Basically i started a new project on final cut, just as always my import settings remained the same as i always use. My playback screen in the window and full screen plays back footage that does not fit the screen, i also exported a sample and the same thing happened where the video does not fit the screen.

editing with FCPX. I imported the footage through Image Capture like I did when using iMovie. I then imported the footage from my desktop into FCP. When it's just showing the thumbnails, it looks bright, like it did on camera. But when I scrub through it, or play the video, it appears very dark. Almost like it's with a filter. I tried to mess around with the buttons near the view screen, but they didn't do anything. Is this a settings problem or a FCP problem, and how do I fix it?

After recording the .mov files I imported them into FCP and edited together a sequence along with music and titling. Unfortunately in the output video the footage looks compressed and fuzzy. I have the project resolution set to an HD setting, but I'm still getting a fuzzy looking screen shot. What is the proper way to import screen captures into FCP and how do I export them without loosing resolution.

I noticed that after upgrading to Lion quicktime player won't play movies full screen on my second display. Under Snow Leopard if the quicktime window was on the second display and you hit full screen it would fill the display is was on. Now the video slides to the main display and then goes full screen. There doesn't seem to be any way to change that behavior. There are no preferences.
The only work around is to move the menu bar in the display preferences to the second menu, so that the second monitor becomes the main one.

I´m completely new to the world of plug ins etc and has shot for the first time with a Sony PMW EX1. I now need to convert the footage to import it to FCPX. (I normally shoot with a DSLR so no trouble with import)
I have downloaded the PDZK-LT2 - Camera Import Plug-In Version 1.0 for Final Cut Pro X from Sony and opened the zip filed, moved what I got (file, dmg, zip and pdf) to the Application Support File in the Library. If this isn´t what I´m supposed to do - what and where?
Should FCPX recognise it when I want to import the footage and choose the plug in instead of the normal importer, or do I need to run it through the new plug in first, then import the new files to FC?? I can´t find any beginners info on this and it´s a bit lonely here trying trial and error with a tired head. I assumed it would just show up when I try to import it.
I'm using Final Cut Pro 10.1.3 and all my footage is on my external drive. Can I use this footage from the HD WITHOUT IMPORTING to my iMac HD? If so, how?

I got a Sony HDV HC9 today and I'm trying to upload some footage into Final Cut Pro. Now every so often it's coming up with "DV device cannot be initialized". I have no clue why this is. Is it something to do with the iLink being on or off? I have the import settings as 1080i50i so that shouldn't be a problem. I think i'm just doing something silly without knowing but it's driving me mad.

I need to edit together some video footage. I was going to digitize the footage on a PC (using adobe premiere) then edit it with Final Cut Express. I haven't purchased Final Cut Express yet, I'll only purchase it if I know it will work with footage digitized from a PC, does anyone here know if it's possible to use or import windows footage in to FCE? It will be saved as DV Avi files (I guess).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded operating system to Mavericks, since then all footage I export from FCP as a QT movie has artifacts. I'm using FC 6.0.6. I have the settings optimized for download in the settings options ad data rate at 3000. I have been exporting like this for years with footage looking same as in FCP timeline. Mavericks doesn't work with older programs..I only downloaded the thing so I could run Da Vinci Light, it screwed up my mail system too.

The burner/player is a Samsung SE-506AB/TSBD (a portable burner with a USB plug.) I'm receiving an "unable to open file" from the Quicktime player app. The directory in Finder shows the BD file as AVCHD content. Do I need a separate app? If so, which is it?

Is there any way in FCPX to delay the audio playback to be in sync with an external monitor.
In FCP7 it was called "Frame delay".
I have no standalone audio delay available.
I´m cutting music videos and while the external video (BM Intensity Extreme via HDMI) is only delayed 2-3 frames, it is virtually useless...

When trying to playback the timeline, for what ever reason... crash! Doesn't happen all the time, and not for any particular reason. Also, when I tried to export the project, it got to that magic 7% and crashed. Export settings were as follows:

When I export the sequence I edited with quicktime, the playback video is very different from what I edited on the timeline. The playback has the clips with ins and outs that are way off than what I cut, and some of the clips don't show at all or have changed transitions. However when I play in the timeline in FCP, the sequence is fine, just the way I cut it.
The source of the clips was one long .mov that I cut into clips for the timeline. Everything has gone smoothly but the exported .mov is just so different. How can I get the time codes of the clips to be the same in the exported .movs? I just want the quicktime .mov to represent my edit exactly. can I play within the FCP player window and Log and Capture?

I have a iMac 27" i7 8GB Ram. I installed Windows 7 64 bit. Everything seems to work just fine, except Blu Ray playback.
I have a LG BDRW drive in a 5.25" external caddy. When I try to play a Blu Ray using the bundled CyberLink PowerDVD HD software it says I dont have a HDCP display so it asks me to run a 'BD advisor' tool for more info.
That tells me that both the ATI 4850 card AND the display are not HDCP compliant. I know they must be so whats going on!?
when I'm playing something in iTunes, in the small window centered over the Library, I now get an audio level bar display instead of what I would call the normal, default display (shows the item being played, artist, title and all that, plus a progress bar showing where you are in the piece). I can't find a thing about this online elsewhere so far, and have no idea what the iTunes nomenclature for this function or the small centered window above the Library.

In FCPX 10.1.3 I was able to set in Preferences the Playback Quality to High Quality. I just purchased FCPx 10.1.4. It has NO such High Quality Option for Playback Quality.
Now all my still clips are blurred badly. Is there an option to set a High Quality Playback Option. Or can I download 10.1.3, the level where that worked ?

I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
i m using LG22inch monitor, it is a vga cable connected to a dvi adapter connected to a dvi miniport.
initially i tried to plug it in without AC power, but ext monitor screen is black. I surfed the net for some solutions, it says tat the AC power must be plugged in for the external monitor to work.
However, when i plug in AC power, the ext monitor is still sleeping, even though i can detect it in my profile settings.. what can i do to wake it up?
I have Macpro 8 core, 2.8ghz/ati2600xt/6gb ram/640gb and when I play a MKV movie files in full screen (2560*1600 ON 30 " Monitor) I see movie in frames. I try on vista x64 ultimate - VLC, mediaplayer clasic - frames. OSX - VLC, QuickTime, frames. When I see the movie only in window. All is Ok.

On my Old HP laptop, the quality was far better. Is there an issue with playing DVD's, or does it have to do with the screen resolution of the MBP (1440x900)? As far as still pictures go, the screen looks great! Its just video that doesn't look the best...
