Trying to get my MS Outlook Contacts onto my new MAC but for some reason the MAC address book will not recognize the .csv or .txt files that outlook generates in its Export process. I've opened the files in excel and in Numbers and they look fine - the MAC just doesn't like them for some reason.Â
View 4 Repliesi have finally decided to import my addresses from excel into address book (i switched from a PC about a year ago). i exported the addresses to a csv text file and then imported it from address book. that worked fine, i set up the right labels and then clicked okay on the "text file import" box after everything was set. the problem is, when i click okay, nothing happens. the program isn't frozen but clicking okay does nothing, nothing actually imports into the address book.

Rather than recreating all these business cards by hand, is there an easy way to import all these into Address Book?
Recently I tried to set up sync with gmail. As soon as I did all my contacts in the cloud and all my Apple devices disappeared. I shut down the sync and tried to re-import my contacts from an earlier export, but each time I choose Import, the names appear, the wheel spins, and when it stops all the contacts disappear.

I have recently updated to iCloud - after trying for months and months to clear problems and more problems with my last year update to Lion..After my recent update to iCloud, several of my groups in the Address Book were duplicated. In the iPhone and iPad I cannot find any editing option for groups. But also in the computer, when I highlight the group and go to the Edit menu the option for deleting a group is gray and cannot be applied.Â

I can't restore my address book from external backup. I have all the files in Library/ApplicationSupport/Addressbook. I have tried to move them into the machine hard dirve and restart, but that is not working. I have also tired to move two adressbook plist files from preferences and that did not help. When I open address book on my mac, all of my contacts are on iCloud. When I change a photo for one of my contacts and add an effect to it, the effect lasts for about three seconds and goes back to the original. I'm assuming that a sync with iCloud is occurring and the image modifications are lost since when I turn my wifi off, the effects remain. However, when I turn my wifi back on, the effects disappear and I am left with the orginal. I tried running the app in 32-bit mode with no such luck.
