I bought it on black friday at an Apple retail store. And the second day I bought it, under the sunlight, I can see a slight.. mark across from the left all the way to the right on the bottom of the iMac. Is this part of the design?

Glass over hangs on left and is in a bit on right side on my new 27" i5. So is this normal? Also I think my screen is a little yellow bottom right.

I have only recently started noticing this, it is mostly visible on the white screen at boot up but just faintly noticed it now against my background.
It is a fading black line going down the left hand side of the screen, it starts at the top kind of fades in the middle then comes out again.
I honestly have no idea what this is, i will try catch a picture on my phone soon and post it up.

UPDATE: Sometimes the line is clear, sometimes it is faint and even sometimes it isn't even there!
Is it possible to have more than 1 dock. I tried to search for an app to do this but could not find any. I want to have one dock on the bottom, and one on the left, both for different types of apps.

Running OS X 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro that's roughly 2 years old (maybe a little more). About a week ago I noticed that I was unable to copy/paste/undo/cut. Thought it was a total command key failure at first but other shortcut functionality is intact (cmd+t/cmd+w etc). So I've isolated the problem to the left cmd key and the bottom row of my keyboard. Separately they work just fine, but they refuse to work together.

The Bottom panel, on the left side, under the wasd keys, for example, if I press under there, it makes a clicky noise, like the panel is loose. Does anyone else have this? View 4 Replies View RelatedThis might be a little hard to explain, but will be easier if you have an MBP to do this exercise. My touchpad/trackpad, is fine, except for that when tapped in the lower left quadrant (where you normally click) it makes a click noise (from the pad itself) tapping anywhere else yields no sound. I pushed hard on the pad, and kinda pressured it in every which way, and every time I do, the clicking stops for about a minute or so.

Some weeks ago I dropped my MacBook Air (well, actually I couldn�t do anything, my bag was broken so it dropped) and got quite a noticeable dent in the bottom left corner on the screen (outside, you can see the dent while closed). I tried to live with it but with such an expensive machine I can barely do that. So I tried to find a replacement part, the display housing. But - I can�t. I can find replacement LCD displays, replacement housings f�r MacBooks, for MacBook Pros - but NOTHING like that for the Air. Seems like this is Murphys law, eh? This really sucks.

I think it may of involved the ~ key. Does anyone know what it might be as it would be very useful? Last week she managed to move the dock to the left of the screen instead of the bottom with what looked like a single keystroke. However there may of been some kind of trackpad swipe involved.

I have done some research and they seem to be "dead pixels" They're really small but for the price I payed i didnt expect any problems. What are some suggestions to get rid of them or if i should contact tech support? Here are two pictures of the dots: They kinda change colour when i move my head around.. I import clips from a flash memory drive (the one attached to Sony NX5U camera). The drive is connected with USB cable. All clips imported are fine except one. The problematic one is in the AVCHD category in the browser and has a little camera icon on the bottom left of it's thumbnail. I cannot share the project containing that clip (there is a message that says:''this Item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera''). What does that icon mean and how do I import the clip properly ? I tried importing the clip again and it does the same thing... Â

My OS is 10.9.3 and I've only had it for a month or so. Â
I'll be on Firefox or the desktop and without touching the mouse or keyboard or anything 'var' appears highlighted in yellow at the bottom left corner of my screen and a speech bubble will define it. The definition matches the one for 'var' in the built-in dictionary but I very rarely use it and have not had it open while this has happened.Â
It happens about once a week and the word defined has been different 1 or 2 times but mostly its just 'var'. The Macbook also freezes occasionally or has periods of very slow loading; something which never happened with my old Mac White. Do I have a virus or something?
Is it just me or the macbook air has a problem with backlight? it's very very bright compare to my mbp 13.3 but it seems like the left part of the screen receive a lot more light than the bottom right of the screen. I notice that on the mbp pro but its worse on the mba. I have a rev2 1.86 with a 9400. In this review (in spanish) they check the brightness levels on the screen, and there is a difference between center and bottom right corner (340cd/m2 vs 215cd/m2)

View 12 Replies View RelatedI got a new MBP awhile ago to replace my old MB, and am using the same HD for Time Machine backups. For awhile I wanted to keep the old backups around, but now that I'm fine without them, they're just taking up space, and they're not automatically deleting as the HD fills up, it seems that it only deletes backups of the computer that it's backing up when it needs the space. I know usually deleting Time Machine backups through the Finder is a really bad idea, but since I don't have the old MB to do it through the Time Machine interface any more, it's the only way. Would I be OK to do it that way, since I want to delete all the backups from that Mac? Or would I risk screwing up the backups of my MBP?

I recently deleted my timemachine plist and reformatted my external oak to start time machine fresh. Is this a difference between metric an binary counting of bytes?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to get a take on this. I recently sold my Macbook and still have a 2.66ghz iMac at home. I was going to pull the trigger on a new shiny MBP than I started doing some checking the the 330M I wish it were a better card.
So I got the idea to sell my iMac as well and get the iMac i7 and a low end MBP 13. Now this is what I would use it for. I need a portable for presentations, I do light photoshop and web work, entering into video FCP etc. I also bootcamp for bits of gaming (L4D, Dragon Age) and eyeing SC2 later on. With this in mind there are 3 issues.

I took my iMac panel off to clean and when I put it back I noticed as you run your finger from the bottom of the panel left to right or right to left, the glass begins to get thicker and eventually overlap just barely the metal in the middle. I can't remember if it was like this or not before, so I am wondering is this bent? And if so what should I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo after giving up the new iMacs after two replacements about six months ago for yellow screens......I thought I would try again.
The good news is that the white is very uniform with no yellowing. The bad news is that it has this dark band across the bottom of the screen just above the dock.
So I am basically in the same spot I was six months ago. Replace the unit for a new one, replace the screen, or just live with it. Maybe I am being too anal but for $2,500, I shouldn't have to live with anything but a perfect screen.
"Jack" when on "Jill's" computer without her knowing and altered her desktop "organizing" system. Now, some of the icons/files show the Preview paper icon with the arrow (from the attached image) and won't open at all.

I just received my new IMac and was starting to do some typing for a school project when I noticed that the keyboard bottom stand was uneven so whenever I type it bounces much like a chair with uneven legs. I was wondering what to do because now I have to stick a credit card underneath it to keep it from moving.
