the light on my charger that plugs into my macbook pro is flashing orange/yellow. why is it doing this? It wont turn on either.

New mac user. Got a macbook pro model a1278. When it is plugged in the charger flashes orange faintly. Tried resetting the smc but nothing. Any ideas? Hard drive might be bad but other than that im not sure.a bad hard drive would cause this.

So I have an Airport Extreme hosting my wireless network in my home office (second floor). A couple months ago I bought a Time Capsule (1TB) and have it extending my network from our family room (main floor).
I was just watching TV and saw the status light change from green to flashing yellow/orange. Thinking our internet just went down, I cracked open my MBP and fired up FireFox.... Internet is working just fine. Switched over to the Airport Utility and scanned for Devices. The only device found is my Airport Extreme.
I scanned my local area wireless networks, and all that can be found is the usual suspects... no new apple devices.Did a search on this forum and the apple support forum without finding anything super helpful.I know I could plug in via Ethernet and see if I could find it then...(its installed right under our TV and people are watching it right now)...
My next course of action is to reset the TC... When i set it back up, if I don't give it the exact same name... will i still be able to resume my back-ups from where they were before? (I know I shoulda backed up the config file... but I didn't)?
Advice?
(I highly doubt that it is a software update ... I keep ontop of those, and one hasn't been released for a while... My Extreme is at 7.3.2)
Update:
So after an hour researching all of this I came back downstairs and the TC status light is green... But its still not showing up in the AirPort Utility and I can't back up.

So I power cycled it and its fixed... hope this never happens again.
My router is giving me troubles all of a sudden. It's been flashing the yellow/amber light and I cannot connect to the internet anymore through it.
I've unplugged it and used a different ethernet cable through it, but it still won't connect.
However, my internet does work when I directly plug the ethernet cable into the back of my Mac. So it's not my ISP, which makes me think it's the router.
My AEBS is no more than 6-8 months old, and this is the first time I can't seem to fix it. Usually unpluging it and turning it off and back on will work.
i am receiving a yellow info alert which flashes a couple times per hour but the flash is so quick, i cannot read it.any ideas on how to determine what the issue is?

Wondering if the yellow, charging light, sometimes coming on and going off is an indication of my battery going dead. Mine is a UMBP and the battery hasn't been change. Don't use it too much, though.

I bought this Late 2007 macbook off of craigslist, and it was working perfectly. But after a little water got mon my macbook and charger, I plugged it in and it had a bright green light and wouldn't charge. The Next day I plugged it in and it only had a dim green light, it wouldn't Start up without the battery, or run without it. Now all I need is the battery in it to start it up and it will run off of the charger, But it still has that dim green light. The charger is a little Damaged, Photo's In the attachments. My dog chewed on it a while back. This is my first macbook, And the dvd drive is not working, but I have managed to reinstall SL with USB, So it is not a software problem.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 months old MBP SR and recently I have noticed that the charge light on the magsafe adapter turns off after a while. It used to stay green when the laptop was charged but now it turns off. It usually happens when I put the computer to sleep. After a while the charger light turns off. Not a huge issue but I was wondering if other people were seeing something similar and if there was something I could do to get the light back on (I think it looks nice).

I tried to unplug it, and plug it back in, but there's no LED light on the charger, and the battery information at the top-right corner of my computer says "Not charging". Â

I have a Macbook Pro and seems there is an issue with my chargers light indicator. When I plug in it, it glows green first, then turns to orange and then goes off. While it's off, it seems that my battery is not charging but also does not lose any charge, so it just keeps the charge on the battery. Should I be worried about that ?

I tried my charger and 2 other ones. same problem. Pressing the battery indicator button in the left side will not light up at all. We left the computer plugged in for a few hours, and it still doesn't power on. I reseated the battery connector, reset the SMC, reset the PRAM/NVRAM, and the computer still won't turn on. No lights (except the magsafe that is faintly green). I'm sure it the logic board that failed in her 4 month old $1200 computer, but if you have any suggestions, let me know. We are going to the Apple Store soon. If it is indeed the logic board, then people that says Dell computers are crap will have to think again. My mom's work computer (Latitude E6400) is a year old.

I have macbook air 13inch 2011 model. 2 days back It wasn't charging and dim green light was showing. I visited service center which is far from where i live.They said battery was short, they removed battery and placed it back and my mac started working. I came back home, next day again same issue. I've been having some issues with one of my Airport Express units, the one the modem's connected to. I've been on the phone with Apple a few times, and have had my MacBook (brand new) checked out for antenna issues by a Genius. All is well. I've tried resets of all sorts on the Express, and what happens is that in the mornings the main Express is blinking yellow. This morning nothing--not any kind of reset--would change that. is it time for a new Express?

When shutting down, we get a familiar light blue screen before the computer turns off. I'm getting this flashing at me while operating my MBP. It seems to happen twice, every so often. The screen will turn blue and become empty simultaneously for about a half second - then the screen I'm expecting to see comes back for about half a second - and then the light blue screen comes back again for about a half a second, and then everything goes back to normal.What the heck is this?

I went upstairs last night to find my Macbook Pro's charger had no light lit up on it. I tried everything including changing wall sockets, resetting the SMC, with and without the battery - nothing! I then noticed I could feel the electrical current on my Macbook Pro and then it started, a loud ticking coming from the brick. It's dead. It's just under 18 months old. Apple has said that I have no Applecare, no tech support and no warranty so buy a new one. I thought electronics HAD to have a 2-year warranty on them in Europe? Can I take that to apple? It's �60 for a new one and things like this shouldn't fail after just 17 months.
It's the old 85W type. The guy at Apple told me they only do the "new" 60W types. Can I use these with a June '08 Macbook Pro? I've had no end of problems with my MBP. I may call an end to Apple - I'm not happy paying over the odds for this Macbook less than 18 months ago for it to have had so many problems already.
I put my MacBook on charge but nothing happened there was no orange or green light and in the top right hand corner it said 'not charging' . I tried it a few more times and then the led just flicked from green to orange so I shut the mac down just before it ran out of battery. I then borrowed my friends macbok charger the same power as my other one but now the led just flashes orange and as it mac won't turn on I guess it's not charging it properly.
