I started using OS X Lion last week. For some reason, when I launch iTunes, the window has no close button, zoom button nor minimize button. Moreover, the Mac menu bar doesn't show up.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and installed the OS Maverick's recent 10.9.3 update on my 15" Retina Macbook Pro. However since then I am unable to use certain features, like when I right-click on the Desktop, the menu bar shows only two possible options. I cannot "clean up" the icons on my Desktop anymore. Futhermore, I cannot right-click on some places at all - in Finder for example, nothing happens when I right-click on blank space. Only when I right-click on the icons itself does the menu bar pop up, and that only if the viewing mode is in list, columns, or cover flow (basically not in the "icons" viewing mode).Â
If I understand correctly instead of showing the possible actions that you can't do in grey, it's simply not showing them at all? Either way it's really ugly, and the usefull clean up application is gone!Â

I just bought and set up a Mac mini (mid 2011) and using Lion 10.7.3 Mail does not show its main window. all Preference tabs show but I can not see any mail messages. No mailboxes, nothing. Mail and its menu items show on the menu bar but no window to see mail.Mail 5.2 according to the application icon when viewed in the Finder. I downloaded the Combo update for Lion 10.7.3 but made no change to Mail misbehavior.

I have a number of folders on my desktop that contain movie files, jpeg files, you name it. When I try to import from the desktop, the import media window only shows the files and not the folders they are in! I have included a screen shot of what my window looks like when I select the desktop to import media. Again, I have a number of folders that don't show up, only the files in them. This is maddening when trying to import files! I know i can move the files to my hard drive but i am used to desktop work flow.

I am trying to burn some audio mix CDs from my iTunes collection, and as my MacBook Pro's Superdrive has got fluff in it or something similar, I am sharing my library with my girlfriend's iMac and attempting to burn from there. We both run the current iTunes, but I have the burn options on my MBP's menu but cannot see any burn options on the iMac's menu or in the playlist window. It's not just my library I can't burn on her iMac, I couldn't burn any of her library either. It's not that burn options are greyed out, they aren't there at all. Very odd considering we are both running current iTunes.

I'm sitting here typing a paper and my illuminated keyboard goes out when its set to be on all the time. I try adjusting it manually and it won't let me. My controls also stopped working on adjusting brightness. When I click increase volume, it brings up my dashboard. I did not spill anything on my laptop. It just started happening out of nowhere. I also tried restating and its still not working.

When this happens clicking anywhere in the screen or running an app prompts it to show up and then all is OK again.Ive only noticed this happen since getting a magic mouse a couple of weeks ago. View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this is a Windows type thing, but it's something I like when I Bootcamp into XP. I switch between windows a lot, and it's nice how on XP in the taskbar at the bottom all the windows are displayed. I know I can do CMD + Tab, I know I can do the display all windows, but it's just a lot easier this way. I sit back in my chair a lot while browsing the internets and its easier if I can do it with my mouse. I was wondering if the active windows can be displayed in the upper menu bar, not the Dock, because mine autohides and it would be easier in the menu.

In OS X the Menu Bar is always on the top left. Now, I don't know all the shortcuts yet, so I have to click with my mouse on e.g. "history" (in safari) to find out that "shift" "cmd" "H" brings me back to home.
Now, I don't want to click with my mouse on "history" in order to view the menu. Just as in Windows I want to be able to open the "history" menu with a short cut. In Windows if I pressed "alt" it would underline the letter I would have to press in order to open a certain menu (e.g. "alt" + "f" for file menu).
I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8, one of the 2008 black/white models. Yesterday, I was messing around with my computer because the hard drive will not show up in the finder (I already did the system preferences, doesn't work). However, I guess I must have deleted something because when I restarted my computer, the menu bar blinks in and out unless i get onto safari but I can't get into finder at all. Also, All of my items on my desk top are gone. And I can't get into Itunes (file locked, on a locked disk, or do not have written permission to enter it)
I'm assuming this means I need to take it in and get it fixed. But I wanted to see if I can do anything to avoid that because I am in college and have a paper every week so I pretty much live off of my computer.
Is there a way to only hide the menu bar, but keep the dock unhidden? I tried Menu Magic, but it hides both. Menu Eclipse can a put a black bar on top of it, but you can't maximize windows to fill up the space it takes up.
Basically I want a "Turn Hiding On" feature for the menu bar.
I'd like to know how to add and/or delete items from the menu bar.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI find that doing anything that requires admin access is currently impossible. The authentication window won't show up. For example, opening up System Preferences > Accounts and clicking on the lock just makes it say "Authenticating..." for a few seconds before going back to "Click on the lock to make changes". What could possibly cause this?
so, not sure what I did, but recently these little windows pop up that tell me what certain applications are doing. Currently they show up when I change a song in itunes a last.fm window pops up to tell me the song changed, and it also pops up in skype it pops up telling me the other person is typing and when they send there message. It's probably something really dumb that I didn't realize I did, but I can't seem to figure it out.
They are all the last.fm windows covering the screen. They usually don't show up in that mass amount, but I just skipped through itunes so a bunch of them would show up and get the point across

I'm using my airport express to play my iTunes on some speakers, but the volume shortcuts on the keyboard don't control the volume for some reason. you have to open iTunes and use the slider. are the buttons for the computer speakers only?
