When I try to delete duplicate names and addresses from my Skype contact list I get the message that this has to be done by deleting these names from my Mac contact list. How is this done?

I have a lst of ten + people that I want to put into my address book under one disignated. What is the easier way to accomplish that task?

I recently added new names with their email addresses in "Address Book" - picked the Group I wanted and then clicked the + sign under Names and entered the info in the space to the right. I had already created a mailbox for each name and had gone through Mailbox-Preferences-Rules to have emails from or to routed to the correct boxes [which it did when I clicked on "Apply" at the end of this process]. All this to show what I did prior to choosing "New Message" in Email. When I got the blank email page, I clicked on the Address Book icon above to retrieve the address I wanted and only the names of the people I had entered were displayed, NOT their email addresses.  I then restarted the computer - still the same. How do I get the addresses to show up?

Since upgrading to 10.6.5 I have had DNS problems.Whilst nslookup and ping will resolve the DNS names to their correct IP addresses, safari and other services won't.
The problem seems to be related purely to CNAME entries which are in a different forward lookup zone to the A record.
For instance if we had a forward lookup zone of foo.bar and an A record of www going to 10.1.1.15 (www.foo.bar = 10.1.1.15) and then a CNAME record of go in a zone bloo.by (go.bloo.by = www.foo.bar) then ping and nslookup will resolve go.bloo.by to 10.1.1.15 but it seems safari can't.
Originally, notifications from Messages.app would show the contact name sending the message. I'm not sure what caused it to stop, but now all notifications show up as the phone number of the contact. In the actual app, the names look fine. Is there some way to get contact names to show up again?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Image Capture 4.0 to download photos. When I plug in my storage device (camera, SD card, USB stick, etc.) Image Capture opens and along with the option to select the download folder, all the names of the folders (grayed out) I have used since I first started using the computer appear. These are folders I no longer use, but to get to the actual area or folder that I want to download to, I have to scroll past a couple hunderd previous, grayed out folder names. Once I get to the actual desired folder, I can download to it. But, those annoying, old folder names still appear on the hard drive.

I think I posted this in the wrong place - community - as I am new to all this. However I am hoping someone can tell me how to get rid of old or inaccurate email addresses that come up in Entourage (Office 2004) when you begin to type in the first name of an addressee in a new email.
Sometimes you get things wrong, and the wretched thing never seems to go away! I don't know where the Entourage system gets it from, because I have attempted to delete the dud email addresses from all the obvious places.
I would like to delete one of my Mail addresses and add a new one before moving to Cloud, but can't find a way to do this in MobileMe now.

When browsing controllers in Logic, only a few show, such as pan and main volume, but none of the rest (like effects depths, portamento etc.). Is there a setting that makes the rest appear in the list? Also, if I import a MIDI file in, it uses sounds from GarageBand, and not the quicktime MIDI sounds. Is there a way to make it take the quicktime, or other GM sounds instead of the GarageBand ones?

I've tried deactivating and reactivating it via the Window menu, I've tried changing the settings on when it's supposed to appear, and I've even tried reinstalling the application once, but nothing is working. I am stuck with a problem. The problem is that I have two folders. What i'd like is that when I place an item in the main folder it automatically duplicates in the second folder thus keeping both folders in sync.
The folders are in seprate locations within the system. Is this possible? Maybe an Automator action?
I just noticed something while sorting photos around in some folders. I'd click one, and suddenly another picture file appears to get created right under it with the exact same filename & extension.
I tried to delete the duplicate thinking I accidentally hit "duplicate" instead of "copy" when right clicking, and the Original file was also sent to trash. I pulled it back out and it did it again. When I moved it into the subfolder, the duplicate vanished.
When you download a file (a song for example) from the internet and it downloads into your "Downloads" folder in finder, than you drag it to your "music" folder, its permanent home...does this mean you now have 2 copies of this file, one in the downloads folder and one in the music folder?
Is there any way to manage this without manually deleting things every time you download anything? Perhaps I'm missing something
