Let's say I pick Song A manually, it finishes and moves on to Song B. 10 songs after Song B, if I manually select A, all those songs play in the exact same order. The only thing that changes the order is restarting iTunes.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have accumulated a large amount of Christmas music in my iTunes library and am running out of space on my hard drive. I would like to create a library on an external hard drive that contains only my Christmas music and delete it from my computer. I have successfully created a library that i named "iTunes - Christmas". On this HD there were 64 albums that had nothing to do with Christmas music.
My question is, how do I get my 758 pieceses Christmas music from my MacBook Pro to my iTunes Library on my external HD, freeing up space on my computer?

Why is iTunes automatically changing my genre metadata? For the past couple months I’ve noticed that iTunes has been changing genre information in my music library. This is a problem because I’ve spent the past decade tweaking the metadata in my iTunes Library to be exactly the way that I want it (particularly with genre and grouping information).
I have a very large iTunes library and I’ve changed genre and grouping info for organizational reasons. When iTunes changes the genre of my music, it’s effecting my smart playlists and causing a domino effect of mis-organization. Tracks and albums are popping up in multiple genres, and things are getting disorganized very quickly.
I suspect that iTunes is changing the genre info of my purchased music back to how it appears in the iTunes store and that this is going to be a new ongoing Apple issue that is quietly ignored.
Other notes/observations:
-I am NOT using iTunes Match
-Genius is turned OFF
-Tracks being automatically edited is music that has been purchased from the iTunes Store
-Not all tracks purchased from the iTunes Store is being automatically edited
-If I Command-Info a track that has been edited by iTunes, the metadata changes back to what I had changed it to. But ONLY when I Command-Info or play the track. Otherwise the track stays lost in it’s reversed genre and the track disappears from smart playlists that it’s included in.
I replaced an older lesser quality mp3 with a higher quality version by replacing the original file. I've done this hundreds of times without a problem. I'm using 10.6.1, and when I replaced a song in this manner yesterday, I am unable to click on the end of the timeline of the song. It will only advance to the :35 second mark left in the song. Fast forwarding through the song also stops at the same point. It refuses to advance beyond that :35 left mark except by letting it play normally. I know the new file advances fine in iTunes if I drag it into iTunes and create a duplicate version. Is there some metadata from the old file that is causing iTunes to think the new file ends early because it is a few megs larger? Can this be cleared by a method other than reimporing the song new? I'd like to keep the Date Added, Ratings, and Play count info.

I saw a couple of other threads talking about this and thought we should have a thread where you can show off and share your own custom made Genre thumbnails. In case your not sure how to do it this is a good guide: [URL]. Basically you need to create a jpeg, put it in the right folder (iTunes>Contents>Resources) with the correct name and then adjust a tiny bit of information in the genre plist.
Its very simple and people who have no experience with this kind of stuff will be able to do it easily. Also if (like me) you are annoyed at the fact that some genres are missing you can add your own in the exact same way as in he link posted. Note in mine that Action & Adventure are now two separate genres and i've added Gangster, Kung Fu, Comic & Anime. Mine are all supposed to be the best films of that genre (ok maybe not Transformers ). Pic link now added, download!
How can I add and delete options from the genre drop down list? I want to customize my genre list so it only contains genres I want to use. How can I delete the ones I don't want and add the ones I want?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to not install a specific version/update of an iOS applications. The reasons for wanting to not install a specific version/update are varied, but include a "DO NOT INSTALL THIS VERSION" type warning from the developer. Within iTunes I always selectivly install updates and do not use the "Update All" primarly so I can evaluate which updates to install. Is there a way to mark an update as "I want to skip this version" so it will be visually different then other updates, or not present in the list of updates?

This has been happening to me for a while now. Sometimes when I drag music files into iTunes, only some of the songs will actually work. The ones that don't will play the first few seconds and then skip to the next song. I know that these files are NOT corrupted because if I keep deleting it from iTunes and reading it, I will eventually get the whole song to play. It's super annoying and I hate having to manually upload every single track multiple times. When I sync my iPhone to my computer, the same songs will only play a few seconds!

I can't click in the next/previous buttons fast. I mean, if I click once (e.g. to skip a song) I can't click again until about 1 sec later. If I try to click again before 1 sec after the first click, it doesn't do anything at all, as if there's not even a button there. And no matter for how long I keep making several fast clicks, it just won't skip the song. I have to stop clicking, wait 1 sec, and THEN click. This happens either using the trackpad or a mouse. Quite annoying.
There's no problem though if I skip songs fast using the Next/Previous key in the keyboard.
I'm using a Macbook Air 2013, iTunes 11.2.2 (3).
I've tried everything to get it to shuffle even resorting to reinstalling it. I've tried everything and even came up empty handed after Googling it.
I've tried changing the settings from shuffling from songs to albums or groupings, but nothing works. It seems like such a small problem, when really it's very cumbersome to deal with.
Oh and I use iTunes 8.
So I updated my MacBook Pro last night and now my playlists wont shuffle correctly. When I turn on the shuffle feature and I have a column selected (number, rating, etc), all it does is rearrange the songs. it's not a real shuffle because I can still see which song is coming next (ie, songs 1, 2, and 3 might become 3, 1, and 2, but they'll still play in that order). When I turn on the shuffle feature without any column being selected, nothing happens. even though the shuffle button is blue, the songs in the playlists play in their exact order. the shuffle only seems to work properly when im playing music out of the entire music library, not one playlist.

For an unknown reason, iTunes button and menu controls for shuffle, repeat, back and next have stopped working. I have iTunes 10.6.3 on a MacBook Pro (early 2008) running Lion (10.7.4). I have made sure software is up to date and have restarted the computer and software more than once to no avail.

Quite bizarrely, in iTunes 10, shortcuts to skip next song (command - right arrow) or adjust volume (command - down arrow/up arrow) don't appear to work in shuffle (iTunes DJ). The shortcuts work fine in every other playlist other than iTunes DJ.

Both my MacBook Pro and iPhone were set up to shuffle all songs, but in the past they seem to have played an awful lot of repeats without playing different music all the time! Now I just updated the software and re-synced and can't even set up shuffle on the phone any more. Clicking on the crossed and uncrossed arrows on each side of the phone doesn't do anything. Shaking just shuffles inside the album playing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe play/pause and skip/rewind buttons on my keyboard are not working with the latest version of iTunes (11.3.1). I've read about fixes related to the Google Chrome extension, but I don't have that extension. I noticed that the buttons work with Spotify but not with iTunes. When I test the buttons on iTunes, I make sure that Spotify is completely closed. The play/pause function is especially important to me, as I use it to transcribe interviews quickly.
