any easy/free/clean way to do this? no for-pay apps, as it isn't worth money to me.

When I start my Macbook Pro (mid 2009 15") I get the familiar audio chime. However, when it finishes startup and I get to my desktop, I have no audio, and the audio icon up top is grayed out. The audio output jack works fine. I can use speakers and headphones. I've tried the solution of wiggling around a headphone plug in the jack, as well as doing the same with a toothpick. I've also reset the PRAM. For some reason, the problem persists. When I open sound settings in preferences, the only device listed is "Digital Out" and there is a message under it saying "The Selected Device has No Output Controls."

iTunes is playing and I hit the play/pause key (F8) the entire keyboard will go dark, but only if I'm pausing. it doesn't do it when I'm hitting the button to resume a song, only when I'm using it to pause one. the backlight sometimes takes minutes to come back on, at random, and sometimes it doesn't and I just have to turn it back on myself.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my daughter's accounts setup with parental controls (she's 9). I use the Parental Controls to limit the apps that she has access to so she does not get into trouble with applications that she should not be using.
I was working in my daughter's accounts the other day and I accessed the "System Preferences" application. Because this was one of the applications that I blocked, I was prompted (something to the effect of): This application is blocked by parental controls do you want to "Always Allow access", "Allow Access One Time", "Cancel"
I selected "Always allow" by accident. Now, when I go into parental controls, the "System Preferences" box is still unchecked, indicating that it should not be accessible by my daughter - but, when I go into my daughter's account, she has free/clear access to system preferences. I've tried checking and unchecking the Systems Preferences in parental controls, but it does not block access.
I noticed that my in-laws 13-year old kid spends all his time glued to their iMac. I know that his user-account has parental controls enabled, and his computer-time is limited. I talked with him about it, and he mentioned that "Those time-limits are useless, since I can easily bypass them". He wouldn't tell me how he does it, though.
So, how could he bypass the controls? I'm asking because I would like to be able to plug that hole (if possible), so he would do something else than sit by the computer all the time.
"Discussing" the matter with a frigging 13-year old who thinks he knows everything is next to useless.
Alternatively: is there a third-party parenting-app that would offer more robust features that the OS X built-in toold do?
I have a 13-year old son on an iBook running 10.4. Due to various internet and chat room issues which I won't go into here, I've had to add myself as an administrator on his computer and activate parental controls on his user account. His new goal in life now is to figure out how to circumvent them.
It seems like it shouldn't be possible . . . but then again, nothing is impossible. How concerned do I need to be?
I can't seem to find the AV controls anywhere in version 10. Someone tell me where they are. In Leopard, it was in the window tab but this isn't the case in SL.
