I have a imac running osx. I have the newest iTunes installed. When I "get track names", there are often several options for the same CD available. If I choose the wrong one, there is no way to undo the titling and choose one of the other titles offered.

I was ripping in a cd which itunes identified with multiple titles & Artists, so I had to choose one. I accidentally chose the wrong one and now I can't figure out how to undo it. I've ejected and rebooted itunes, but it still identifies that cd with the wrong title&Artist that I picked. How to undo my mistake so I can rip in my cd for who it really is?

Gonna be moving from my old mac onto a shiny new MacBook and while its easy enough to take over the contents of my iTunes and the iTunes Library file over to the new machine to preserve my play lists & play counts, I want to be able to take over the CD track name and information so if I put in a CD I had personally amended the information to, the information is still there as apposed to just connecting to the great music database in the sky and downloading the information like it does when I put in a fresh music CD for the first time. When I copied over the Library file to my new machine and put in a CD that had already been done it went ahead and connected to the database instead so obviously the CD information is not stored there. Anyone have any idea what file I should be looking at to copy over or is this going to be horribly difficult?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have made repeated attempts to burn playlists to disk. But now the tracks are recorded as untitled tracks (with numered order). When I reload the CD's to itunes, I'm prmpted that that itunes can't get track info. THis used to work perfectly, now fails every time. Interface errorr? Perhaps disks too old?

When importing CDs track names no longer are found. This is a problem that has just begun. I use iTunes to download audio books to my computer and then move them to my mp3 player. I can enter the name of the CD and the disk number,myself, but on importing the track names are listed as track 01 etc. That means when put the book on my mp3 player I can only load one disk at a time or the first disk is overwritten by the second, etc.
I've never had this problem. The last time I downloaded a CD was August 2014. When I tried to import two weeks ago, all of a sudden the track names were not there.

I've been having lots of trouble getting itune to work smoothly, having lots of error messages. It frequently says things like" iTunes can’t verify the identity of the server “init.itunes.apple.com”." and other variants with different web addresses. Mostly when I'm trying to use the itunes store. And I've bought a CD recently and when I try to load it at search for the track names it makes the error noise, and a window flashes up saying (ironically ) "no error". This same album is on the itunes store to purchase.

iTunes has been unable to find the track names for a number of CD's I've recently tried to import. Some of them are on the iTunes store too. Each time I try it says "No error". Once it said "this user is not authorised for online use" but that stopped when I quit iTunes and restarted. Should I delete the app then reinstall?

I have two Macs, and on one I went through the arduous task of labelling a bunch of CD-R's I made ages ago in Itunes, and now I want to import those discs via different encoding into another computer, but don't want to have to re-enter all that info. When I put the discs into the original machine, the info is still assigned to the disc. I want to migrate that info to the other machine so I won't have to re-enter this stuff. I feel like I found this data at one point ages ago, but now I can't.

I've been trying to submit track names of a compilation CD with multiple artists (all different) to the CDDB database via itunes. However, when I choose "submit CD track names" under Advanced, it asks for a single artists name for the whole compilation. I've tried leaving this field blank but it comes up with the message: "This CD needs an artist name in order to submit this information". I don't want to add an artist name as the tracks are all by different artists. I've tried ticking and un-ticking the Part of a Compilation box (in the window that pops up to send cd track names and in the Get Info window for each track) but the same message appears each time. Is there any solution to this frustrating problem?
Its a commercial CD our company has had made (world music) and one that we will be selling copies of. I'm worried that if I put Various Artists it will change the original artist fields (which we want to keep) to "Various Artists" which isn't what we want.
when i click on an album in Grid view, the track names don't show up, and the "name" option doesn't appear in the column browser when you're choosing what to see.

Get error message "The selected movie won't play on your Display", This movie can only be played on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)." My itunes is shuffling my music, and I do not have that option selected. It is also choosing from 3 artist from the many I have and it keeps playing the same artist and songs over and over again. All was going well, but suddenly when accessing the "Get Info" of a particular album in order to add Artwork I got a message like "Are you sure you want to get the information of Multiple items" (my emphasis). (The error message may not be word perfect because I clicked the "don't show again" box and haven't seen it since.)But the point is that I definitely did not have multiple items selected.
There is nothing I can now do to select "Get Info" for a single album, and as a consequence I will never be able to add Artwork again when necessary.I looked through the Internet and found references to the com.apple.itunes.plist. However although I can see this using Terminal I cannot find it using Finder!This is no better than Windows, and in fact rather worse: I tried to delete iTunes, since it is obviously corrupted in some obscure way, with a view to re-installing it. But I can't even do that because it is "needed by Mac OS X"!

I did a bunch of googling, and couldn't find an answer to this or how to do this except with windows-based mp3tag apps.
I have a collection of .WAV files with no tags or filenames at all, but they are all nested in folders that are named with the album the files are from. All the actual .WAV file names are just Track01, Track02, etc. Obviously if I imported these as-is it would be a disorganized disaster.
I am trying to import them into my iTunes library as ALAC lossless-compressed files.
All I would like to do is have the imported files tagged with the folder as the album name.
I can't seem to find any tag editor that will do this on a Mac. I don't want to sit here for hours in iTunes manually entering the album tag for each imported song, that would take ages. Are there any options, or do I brew a pot of coffee...?
For example I've got an artist on there with several and i mean several songs of his that are under travie, and travis mccoy, and also t pain, and t-pain. lil'wayne, lil wayne is there an app that could change all of this easily for me, because i would like the names to be the same in the songs as well so highlighting and clicking get info won't help to much.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have iTunes 11.2.2, and I've recently made use of iTunes' "disc x of y" feature, instead of entering the disc number in the album title like I used to. I made this change because putting disc numbers in the album-title field makes the two discs appear as two separate albums, with the artwork appearing twice, which I didn't want. The downside of using the "disc x of y" feature, however, is that for double albums where the two discs have unique titles, rather than the default "disc one" and "disc two" -- say, for example, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' album Stadium Arcadium, where the discs are called "Jupiter" and "Mars" -- there is no way to label the disks with their unique titles and still keep them within one album entry. I don't want to put these titles in as a comment or anything like that either. What I'm really wondering is whether it is possible to write a script that would allow me to change where it reads "disc 1" to a unique title, at least within the album section of iTunes.

I am wondering if there is a way to apply the info in itunes to change the original file names. So that I don't have to change them all manually on my hard drive if I want them in some sort of order. Something like 'apply itunes info to original filename'. I am pretty sure it isn't possible but thought it might be worth a try.
View 6 Replies View RelatedTrying to sync my master MP3 collection (on a G4 running OSX 10.4.9) with iTunes on my new laptop (running Vista with iTunes 7.6.2.9 on an NTFS formatted HDD).
Copied the music files onto an external HDD, no problems. File names and folder structure preserved as expected.
However, when importing the music files into iTunes on the laptop, every file name longer than 35 characters is truncated to 35 characters. For instance, Rihanna - Umbrella (Jody den Broeder Destruction radio edit) becomes, in the file name, 08 Umbrella (Jody den Broeder Destru.mp3.
iTunes has only started doing this this morning. Exactly the same installation yesterday gave me no problems at all.
