I took my iMac panel off to clean and when I put it back I noticed as you run your finger from the bottom of the panel left to right or right to left, the glass begins to get thicker and eventually overlap just barely the metal in the middle. I can't remember if it was like this or not before, so I am wondering is this bent? And if so what should I do?
View 2 Replies View Relatedthere is a small chip behind the glass of my 27" imac. It's about the size of a small crumb or the eye of a small needle. It's hard to see, but it's definitely there. Today is my last day to get the imac replaced or repaired. I have a feeling if I bring it in that they will see there's no reason to swap out the entire imac, and if there is I would have to wait awhile because it's a custom high end one so they don't have the specsI'm worried if they swap the glass that it's just some 19 year old kid that does it and he won't be careful with the screen and will get dust, finger prints, etc. on the glass making it worse.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it just me or the macbook air has a problem with backlight? it's very very bright compare to my mbp 13.3 but it seems like the left part of the screen receive a lot more light than the bottom right of the screen. I notice that on the mbp pro but its worse on the mba. I have a rev2 1.86 with a 9400. In this review (in spanish) they check the brightness levels on the screen, and there is a difference between center and bottom right corner (340cd/m2 vs 215cd/m2)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought my macbook pro 13 inch about a 40 days ago and I have just noticed two small black dots on the on the bottom of the screen near the left side of my dock. I have done some research and they seem to be "dead pixels" They're really small but for the price I payed i didnt expect any problems. What are some suggestions to get rid of them or if i should contact tech support? Here are two pictures of the dots: They kinda change colour when i move my head around.. Not sure if theyre dead pixels or not.

I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point. It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?
I bought it on black friday at an Apple retail store. And the second day I bought it, under the sunlight, I can see a slight.. mark across from the left all the way to the right on the bottom of the iMac. Is this part of the design?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy OS is 10.9.3 and I've only had it for a month or so.
I'll be on Firefox or the desktop and without touching the mouse or keyboard or anything 'var' appears highlighted in yellow at the bottom left corner of my screen and a speech bubble will define it. The definition matches the one for 'var' in the built-in dictionary but I very rarely use it and have not had it open while this has happened.
It happens about once a week and the word defined has been different 1 or 2 times but mostly its just 'var'. The Macbook also freezes occasionally or has periods of very slow loading; something which never happened with my old Mac White. Do I have a virus or something?
I was watching a movie today, and noticed a dot on the screen. I scrubbed it hardcore, and it didn't go away. I freaked out because it might be a stuck pixel. After close observation, there are tiny extensions (probably its feet) around the 1-2 pixel size bug. I've taken a screen capture, but the bug is not displayed on it. Is it actually a bug? Should I take the glass off and exterminate the thing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased an iMac 21.5" recently and unfortunately it came with a dead pixel(black) and I can see some hot pixels, also. Can these hot pixels be dust though?
In top-middle part of the screen(where iSight is located) the glass that protects the screen actually has a gap. I mean, in the right and left parts the glass seem to be more stuck than in the middle part.
Actually I can even put my nail inside the glass and I suppose, it can be removed if a lot of pressure is applied. Are all iMacs supposed to be like that?
Maybe dust gets through there so that's why I see these "hot" pixels.
Do not tell me to remove the frame and clean it up, it's one day old. I just want to know if it is supposed to have that small gap on the top center part.
This may seem odd, but I think my iMac is melting. I started to clean my iMac with a simple cleaning cloth then i realized spots on the screen. The aren't really visible when the screen is on, but you can still kind of see them. Not only that, the quality of the images on my screen seems to be deteriorating. It is only visible under light. I have attached some photos, but i wanted to know if anyones iMac has done this before(regardless of size, but post it in case), and if apple will fix it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI wish I could take a picture of it, but every picture that I've taken so far has developed into a blurry hue. At, first, I thought the screen was just dirty, until upon closer examination did I discover that this little ******* is an ant. It's stuck between the glass and actual monitor directly below the Safari icon in the dock that I have left at the bottom of the screen. I have a feeling that it crawled in through the speakers on the bottom of the monitor, next to where the ram modules sit. I hope it's not planning to nest and start an entire colony on my i7 8GB iMac! That would suck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've read quite a lot about the glossy screens on iMacs and advice offered has been to use a 3m matt film product or remove the glass from the front. Is anyone actually using either of those 2 methods successfully with their iMac? The 3m matt film sounds like it might be awkward to fit without airbubbles etc and might affect sharpness/colour etc Removing the glass from the front could make the screen vulnerable when using things like calibrator devices that need to sit on the screen to work, I don't care what it looks like BTW
Power and features wise the i7 iMac is all the computer I need but need a matt screen is no good for me. I will splurge on a macpro and monitor but its just more than I need and so would prefer the saving
I have not seen any posts comparing these two symptoms together, but I am wonding if both exist on the same screens, or if they are infact seperate issues. I returned a 27" iMac i7 because it had both slight yellowing and terrible backlight bleeding. I have seen multiple machines first hand (3 Core 2 Duos week 41s) at different stores (Apple and Best Buy) that had no yellowing and no backlight bleeding. I won't get into how to check for yellowing, you can read about that issue here: [URL]
But to check for backlight bleeding is both easy and impossible not to see if you have it. To check for backlight bleeding, a quick way is to bring up a site like http://www.blackle.com/ or any other black background, and check for an inconsistent white glow on the edges of your screen. I had serious backlight bleeding in the lower corners of my screen, which happens to be where the yellowing was happening. I don't know if they are related, but hopefully we can determine if there is any correlation here.
I did order a second machine, because I know Apple knows how to make a 27" iMac with a perfect screen (as advertised), since I have seen 3 of them in the wild. Hopefully they will be back to the quality that they had is their early production units very soon.
I see all these complaints about i7 iMacs, does the yellow tint affect Core2Duo models? Is the tint an effect of a MB/CPU issue or a display problem?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a week 50, i7, 2TB Imac. It has a very distinct yellow "tinge", and the Bluetooth does not work properly. Every time I reboot or start, the "Bluetooth setup assistant" starts, which I have to force quit. The wireless keyboard and mouse work fine, but I can't add either of my two bluetooth headsets. They pair, but when I try to activate them, it goes to the bluetooth settings screen, where it says that bluetooth is "off", despite the on checkbox being checked and the keyboard and mouse working. I called support and they had me do a bunch of things, the last thing being reinstalling the OS. Didn't work. So now I need to call them back. I have two problems, the yellow screen and the Bluetooth. Should I ask for a replacement? I see that a lot of people have gotten a replacement just for the yellow screen problem. I have two faults.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi bought the 2009 refurbed 27"er and returned it 3 times due to yellow screen problem. for the 4th replacement they decided to send me the new model.
i have the 3rd and 4th replacements sitting here side by side.the 3rd replacement, which has a yellow corner is light years better than the new one.
the new screen doesn't have yellow corners...it's a perfectly consistent yellowish brown tone.
the older one has a yellow corner, but is much more illuminated and very balanced white. the max brightness of the new one is only 3/4s of the max of the old one.i tried configuring it to no avail.
are all the new models like this?it's quite a bit snappier, but the screen is worse than the last 3 that had yellow patches? it almost seems like it was a return and it shipped from cali rather than asia?
My screen will flash pink with a yellow apple icon just after the spinning gears has stopped when I start up.

I have a much loved ibook G4 14" (late 2004??). It has just died. Well, in so much as it won't boot up. The ibook either gets as far as the apple grey screen and hangs, gets to the login screen and hangs, actually loads up finder etc and hangs or none of the above. Sometimes flashing red, blue green black.
After lots of research online over the past few days I tried the following: I have tried safe mode (not working), starting the command prompt screen (single user and verbose modes), started open firmware, and tried booting from a CD. Nothing works as the boot gets so far then hangs. I have flashed the PRam, resetted the NVRam, and have stopped short of opening up the case to dismantle it!
I just really want to access the hard drive now. I have tried Target disk mode and linked the ibook (pressing T) via firewire to a PowerPC G5, but the G5 doesn't recognise the ibook. System profiler on the G5 shows the target mode connected and working fine via firewire, just the icon for the ibook/target doesnt mount on the G5 desktop so I cant access it.Currently the boot freezes within a couple of minutes.I tried the hardware test CD that came with the ibook years ago, I have also tried booting from an OSX Panther CD. I'm assuming they would be bootable.
I forgot to mention that in linking with the G5 in target mode, a disk that I put in the ibook drive appeared on the G5 desktop as an external drive, therefore I wonder why i cannot see the actual ibook drive mounted. The CD drive works as it mounted on the G5.Does the ibook have an actual PRam battery that can be replaced? Maybe this is an issue?Am I able to actually remove the hard-drive and access it as an external drive somehow?
I have a 23" apple mac cinema display (matt version) which seems to be suffering from a slight yellowish tint on the left hand side, it also seems to go slightly brighter that side as well, apart from that the screen is fine.

View 17 Replies View RelatedSo after giving up the new iMacs after two replacements about six months ago for yellow screens......I thought I would try again.
The good news is that the white is very uniform with no yellowing. The bad news is that it has this dark band across the bottom of the screen just above the dock.
So I am basically in the same spot I was six months ago. Replace the unit for a new one, replace the screen, or just live with it. Maybe I am being too anal but for $2,500, I shouldn't have to live with anything but a perfect screen.
I have seen some desktops with their bottom dock but in the style of the left dock. I'm desperately looking for the left hand style dock on the bottom. I have CandyBar but it is only the trial.

Running OS X 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro that's roughly 2 years old (maybe a little more). About a week ago I noticed that I was unable to copy/paste/undo/cut. Thought it was a total command key failure at first but other shortcut functionality is intact (cmd+t/cmd+w etc). So I've isolated the problem to the left cmd key and the bottom row of my keyboard. Separately they work just fine, but they refuse to work together.
