View 2 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago my MacBook Air suddenly would not play any audio. It would happne off and on. Usually the sound would come back after restarting. Now, though, I can't seem to get my audio to come back at all, no matter what I do. Here are a few screenshots to give you an idea of what's going on: I've restarted. I cleared permissions with Onyx. I verified and repaired disk permissions with Disk Utitlity. Still no audio.

This just happened to me the other day, I plugged a pair of apple headphones in used them and then unplugged them. The next day I noticed that I was not getting any sound from my macbook air, no startup sound, no OS sounds, and even the headphones are not detected when plugged in. I've tried all the tricks and so far nothing.
Of course my mac is just out of warranty at the end of March and I'm going to imagine this is a small fortune to get fixed. Since last time I took it in while it was in warranty they wanted 900 bucks to replace my HDD
Anyone else run across this, I'm thinking of just throwing it on craiglist or ebay for like 900 bucks as is and buying a normal laptop
Hey, my macbook was getting rather slow so I decided to do a clean install of Leopard, but now I have absolutely no sound whatsoever apart from the startup chime! The volume keys now don't control volume and instead do expose and dashboard.
I did however install it with a Leopard disk that was from a shop and not one of the grey ones that came with the computer, is that the problem? If so how can I fix it?
My MacbookPro sound suddenly stopped working. It was working fine yesterday, but rght after I unplugged the headset, I don't have any sound anymore. I do not have any red light on the audio jack. I do not have any internal and output devices found under the System Preferences. I already tried resetting the PRAM and NVRAM, SMC and nothing works! I have the latest verion 10.7.4, Core i7.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy sound has completely quit working. In the sound system prefs I get a massage saying "No output devices found". If I press the volums button keys the onscreen display comes up but has a 'no access' icon on it (a circle with a line through it). The icon in the toolbar has also vanished and there's just a blank space in its place.
Oddly whatever happened also seems to have effected my ability to view Flash movies -*the will play for a few seconds an then pause *they don't stutter they just pause. I think that whatever the issue is it was caused by a force shut down. All my applications were hanging so I had to press down the power button for a few seconds. Since then nothing!
This also effects the start-up sound which I don't get and all users of the machine are the same so it's not a case of deleting users prefs. So far I reinstalled the latest system using combo updater, run disk utility to repair disk/privileges (from start up disk) and zapped the PRAM.
All of the sudden the sound on my MacBook is no longer working. When I look at System Preferences>Sound>Output it says there are no devices found, even when I plug in external speakers.

Just today I have installed an application which was to do with sound switching , called "soundflower" once iv installed and run it there was an option "create multiple sound switch" did chose and start to creating a multiple, as soon as it started my sound card panel display as "no sound card founded" and my sound icon on the top bar turned to light gray.
Double click on that and when it opens you will see your hard drive (usually Macintosh HD) on the left. Highlight your hard drive and click on Verify Disk on the far right. If that is OK click on Repair Permissions on the left. If Verify Disk is not OK try to Repair. If Repair is successful then Repair Permissions if it is not successful let me know. But problem still remains.

I had a first gen aluminum 13" Macbook that I spilled beer on. It was basically a write-off, but fortunately the HD was not damaged.I just got my 13" Macbook Pro today, and replaced the new HD with my old one. Everything is working fine, except that there is no sound.When I go to System->Sound I see "No Output devices found", and when I press the sound buttons on the keyboard, the speaker is grayed out.I know this is not a Hardware issue for a couple reasons. First, it properly 'chimes' on startup. Second, I did try running the computer with the new hard drive, and during the sound was working properly, volume adjustment buttons working, etc.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI just got this new iMac that I got used and the sound on the computer does not seem to be working, I have tried doing what the computer tells me and going into System Preferences and selecting the sound option, but the sound seems to have been permanently disabled and shows that there are no output or input devices available, when clearly the monitor has speakers. whats more, is that the volume icon does not show up in the menu bar even when I select that I want it in the menu bar.

My sound output preference is set to mute and is highlighted in light gray so that the preference can't be changed. Also, simultaneously, the sound control in the toolbar is gone and is replaced with an eject symbol that responds "SuperDrive F12" when clicked on.

I was using it for a long time StartupSoundPrefPane11b3 with no problems, but this week I had to erase my hd and restore the disk from time machine. Since then I can't use anymore your program, I checked the boxes "Turn on startup volume control" and "Mute" and turn on the lock. After turn off and on again I get the startup sound. I went to system preferences, and "Startup Sound" program but the "Mute" checkbox is not active anymore. I'm running on a Mid 2007 iMac with 10.7.3 Lion software.

I picked up a really cool wireless USB speaker set and want to use it with my current gen iMac running Snow Leopard. Problem is that as far as I can tell, and I've done some searching, that it's either the USB audio, or my internal iMac speakers, one or the other - not both.

Can't use sound - No device found seys in Sound prefereces pane
So I started up my macbook this morning and have been using it for awhile when I went to go play some music and can't get any sound. When I hit the volume buttons it shows a shadow of the speaker logo and a circle with a line through it under the volume bar. I have tried a restart and also went into sound controls, where it says "The device has no output devices" . What can I do/what's going on?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI was with sounds problems using OS 10.2 and I decided to format my disk and make a clean install. After installing 10.2, my sound was working well. I upgraded to 10.2.1 and in the following restart when I tried to use iTunes, no sound at all. When I hit play not even the cursor moves; nothing happens. I opened the Sound control panel, and in the Outpu tab there's a message saying:
" no output devices were found"
I cannot figure out what's happening. My computer sound is OK; everything works fine when I restart using OS 9.2.2.
I have multiple displays connected via the HDMI port and one to the mini port as well and a theater sound system attached to the headphone jack. How do you turn on sound output to both HDMI and headphone jack. If the headphone jack is plugged in, it always defaults to that device. I am unable to hear the audio at the remote displays without removing the headphone jack.

I was in Audio MIDI Setup and I clicked one of the checkboxes to add a device to something or something like that and all the devices vanished from the list and sound stopped working. After closing Audio MIDI Setup I am unable to open it again, even after restarting and getting all the updates. Skype now freezes and doesn't load. Sound preferences also have trouble and freeze up if I try to load them. I would really like to have sound from my computer again!

i'm a HUGE gamer, so the first thing I did once I loaded this new computer up was install my copy of Windows Vista on it using Boot Camp Assistant. The installation went completely smoothly, so I then proceeded to install the Boot Camp Drivers onto my new and fresh and clean Windows Installation.
I restarted the computer and everything seemed to be in working order...but there are two relatively MAJOR problems:
One, the one that is the most pressing, is the sound. When I started up after installing all of the boot camp drivers, I couldn't get a single audio device to get recognized by my Vista Home Premium installation. I tried disabling and re-disabling other drivers in the Device Manager, and when I try to download new drivers for the one audio device that has an error sign next to it, Vista claims that it is already updated to the latest drivers, so it will not install new ones. I even went onto cirrus' website to download their official drivers, and the same thing happened.
I have an iMac at home. I have two airport express devices with hifi systems connected. I use iTunes to play music, podcasts,radio, .. on the different hifi systems dependent on where I am in the appartment.When using the remote control on the iMac it seems to me that it isn't possible to select the wireless devices for sound output.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Brother MFC-9340CDW WIFI printer which my iMac says it can't find sometimes when I want to print. I think I have narrowed the problem down to when my MacBook Air is on at the same time and using WIFI on the same network If I turn off WIFI on the MacBook I can print from my IMac. I am not sure if it is a router problem or what but we use the iMac and MacBook Air at the same time quite often. Checked on the Brother website - nothing.Â

I like to use my iMac 24" at odd times and wish to mute the startup chime (or at least make it quieter) so I won't wake up my spouse. Apple Tech support helped me do that when I had 10.5.8 but they deleted several cache files buried deep within the OS. My tech support has expired and I wonder if any of you can help?

I just ordered the 27" iMac. Trying to figure out the best way to do output to TV. There 2 approaches I would suspect.... but since the 27" display signal is 2560x1440 (HDTV can only go up to 1080p).
I don't know of any adapter or TV that can support this resolution. Will the signal come in only partially displayed
