My macbook air will not reboot when I start it up . the screen stays black. Pretty sure it is a 2014 as I bought it last January.

I have the 9C9E display. Is this a good one? Also, the colors on MacRumors look purple, where on my moms 2.4 Macbook they looked blue. Especially the thread links. What do I do?

So I have this collection of pixels near the bottom of my screen but they're only visible over a dark grey area, like when you're in the login screen (I have an early 2013 MBPr 15 btw)
It's probably a problem with the screen itself and not the GPU (or maybe the connection between them?) since if I take a screenshot it's not visible and I've connected it to an external monitor and it doesn't have it.
I took a picture of said problem [URL] .....
I've had this for a few weeks now and I've tried those youtube videos (I just to have some image retention after leaving something to run for a long time) which have decreased the amount of pixels. They all dissapeared for a few hours and now they're back.
I recently purchased a ColorVision Spyder 2 to calibrate my MacBook Pro display (I have the 9C83 panel). The results were wonderful—everything seemed to improve colorwise. There is one exception, though: in applications that use ColorSync (Safari, iPhoto, etc.) blues turn purple. Not just a purpleish-shade of blue—purple. The easiest way to see this is by opening a color picker, such as the one in Pages or Adium. Using the RGB sliders to choose a perfect blue—255—it's easy to see that it's purple. Other interface elements changed, too: blue menus, such as when you organize bookmarks in Safari, become purple. I found a long thread about the issue here, but no conclusion seems to be reached. It looks like the color spectrum created by these hardware profilers puts blue very far away from the sRGB blue, causing an adjustment to purple. A lot of people here use calibration tools on their MacBook Pros—has anyone else seen this? And you if have, is there a workaround?

Enjoying the speed of my new iMac i3 but the colors just seem way off compared to my older MBP. Perfect example is going to craigslist where the text is blue on my MBP but on my iMac the text looks purple. What is wrong here and what can I do to correct this?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a purple tray-loading imac g3 and it runs good. but i was looking at the processor speed and it isnt much. i think only 333MHz. is there any way to overclock it without changing hardware, such as a software that will run on 10.2.8? i only want another 50MHz from it or so. it is a powerpc processor, ram modules are directly on the processor, no pins

I have a late 2011 iMac (21.5") that has worked pretty well since purchase in November, 2011. However recently I started to experience severe lagging and even major skipping when viewing Flash video content on a number of different sites. The behavior exists in both Firefox and Safari, and I've tried a clean install of Flash twice now with no improvement. I also upgraded my router to address intermittent wireless outages that I thought were contributing to the video performance issues.
I was previously using an old Airport Express, and purchased a new Airport Extreme. That improved my wireless performance dramatically. Constant signal drops disappeared, and my speedtest.net speed went from all over the map with an average of 5Mbps to a smooth steady 50Mbps almost every time. However the video issues have persisted. Yesterday I downloaded temperature monitor to see if overheating was an issue. Here are my readings after about 40 minutes of running flash content:
I just purchased an APC UPS (something I've been meaning to do anyway) but I'm doubtful power fluctuations are the culprit. I'll try plugging directly into the router of course, to see if somehow flash content is causing some wifi signal variance that speedtest doesn't pick up. But I'm beginning to worry that my GPU is the real issue here.

I'm using a 20" white intel iMac and cannot manage to remove a linux boot disc from the optical drive. At first, the only way that i managed to boot to the linux disc in the first place was from the Startup Disk menu in OSX. I could not even get to the Startup Manager ('opt' at boot) or boot straight to the disc ('C').Now i'm in a position where no matter what i do, the system boots to the linux disc. I cannot even force the startup into OSX to try to eject the disc from there. I've tried holding all of these keys/combinations at startup
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago, we accidentally installed what we think is a bad version of a flash player when attempting to register a rewards card. We un-installed the software as soon as we realized it was not the correct website for the rewards card. Since then, we are getting a flashing pop-up ad in the right column of the browser as well as a video window that pops-up from left bottom of browser and then multiple windows in Safari will just open.

I used a new USB flash drive this morning to transfer my pictures to. It showed it was transferring them then the screen went blue and nothing responded. I shut down the computer and unplugged everything but now when I turn the computer back on it shows my home screen and I can see the mouse icon moving around but I am unable to 'click" on any of my programs and get a response.

I was working with logic pro 8 on a project when the APP crashed. Then, the whole computer became real slow. I couldn't open anything without getting the spiraling rainbow circle for at least 3+min and even then the app wouldn't launch. So I shut down normally, which took a while.
After I left it off for about a min or so, I tried to boot again just to get stuck on the gray screen with the apple logo. I did some research on my phone (since I currently don't have internet because I'm moving this week) and found out how to reset the pram. I tried it, and this time it got all the way to the blue screen where it got stuck. I tried resetting the pram a second time to finally get to the log in screen but everything was going very very slow. Unusable type of slow. Opening a new finder window took at least 2 mins and everytime I ran my mouse across the idock, it would freeze.
Ordered new RAM for my Mid-2007 iMac 24" 2.8 from Newegg.Crucial (2x2GB Crucial 200 Pin SODIMM 256MX64 DDR2PC2- 5300 Dual DIE CT2KIT 25664A C667)
I installed them both in their own slots, made sure that they clicked in.when I connect all the cables in and turn it on I get no boot sound.I decided to take one of the new ram out and installed an old one it boots up. It reads that it has 3gbs of ram.

I have an iMac that I have a second display hooked up to it. I can move an app (say Safari for example) from one display to another with my Magic Mouse. However, I also have a Magic Trackpad that I would like to do the same thing with, but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to do it. I'd really rather use the trackpad than the mouse because it's more comfortable to me.
