I am wanting to hook my iMac G5 (iSight) to my 42" plasma screen, courtesy of the Mini-DVI adapter. I am aware of what cable I need to get (DVI-D, if I recall correctly), I am simply concerned with the achievable resolution.
If any of you have hooked up your iMacs in this way, could you inform me what resolutions you all have been able to achieve? My plaz can display up to 1080i.
i have a 1.5 ghz mac mini from back in the days and was just wondering if anybody knew the max output resolution?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a 37" LG LC2D panel and a G5 PowerMac with dual DVI outputs. I just picked up a DVI->HDMI cable, expecting it output to a resolution of 1366*768. However, the only options I have are: 1024*768, 1280*720, and 1920*540 (which doesn't work). Is it not possible for the Mac to output to a 1366*768 resolution on the 256MB GeForce 6600 PCI Express? If not, what are my upgrade options?
when i plug in the converter, the mac recognizes it and readjusts the screen
on the tv, (my older read projection) ,all i see is grey squiggly lines, not snow.. the picture is there but it is not converted properly. i cant see anything. i press command f1 and something usually happens and goes back to the grey shit.
i try it on my hd tv, and it just says /'no signal/', so i am assuming that the picture isnt getting converted properly. could it be my converter, or is it something in the output setting or the mini divi port? the converter i got was one from best buy- dynex, and it has a mini dvi male, and a female composite and s-video.
I'm a new mac user. Just bought a Mac mini with Mac OS X Lion (10.7.4). I was messing around with the resolutions on the display settings. I set the resolution back to the 1080p where it was when I first started messing with it. Now the color is off, the screen is not how it was before I started tampering with resolution settings. I've tried recalibrating the color but its still off. When I start my mac up in Safe Boot the windows and color look normal as if I changed nothing.

Alright so I go the new 21.5 inch and love it but I was wondering if the Mini-Display Port does audio for the HDMI output. Because if it did, that would be wonderful.

My question is: can I output through the mini video output to my 19" monitor? Would it extend the desktop?
what i intend to do is have my imac g5 and my peecee (pc ) on the same desk, but of course i cannot use the imac display, so i will use an extra display and use a KVM switch, my question is; Will the extra screen need to be the same resolution as the imac using ssd?

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe old Mini worked fine with my Westinghouse 24" LCD monitor (HDMI input -connected to Mini via DVI->HDMI cable).The new Mini Server 2010 has HDMI out, so I used a straight-through HDMI cable. The display looks terrible! All of the fonts appear to have a 'shadow' next to them - almost like an old analog VGA with 'interference'.Thinking it could be the cable, I went back to my old Mini's DVI->HDMI cable (and used the new Mini's HDMI->DVI adapter to connect to it). Same results.The Westinghouse monitor's native resolution is 1920x1200. The Mac says that it's configured for 1920x1200.
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I plugged-in my MacBook Pro (from DVI) into my Westinghouse 32" 720p LCD TV (into HDMI) which has a native resolution of 1366 x 768.
When I open-up System Preferences > Display I get a window on my MBP and one on the TV. 1366 x 768 isn't listed in the available resolutions. Some of the ones listed show "Interlaced" between parenthesis. If I click on the highest resolution setting available 1920 x 1080, the image flickers a bit and it is visible.
All resolution settings don't fit screen and advised settings bigger than viewable screen. Have to move mouse around screen to view things.

Macbook Pro Sound has suddenly stopped working
The Sound Settings show no output device. When trying to adjust the sound a circle with a line through it appears. Cannot run the volume adjusted up or down either. Also the sound does not work with a headset either. Have tried PRAM and SMC rest as well as plugging and unplugging headset. Running 10.9.3. Was running fine yesterday - feels like it may be hardware problem?
I'm using a Mac Mini (running 10.3.8) connected to an old View Sonic E95 monitor. No problems except that every time I leave the computer for a while it goes to sleep and "forgets" what display it is connected to. When I hit a key or whatever to reawaken it, the display resolution has been re-set to "VGA 800x600" and I have to tell it to "Detect Display" again..
Any clues? I have looked on the forums and Google with no success .
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I have got the cables and connectors that I need to connect my mbp to my tv via the tv's hdmi port. My question is what settings should the mbp screen resolution be set to in order to get the best picture quality / size when playing itunes tv shows? Also what setting should the tv be on as you have the option of widescreen. 4:3, smart etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have a MBP1, 1 running 10.6.4 on an external monitor with the ideal resolution at 1920x1200. From time to time, when I wake my MBP from sleep through external keyboard/mouse to have it run solely on the external monitor, it sets the display at 1600x1200, so everything seems squished vertically. After a fresh reformat, the problem persists, though it is less frequent. It's just a minor annoyance that I can't seem to find a solution to fix permanently. I usually have to go to safe mode and adjust the resolution back to normal. Alternatively, only sometimes if I put it back to sleep and wake it up again with the external keyboard, it will detect the right settings.

I also began to smell something burning from the rear ventilation ports. Now when I press the power button, it lights up for a brief moment then the burning smell returns.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have currently acquired a few old Macs. I have got an iMac G3 SE with a slot loading drive. The computer is fine all barr the slot load drive - it has died. I have also got a PPC Mac Mini with a suggested logic board failure.
Does anybody think there is a chance i could replace the broken slot load drive in the iMac with the working one from the mac mini? i don't want to start opening the iMac up if someone already knows theres no chance it would work.
I am new to this forums and want to know if my dvd mini discs will fit into the dvr drive on an iMac. I also have an older Powerbook and would also like to know if the mini discs will fit also. I haven't tried this yet because I don't want to loose the discs or ruin my drives. I just bought a used iMac 20" widescreen and wanted to just put my mini discs from my camcorder into it without having to plug the unit in via hard wire.

I've got a Mac Mini at home, but I'm at work now and just have a quick question. I've noticed on the Apple marketing blurb that the Mini audio output will do Line Out as well as headphones. Do you have to switch the output over in Audio/MIDI setup or something?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy TV doesn't have DVI or VGA inputs, so I can only use component video input to plug my mac mini(mid 2007).
But I have serious problems with it. I have bought a Dvi to component video cable on eBay but it doesn't work with mac mini(it works with old PC).
i'm using my mac mini with the ACD 24" and i get the sound from the screen because it is "very slightly bettter" than the speaker of the mac mini (even if both are quite disappointing)
when i connected external speakers on the jack of the mini, it is simply impossible even with the soft soundsource to switch audio outputs on the fly
external speakers seem to have the priority over other outputs
is there a way to get through it ?
I entered a resolution that didn't work with my TV and now I can not see my mini display. How can I reset my resolution settings from a reboot?
