I have just got an old 2004 G5 and thrown a brand new hard drive in it. When i tried to install leopard (which I'm told would be the best operating system to use) it comes up with a blank blue screen!
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy iphone 5S is stuck on a screen displaying the itunes symbol and a charging cable. I tried connecting it to itunes and updating it to the new software, and backing it up but it keeps saying unknown error 4005, Also when I first tried backing up my phone on my computer it would begin the processes then half way through it would say IPHONE has been disconnected, now it won't recognize it or anything.

It seems a whole section of my 350+ movies in my iTunes have all of a sudden stopped playing back. These are movies that played back perfectly just a few days ago but now only display a black screen with the timeline ticking away as if it was playing. All these movies were ripped from DVD's and converted using Handbrake.
Has this happened to anyone else? I think its some type of file corruption but I can't imagine what caused it. What makes it strange is that it only happened to a section of movies and not one common trait can be found among them.
I've done a bit of googling and mroogling and haven't been able to find a solution let alone another user have the same problem.
Any ideas? I have all the video_ts folders backed up so I just need to encode them again, but I would like to prevent this from happening again.
I have an iMac 27" OSX 10.7.4. My DVD Writer Stopped Working. It Can't Read or Write Any DVD or CD. Every Disc Display As a Blank. And on Windows It Doesn't Show Anything After Inserting a DVD or CD. I Tried All Types of CD and DVD like Audio, Video, Originals, Duplicates, HD , Picture, Music, MP3 and All.

Using Safari, when I go to a webpage with a .pdf URL the page is blank. I recently upgraded to Lion and purchased/installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro (I was using Acrobat 7.0 with Snow Leopard). The only way to access these types of pages is by trying to download linked file (which sometimes doesn't work).

When selecting the iTunes Artwork screensaver and running "Test", the screen is Black or Blank (no Artwork). I left it running for over and hour and the artwork never appeared. I have tons of artwork in my iTunes library and checked it after launching iTunes. The preview window for the screensaver is also blank and does *not* say "Your iTunes library does not contain any songs with artwork".
- Consolidating / Rebuilding Library from iTunes. Then trying the screensaverÂ
- Launching iTunes while holding "Option" key. Selecting the correct ~/Music/iTunes library again, then trying the screensaverÂ
- Deleting the ~/iTunes/Album Artwork folder. Launching iTunes again. Downloading some album art. Trying the screensaver.Â

I am unable to access the iTunes Store on my Macbook. I open iTunes and try to go to the iTunes Store. All that is there is a blank screen. When I try to search for something, it stays on the blank screen. I have completely updated the iTunes software and am still experiencing the same issues.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a rather annoying problem playing videos on itunes. Instead of the video, I'm getting a white screen with sound. In full screen mode, I'm getting a blank screen, also with sound but no controls pop up when I move the mouse around. I'm getting this with episodes of Lost I downloaded from the itunes store (as well as previews on the itunes store), as well as the "Jake and Amir" podcast. Curiously, if I open the Jake and Amir podcast in VLC it runs fine, but if I try the Lost episodes in VLC they come out without sound OR video. The Onion podcast, on the other hand, works just fine in itunes. This problem, I think, only goes back to when I got the latest version of Itunes.

When trying to open computer after being in sleep mode, I clicked the mouse to open the password screen, & a blank blue/black screen appeared & the mouse timer( colored circle) appeared, as if to be waiting. I had to unplug the computer to reboot it. This has happened twice in 2 days.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe screen on my macbook (07 White 13" Macbook) is only displaying the top half of the screen.The bottom half is filled with colored vertical lines.On occasion it will clear up partially but mainly stays this way. I have reset the smc and pram. I have also disassebled and reseated the connection on the back of the lcd screen only.I have not reseated the connection wher it goes inside the computer body itself.

I am having more issues with my MacBook Pro and it's really starting to irrate me, because I know if I take it to the Apple Store they aren't going to do anything about it. But anyways, lately my screen has been turning all kinds of colors. For example I'll be watching a video on YouTube and all of a sudden my screen will go solid white. And the only way to fix it is the restart by holding down the power button. The second time it happened it turn black. And each time it happens a different color appears. So far I've had white, black, blue, purple, green, and red.

Just got my new Retina MacBook Pro... when I try to get videos to go full screen in anything (youtube, cnn, etc.) only the top left 1/4th displays the video, while the rest of the screen is left blank and turns white. Using google chrome canary. What can I do to make videos go full screen?

I have Macpro 8 core, 2.8ghz/ati2600xt/6gb ram/640gb and when I play a MKV movie files in full screen (2560*1600 ON 30 " Monitor) I see movie in frames. I try on vista x64 ultimate - VLC, mediaplayer clasic - frames. OSX - VLC, QuickTime, frames. When I see the movie only in window. All is Ok.

On my Old HP laptop, the quality was far better. Is there an issue with playing DVD's, or does it have to do with the screen resolution of the MBP (1440x900)? As far as still pictures go, the screen looks great! Its just video that doesn't look the best...

The screen on my Macbook Air just recently started to periodically display flickering lines. They are multicolored and stretch across the entire screen. Hardware test was ok, and console not reported any issues. MBA is "late 2010". Warranty ended January!

The Arabesque screen saver and 1080p HD (Quicktime) are running choppy in native res.....i've applied all updates. Does anybody else have the same issue? I've googled but can find no mention of it. Any ideas of possible fixes would be very welcome.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought some -R DVDs. I want to burn a 700 MB .avi video onto a DVD so I can play it in my DVD player on my television. I put in -R disk, clicked on the DVD icon when it appeared on the computer screen, pasted in the video file I wanted to burn and it seemed to burn it but when I had finished, I put the DVD into my DVD player connected to television and when I clicked 'play' nothing played, there was just a grey screen.

I noticed that after upgrading to Lion quicktime player won't play movies full screen on my second display. Under Snow Leopard if the quicktime window was on the second display and you hit full screen it would fill the display is was on. Now the video slides to the main display and then goes full screen. There doesn't seem to be any way to change that behavior. There are no preferences. Â
The only work around is to move the menu bar in the display preferences to the second menu, so that the second monitor becomes the main one.Â

Basically i started a new project on final cut, just as always my import settings remained the same as i always use. My playback screen in the window and full screen plays back footage that does not fit the screen, i also exported a sample and the same thing happened where the video does not fit the screen.

My Mac goes to sleep even when iTunes is playing. This is pretty ludicrous. Is there anyway to prevent this other than changing my power savings settings to never let my Mac go to sleep? I don't want to do that, I want my computer to go to sleep when I am not using it. This sure seems like a bug. I am running the newest version of iTunes as well as Lion.
My current energy saver settings are:
Computer Sleep: 15 min
Display Sleep: 15 min
Put hard disks to sleep when possible - yes
Wake for network access - yes
Allow power button to put the computer to sleep - yes
Start up automatically after a power failure - no
Restart automatically if the computer freezes - no
Again, I would rather not have to change these settings in order to keep iTunes playing.

How many Mac users have suffered from the problem of small coloured squares appearing at random on the iMac desktop? They can be wiped by dragging a window over them but they will eventually reappear. I have discovered at least three other threads where this issue has been discussed but our local Apple store is claiming that Apple haven't declared it as a legacy fault. It would be interesting to hear how others have been treated when presenting Apple with this fault. At first they thought it was the GPU but they now think that it is either the logic board OR the logic board AND the GPU together!! Being charged between £480 and £650 to repair a machine that is less than 18 months old is a bit much from a company that continually boasts about the quality of its products.
