ok the issue is that I'm constantly hearing the ticking or clicking sound from my mac mini. Could any tell me what could be making those sound?
IMac :: Clicking Sound Coming Out After Every 10 Seconds
Mar 23, 2010Every 10 seconds there is a clicking sound coming out of the iMac i5, I have a CD loaded at the moment and a USB Stick behind. This is Standby and it should be absolutely quite. I am typing this on my PC next to it and hear the click every 10-20 seconds. Very annoying and an absolute Dealbreaker. This is a 2000 USD machine!

Dec 5, 2014I bought my iMac last month (Late-2013 model) and notice some low/small "tick-ing" sound came out from the bottom section of my iMac i guess. I often hear that when there's no other sounds in my room. It happened whenever i scrolling down web page on Safari or when doing some graphical process on Photoshop, scrolling Dashboard and other graphical-related task.

IMac :: 27" I7 Clicking Sound (Lower Left)
Nov 19, 2010The hits just keep on coming with this thing First, it arrived with a massive glob of dust trapped between the backlight and LCD panel (still need to take to Genius Bar), then the PSU buzzing started and now it's making a random clicking/popping sound from the lower left. Its a very quiet sound but its noticeable in a quiet room. It appears to be random, but I can reproduce it by opening iTunes, playing a few seconds of a song, waiting at least 10 seconds in silence, then starting another song. *pop* and the song begins. This happens in QuickTime as well. What is going on here? I'm so exasperated right now, I wish Apple would just replace my troubled machine with a new one.

Nov 13, 2009I am a proud owner of an Apple Macbook Pro 15 inch since Feb 2009. I am a converted user from PC to MAC and preach the benefits of Apple OS X et al to colleagues, friends and family. This morning I noticed some slight peeling on the bottom right side (near trackpad) of my Macbook Pro. At first I did not realise what it was, I thought it might be some surface marking / dust. I wiped the area with a dry cloth at which point a small part of the surface came away. Here is a link showing images that I have just taken. MacBook :: Slight Clicking Sounds Coming From Side
Oct 7, 2009I bought this computer (Macbook Aluminum 2.4 GHz - currently running Snow Leopard) last October - my warranty ends Oct. 16th. Anyways, I put a disc in the drive earlier today, and the computer took it right away. That was unusual because half the time it doesn't wanna take the disc (someone at the genius bar assured me all of these Aluminum Macbooks are this way). So continuing with my story, I took the disc out when I was done and I heard slight clicking noises coming from the side where you put discs in. I closed the computer because I thought it would stop it, reopened it, and it was still doing it. So then I restarted it, and I didn't hear it. Now I'm hearing it every so often.

Aug 22, 2014I bought a 13" MBPr starting February, yesterday (Thursday 21) it started making a "clicking" noise on the right side of the body it's periodic and constant it is only hearable when the lid is open and the computer is turned on, it seems to be emitted from below the right side of keyboard the noise is quite loud even with other sounds in the room.
I haven't tried any fixes as it seems to be hardware issue.

Jun 20, 2010This might be a little hard to explain, but will be easier if you have an MBP to do this exercise. My touchpad/trackpad, is fine, except for that when tapped in the lower left quadrant (where you normally click) it makes a click noise (from the pad itself) tapping anywhere else yields no sound. I pushed hard on the pad, and kinda pressured it in every which way, and every time I do, the clicking stops for about a minute or so.

Apr 18, 2010Supposedly, the new 27" iMac supports 2 side-by-side safari windows perfectly. However, on mine, they overlap by about 3 inches and if I drag the 2nd window to the right, it does not entirely fit without adjusting the width of one or both windows.
Is there a way I can optimize Safari (or the iMac display settings) for the 27" iMac display so that by default each window takes up exactly 50% of the screen width and a new window will sit perfectly side by side?

Dec 12, 2008My niece was poking away at my MacBook and somehow brought up System Preferences by clicking some combination in the bottom left of the keyboard. I think it may of involved the ~ key. Does anyone know what it might be as it would be very useful? Last week she managed to move the dock to the left of the screen instead of the bottom with what looked like a single keystroke. Jun 1, 2014I have a MBP 15" mid-2010 which worked perfectly until two weeks ago:
From time to time a kinda loud crackling sound happens on the right side of the laptop which freezes and shutdown.
I had similar issue on my Bootcamp partition with Win 7, some weird repeated noise then a shutdown.
I can't use AHT diagnostic as it says it is not available on my computer when I hit ALT + D when I reboot.

Mac Pro :: Low Clicking Sound After Warming?
May 16, 2007when I start my mac pro, after a certain time passes there is a very low pitc clicking noise starts. It could not be heard if the ambient noise is loud, only when it is silent in the room. I opened the case, it comes from top of the hard disk bay under the dvd drive bay. I switched the har disk to another bay to see if it comes from the hard disk but no, its not the hard disk..
its not the front big fan unit as well .. where else I should check ? Does anybody have same kind of noise ?
Mac Mini :: Clicking Sound In 10.7.4?
May 25, 2012I use to hear only a fan that's only if I put my ear right next to the fan in other words it was silent, but for some reason when I updated to 10.7.4 I can hear this clicking sound that is coming from the Mac I did not have this ploblem in previous version (10.7.3 &10.7.2) this started happening exactly when it finished updating.
Oh and the Mac Mini is new I only use it for basic task (email & surfing the web) and I updated the exact same day when 10.7.4 was released.

Aug 14, 2009Everything seems to be working well except there is no sound from speakers on the Vista side. Still OK on Mac (of course).
I have iMac 3.06gHz
Checked that sound is not muted etc.
It does seem to have two volume controls (Vista) in the dock? One Realtek and one Mixer. Neither are muted. Device Manager says all is ok and running latest software.
One other small matter is that I can't seem to load a network adapter. It finds new hardware everytime I open but can't find any software and as I don't know what I'm looking for I am sort of stuck.

Oct 7, 2009i reinstalled snow leopard and i went to pick my mbp off my desk with the screen open .. and when i picked up pretty quick i heard this sound coming from the left side of the keyboard .. it was really weird .. and i can recreate it everytime if i lift it fast with the screen open .. if i do it slowly no sound i tried this on my mother's 15 mbp and no sound at all .. anyone else get this on a 17inch mbp?

It was a light clicking sound, and it happened on and off. However, it was bothering me so I went to best buy (where I bought my macbook) and told them about it; they said they couldn't do anything for me because it probably wasn't my hard drive. They told me to wait until my computer slows down and then bring it in. But today the sound got worse, it sounds like white noise from the tv or some static from a really bad connection.It usually happens when I turn it on and while I'm using it. Some of my friends think it's over-heating but I doubt that's the case?
