Is it possible to have more than 1 dock. I tried to search for an app to do this but could not find any. I want to have one dock on the bottom, and one on the left, both for different types of apps.

I have seen some desktops with their bottom dock but in the style of the left dock. I'm desperately looking for the left hand style dock on the bottom. I have CandyBar but it is only the trial.

Running OS X 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro that's roughly 2 years old (maybe a little more). About a week ago I noticed that I was unable to copy/paste/undo/cut. Thought it was a total command key failure at first but other shortcut functionality is intact (cmd+t/cmd+w etc). So I've isolated the problem to the left cmd key and the bottom row of my keyboard. Separately they work just fine, but they refuse to work together.

The Bottom panel, on the left side, under the wasd keys, for example, if I press under there, it makes a clicky noise, like the panel is loose. Does anyone else have this? View 4 Replies View RelatedThis might be a little hard to explain, but will be easier if you have an MBP to do this exercise. My touchpad/trackpad, is fine, except for that when tapped in the lower left quadrant (where you normally click) it makes a click noise (from the pad itself) tapping anywhere else yields no sound. I pushed hard on the pad, and kinda pressured it in every which way, and every time I do, the clicking stops for about a minute or so.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSome weeks ago I dropped my MacBook Air (well, actually I couldn�t do anything, my bag was broken so it dropped) and got quite a noticeable dent in the bottom left corner on the screen (outside, you can see the dent while closed). I tried to live with it but with such an expensive machine I can barely do that. So I tried to find a replacement part, the display housing. But - I can�t. I can find replacement LCD displays, replacement housings f�r MacBooks, for MacBook Pros - but NOTHING like that for the Air. Seems like this is Murphys law, eh? This really sucks.

I think it may of involved the ~ key. Does anyone know what it might be as it would be very useful? Last week she managed to move the dock to the left of the screen instead of the bottom with what looked like a single keystroke. However there may of been some kind of trackpad swipe involved.

I have done some research and they seem to be "dead pixels" They're really small but for the price I payed i didnt expect any problems. What are some suggestions to get rid of them or if i should contact tech support? Here are two pictures of the dots: They kinda change colour when i move my head around.. Not sure if theyre dead pixels or not.

I import clips from a flash memory drive (the one attached to Sony NX5U camera). The drive is connected with USB cable. All clips imported are fine except one. The problematic one is in the AVCHD category in the browser and has a little camera icon on the bottom left of it's thumbnail. I cannot share the project containing that clip (there is a message that says:''this Item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera''). What does that icon mean and how do I import the clip properly ? I tried importing the clip again and it does the same thing... Â

My OS is 10.9.3 and I've only had it for a month or so. Â
I'll be on Firefox or the desktop and without touching the mouse or keyboard or anything 'var' appears highlighted in yellow at the bottom left corner of my screen and a speech bubble will define it. The definition matches the one for 'var' in the built-in dictionary but I very rarely use it and have not had it open while this has happened.Â
It happens about once a week and the word defined has been different 1 or 2 times but mostly its just 'var'. The Macbook also freezes occasionally or has periods of very slow loading; something which never happened with my old Mac White. Do I have a virus or something?
I don't know how to really explain this but the Leopard 3D dock when in 3D mode has an annoying white bar at the bottom between the edge of the screen and the start of the glowing status indicators.
How do I get rid of this?
Anybody want with the dev build want to see if the plist trick to get the 2D/transparent Dock on the bottom still works? I tried playing with my Dock tonight, and realized I can't stand it on the side or as the mirror/shelf version. If you have SL, please type the following into terminal, and see if it still works:
defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -bool 'TRUE'
killall Dock
You can undo it like so if you don't like it:
defaults delete com.apple.dock no-glass
killall Dock
If it would be possible to have the dock span all the way across the screen (like how Windows 7 does).
I have a MacBook Pro mid 2010 os x 10.7.5 8 gigs memory. When I am on a website, the dock is hidden on the bottom of the screen. Cannot get it to come up. I also cannot x out of a website, because the x is gone! I have to restart the computer to be able to get to a new screen. I have checked the settings on the dock, and I have them right.Â

But it seems this or hiding it will be the only way to go with the new small air. The thing that I find very badly thought out in apple's implementation is that the furthest left icon on the dock (the finder one) becomes the top on when you put it on the left or right and there's no option to reverse the this. Now when you are switching between windows it takes much more time to travel with your mouth near the top and left or right than it would near the bottom for obvious usability reasons. So you end up having the closest to you those icons (minimized ones, stacks) that you will use less often to switch from one to the other, and the ones you will use more often such as the first few ones the furthest up. I can't see how people can work with this kind of set up and I am always amazed how some people manage to keep their dock on the left or right...

I plugged the Mini in, some weird resolution came up. 1680x1050 didn't show up in "Displays". I downloaded SwitchResX, and set it to 1680x1050 at 60Hz.The resolution is now set, but the monitor is very blurry, and the dock extends beyond the bottom of the screen.I really want to get this working. I'm not quite sure how SwitchResX works so could anybody give me a hand?

Is it just me or the macbook air has a problem with backlight? it's very very bright compare to my mbp 13.3 but it seems like the left part of the screen receive a lot more light than the bottom right of the screen. I notice that on the mbp pro but its worse on the mba. I have a rev2 1.86 with a 9400. In this review (in spanish) they check the brightness levels on the screen, and there is a difference between center and bottom right corner (340cd/m2 vs 215cd/m2)
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on my Powerbook G4 (1.5 GHz) 15" a little Earth icon flashes about 15x. Then a small question mark flashes followed by the Mac smiley face icon. They alternate flashing about a dozen times or so. My computer then goes to the grey-on-grey Apple logo screen, then to the password login screen. I enter password and successfully get to my desktop, HOWEVER:
(1)the font on my menu bar seems to have changed. No big deal?
(2)The menu bar is incomplete as I'm missing my internet signal indicator
(3)My dock is completely gone. Cannot find it anywhere.
(4)I have desktop icons but cannot left click on any of them. When I do I just get a long blank white colored rectangle. When I roll cursor over it it turns blue. Still blank though!
(5)This is the same with the menu bar. When I click on anything (Finder, File, Edit, View, etc) the drop down menu is just blank empty space
I've been trying to change my docks theme for the past few days but have been unable. I've used Candybar, Dock Library etc. and none of them seem to work. I'm really annoyed because it used to work for me. Any suggestions on how I can remedy this problem?
View 7 Replies View RelatedToday the OS X dock on my late '08 MacBook Pro 15" stop working like normal. It used to be, when an App was open, the icon would appear in the dock with a sort of highlight.
Now, the apps run fine but no longer appear in the dock. If I minimize it, it does show as a running app in the left hand side, but that isn't what I want it to do. Is there a quick way to get it to work again?
Very suddenly my dock has disappeared, (and occasionally reappears), and is now completely non-useable. Why..? I have created other accounts on my computer previously and the dock on those is fine...I have looked in Activity monitor and it flashes on and then disappears in there.I tried using terminal to 'killall Dock', but this did nothing...Am using Leopard on Alu iMac.
