May 7, 2012She was having mail issues (passwords etc) so rather then messing with all the random settings I decided to delete the account and then re-enter it so it auto-fills everything. Only problem was that when I hit the delete button it removed the account and all the stuff from the inbox etc but then popped up a messages saying something like "are you sure you want to do this as deleting everything will be lost". Something along those lines. I wasn't sure what it was talking about so I hit cancel to stop it.
Now it seems to be gripping onto that mail account half way. I can close the email program and reopen and then account shows up again in the list of accounts. If I remove it (no messages pop up) then it disappears and about 10 seconds later I get a popup message saying that the mail accounts password is wrong? Though there is no accounts listed and I've even deleted all the passwords from keychain etc. If I enter a password it does nothing (I know I have the right password).Then, if I close mail and reopen the account is listed in the preferences again automaticly? I keep deleting it but it keeps popping back in but with no emails etc and a bunch of password etc popups bugging me. I can't seem to ADD the account again either as it just comes up with an error I think because that account is halfway in the mail app somehow.Is there anyway to manually remove any trace of this account from the mail app or something so that I can re-add it fresh?

Apr 7, 2012It seems it should be easy enough to delete a mail account! But I cannot. I highligh the mail account I want to delete, control + click and ONE of the options is DELETE MAILBOX. I have clicked it over and over again, I get a message like "are you sure?" Since I am I select DELETE, not cancel. And I just cannot get rid of this mailbox.Â

But it's asking me to create an email address (username@me.com). I tried keying in my existing .me account but obviously that won't work. How do I do this using my existing .me account or better if I can use my .mac account. Personally I prefer my .mac account of course

Jul 21, 2010I had a hotmail account and about a month ago apple mail deleted all my messages from the hotmail account, therefore I am unable to access any of them from anywhere else except my mac.
I learned that that was due to me leaving the box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message." Now I fixed that and moved to gmail, as I was able to upload all hotmail messages to my gmail account through tuhunderbird.
Since I am not a big fan of Thunderbird as it is giving me some password issues, today I set up the gmail imap (I think) accunt on my apple mail, but there is no box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" for gmail in prefrences, just for hotmail.
Now I am scared, will apple mail delete all my messages from the gmail server, and if it will, how do I prevent it from doing so?

However, my wife's iMac, running Snow Leopard cannot be upgraded (if that's the right word) to Lion so cannot migrate. She currently has a .mac email only ID through Mobileme which is functioning OK but my question is, will she still be able to use it when Apple switches off Mobileme?

May 15, 2012Somehow, iCloud is receiving e-mail sent to another account, a non iCloud/non-mac.com, and bringing these e-mails into my mac.com inbox. Jun 3, 2014My Mail client stopped connecting to iCloud all of a sudden this morning.It has been set up a while ago and always worked fine. Now it shows the broken connection icon, and when I click on it it asks for my iCloud password.I enter the correct password and click OK, and nothing happens. The broken connection icon remain and I do not receive new e-mail and cannot send emails.Â
I am certain this is the right password as I can log into iCloud webmail, and my iphone and ipad remained connected. Is there something wrong with the iCloud server, or is there something I can do?
