Does anyone know of a tried-and-true converter or cable to get a PS3 hooked up to a Mid-2010 27" iMac? I'd like 1080p video and don't need audio as I have a separate set of speakers I'm hooked up to. I know there is one solution out there but haven't heard any reviews as to it actually working or if it's 1080.

I have already tried using Qtips, other end of match sicks, cleaning the headphone jack with alcohol and a little jiggling with the other end of the plastic ballpen still ni audio from the Mac's speaker and the Built in output still active.

I was wondering how I could file share, or make the whole Hard Drive (HDD) accessible to another computer. The two other computers I have are a Toshiba Laptop with Ethernet and USB, and a iMac Intel with Firewire, USB, and Ethernet. Putting these to use along with:Three Ethernet Cables Now how do I get the whole HDD visible to the others computers (either/both) and be able to write to it? Also, I do not want to use CDs and have no CDs that came with the computers. I want to put Xubuntu on the eMac and Debian on the iMacs and erase the rest of the Hard Drives. The computers getting this are the iMac G3s and the eMac G4 in my Signature.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just ordered the 27" iMac. Trying to figure out the best way to do output to TV. There 2 approaches I would suspect.... but since the 27" display signal is 2560x1440 (HDTV can only go up to 1080p).
I don't know of any adapter or TV that can support this resolution. Will the signal come in only partially displayed

I heard 50feet is about the limit of HDMI for 1080p if you don't want to mess with amplifiers to correct signal lost.
For some reason, I can't get Logic Express 8 to output audio to my Mac's attached speakers. It outputs fine through my M-Audio interface, though, but I'd just like to listen without headphones.
My sound keeps turning off. When I check the settings, the output device switches randomly between Internal and Digital output. I have no idea where the Digitial Output is coming from and this started about a month again. It switches randomly and then I loose all sound for a few seconds. Sometimes it happens once then stops for a few days, other times it switches back and forth for 5 min. No idea!!!

I play movies stored on my iMac through my speaker system and HDTV using a Mini Display to HDMI cable plugged into my reciever. I'm currently piecing together a 5.1 seperates system but currently only have the front left, front right and centre speakers (3.0). I've played around to try and get the iMac to output though all three speakers but the audio only comes through the left and right channels and ignores the centre speaker completely. Even when I set the output in the 'Audio MIDI Setup' to 5.1 it still doesn't recognise a centre channel.Stereo output is fine but it would be nice to get the centre speaker in use rather than just sitting there in silence.

My internal speakers work fine. When I plug in headphones, the left side has normal audio for about one second, then becomes barely audible. The right side is barely audible all the time. If I unplug them, and re-plug them, the same exact thing happens. Everything looks good in the sound properties page. I know the headphones work because I tried them in another device.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can feed sounds into my iMac with line input but no sound comes out vis internal speakers. I can record the input sound using Amadeus and play through gives me sound output. When not using Amadeus although input is set to line in and output to internal speakers no sound comes out. There appears to be some internal disconnection between input and output.

I use an external monitor with my macbook, it's a couple of years old 17" Sony TFT. I connect it to the macbook through a DVI cable into the adaptor, into the mini DVI port on the mac. About 90% of the time I do this, the second display shows the correct graphics but is tinted fluorescent green, however if I play aorund enough with the connection, it goes back to full colours. Is this something a genius could fix, or do you have any recommendations about what to do?

I have an old G4 iMac , the lamp, with a 700 mhz processor and a 15" screen. My wife was using it but now we have traded.
My question is: can I output through the mini video output to my 19" monitor? Would it extend the desktop?
My IMac G5 won't recognize any audio output.
When trying to change the volume, a crossed circle appears under the volume bar.
When trying to set the audio output in system preferences, says there's no audio output.
When trying to set de midi audio, the option buttons are disabled (light gray).
When trying to open garage band, int says "Selected Driver not found.(-10202)" even with the headphones plugged doesn't find the audio input.
But the speakers are ok, they play the start sound when turning on the computer.
Have read all the threads I can find and tried all the fixes, with no joy. Last posts were end of last year, '11. Anyone got any more info since then?

I just got this new iMac that I got used and the sound on the computer does not seem to be working, I have tried doing what the computer tells me and going into System Preferences and selecting the sound option, but the sound seems to have been permanently disabled and shows that there are no output or input devices available, when clearly the monitor has speakers. whats more, is that the volume icon does not show up in the menu bar even when I select that I want it in the menu bar.

I'm looking to run video out to two TVs, but it's over a decent distance, so I'm worried that using an HDMI splitter would cut the signal and suffer quality loss. I was wondering if both mini DisplayPorts can be linked to output the same signal at the same time, so that both TVs can show the same thing but each signal is at full force.

But at the same time I have connected a 3,5 minijack from the computer to the RCA audio in of the TV but I dont get sound. I have checked the config of the TV and I dont find any place to activate it. Then, talking about the screen. I have few questions.
How can I stop the screen on the iMac and work only with the HDTV?
How can I config that the windows on the tv have bigger letters while they keep on the same way on the i Mac's screen?
The tv is kind of far away and is difficult to see the letters.

I searched the forums many times looking for answers and the general consensus was to buy the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid. That's exactly what I did and was extremely disappointed with the quality. In the Elgato preferences, the highest live quality setting available is 720x480, which obviously looks awful when viewing fullscreen.To summarize, I'm looking for a piece of equipment that will allow me to: 1) need to be able to watch live Cable TV and 2) play my Wii on the new 27" iMac. The Hybrid does both but the quality is terrible

Just got my new iMac and I'd love to be able to connect it to my stereo system. I tried a simple 1/8" to RCA cable to connect it, but its a bit quiet and very staticy. I see that the line out jack is also a digital out jack, but I'm a bit confusde as to what kind of cable I actually require here. My stereo has a coaxial digital input I can utilize, but the iMac doesn't seem like it would have the same type of connector, even if is a digital output.
